      DDS is achieved with a University route only. With the exams, we can only achieve a practicing license.

    Hello doc. I have a question which is a bit out of subject, don't mind, but it's extremely important for me as I stay anxious because of it. My question is that while we are preparing for either AFK or license route after coming to Canada from India as PR, how will we manage our monthly expenses? Can we get part time job in a clinic or a hospital if we want to do for sometime after landing? Or should we have sufficient funds to sustain ourselves for some years of study time?

    • @TheToothFactory
      @TheToothFactory  Před 10 měsíci +1

      That is a great question doctor. As a PR you benefit is the availability of CIBC line of credit for this process of examinations. That helps you fund the large ticket expenses like your coaching classes fees. On a survival basis you can get a job at a clinic as an administrator or assistant level one in the province of Ontario easier than others. However, we cannot rely on that as qualification from Canada matters a lot. Therefore, we then generally fall back on casual jobs such as retails stores. Hope this helps.

      Deepak kansal hello Doctor, thank your kind words. And yes, there is a board that handles Dental Assistance called the National Dental Assistance Examination Board (NDAEB). Just like the NDEB for DDS, it requires for an equivalency process of your documents which takes about 2-3 weeks and then you are eligible to take two exams consisting of one theory and one practical test. After which you may acquire the Dental Assistance License. The entire program from A to Z will take about 5-6 months and here is the link for further details: www.ndaeb.ca/

    Hello Doctor, you made a very informative video. I am BDS and work as a dentist in India. If I will study MDS in Canada then do I have to write all NDEB exams which you have mentioned in this video. Kindly request to let me know that what is the passing rate of this exam and how did you pass this exam? Thanks and God bless you.

    • @TheToothFactory
      @TheToothFactory  Před 5 lety +1

      Rocky Patel thank you doctor for your kind appreciation. To answer your question, to begin a dental career in Canada, as an internationally trained dentist, we have to go through the NDEB process regardless but there is a twist to your concern. In order to achieve an admission in MDS in canada we must have a DDS degree. Which means we will have to take AFK exam and then get an admission into a university and complete DDS and then apply to MDS.
      Now, the passing rates are anywhere from 45-49% each exam. And the only key is to personally, take coaching classes and focus on what is the exam is structured to do. And study like you never have before. Thats is the only method doctor.

    Hello Dr i wanted to know that after reaching Canada n giving afk acj exam n acs exam we still have to do the 2 year course in a university or in the meanwhile we can learn for masters n at d end can do the OSCE n get d work permit n later pr ?

    • @TheToothFactory
      @TheToothFactory  Před 5 lety +3

      DENTAL SPA hello doctor, so the concept for Canada is as follows:
      1. AFK
      2. ACJ
      3. ACS
      4. OSCE
      5. Practice as DDS
      Now in the process above you do not need to attend college but if you wish to attend the college then you can with the following method:
      1.AFK (85% minimum)
      2. Apply at university
      3. University Entrance Exam
      4. Interview
      5. 2-3 years of DDS course
      6. OSCE
      7. Practice as a DDS
      So you do not need to take the ACJ AND ACS exams for university route. But AFK is must.
      Now to do masters in Canada, it is a whole different procedure. You must have a DDS and then apply at a university for masters MDS course and then get enrolled and depending in the field of your masters, the duration of your masters study can be from 3 Years to 6 Years. For example, Oral Surgery is 6 years of MDS.
      And about work permit, you must have a PR to be enrolled into a university and to work as a dentist you need either work permit or a PR.

      Hello, no no after you step into the University, you are a dental student. All you need to do pass through the years and get your degree.
      Yes to qualify for the dental university we must go through AFK (NDEB exam) and then a bench test and a thorough interview. We have private institutions in Canada like the Prep-Doctors, which carry courses to help us crack these exams.

      harini saras hello doctor, i will be answering a three of your questions.
      1.) the syllabus is essentially the same but the difference is the depth they cover. In Canada we study in intense depth which then feels like a whole new subject.
      2.) after doing MDS it is not easier or harder. To qualify for a masters dental license we must take the speciality exams which are at 20% passing rate so most MDS from India choose to go with regular DDS route.
      3.) since you are in second year, i do not recommend trying to prepare right away as it will be of no use. You must focus on succeeding excellence at your BDS currently and begin your preparation in internship.
      Hope this helped doctor and thank you fo your wishes.

      @TheToothFactory  Před 2 lety

      Hello doctor, thank you for your kind words. Blessings like these are what keeps us going. Thank you!
      For you considering your BDS experience and potentially high IELTS score, I recommend you to take the express entry route only. It will really be more predictable for you. Then going through AFK and the rest of the NDEB process. Student visa process is when you can not match up to the express entry eligibility. I feel like if you were to ask any consultant to help you get an estimated score for CRS (express entry Canada) then you can find out if it is a good option. In any sense, it is better than student visa for you.

      Your first question: as long as you pass your BDS with a first class mark and have no failures you should be good to apply for NDEB. It is the score in NDEB exams that make more of a difference in your acceptance in universities.
      Your second questions: the estimate of a student visa applicant from day 1 journey to your DDS license is around $130,000 CAD.

      Shivam Chauhan no doctor the fact that you have done BDS from government college has no effect on your employment in Canada. This is because you employment will solely be based on your license so everyone who has a license is at an equal chance of getting a job. The only thing that can differentiate you out from others is how well your job interview goes and what skills you can display to your potential employer. Other than that every graduate has an equal opportunity. Hope helped doctor!

    Hello sir! I'm a 3 Rd year undergraduate.i wanted to do dds in Canada .can you give me a step wise process for this dds program.
    1. After taking AFK exam and scoring well will allow me to do dds in Canada or should I take that 6 months coaching for doing dds.
    2 .what are the requirements for applying for dds
    3.tution fee approx
    4. Is there any clinical assessment exam for getting dds
    5. Is there any interview ( since U.S has) for doing dds

    • @TheToothFactory
      @TheToothFactory  Před 5 lety +3

      Hello Doctor,
      1. Taking AFK is the second step. First your degree equivalency must be done which permits you to participate in DDS program. Then when you take AFK, you must get a 75% or more to pass. It is not mandatory to take the class but I do recommend taking coaching classes such as Prep Doctors.
      2. Requirements for DDS are: your bachelor of Dental Surgery degree, Internship Completion, all 4 BDS years transcripts and a completion form from your university needs to be submitted to NDEB for equivalency and once it is done, AFK registration needs to be done. Now after AFK, if you get high marks like 90% you have a good chance to get into a university which is 2 years program called DDS advanced placement or if you dont get high marks in AFK, you can go ahead and take ACJ and ACS exams to get a license.
      3. Tuition fees are as follows but approximated:
      A) equivalency NDEB- $1100
      B) AFK - $1000
      C)ACJ - $1800
      D) ACS - $8000
      E) if coaching classes taken -
      AFK classes ($4500)
      ACJ Classes ($2500)
      ACS Classes ($9000)
      This is approximate costs excluding retakes and loving expenses and travel expenses.
      4. So clinical assessment is one of the three exams mandatory to pass to get a license called the ACJ. and also if you were to apply in a university, some universities require a “bench exam” which is a practical test along with an interview and a high AFK score. This will then allow you to enter a university instead of you taking just exams to clear DDS. Note: University costs are above $150,000.
      5. Yes, Interviews are there for selected universities as an entrance. Some universities have both an interview and a bench exam and some have only bench test but for both, a high AFK score is must.
      NOTE: AFK is a must. High AFK score-allows you to apply at universities for a two year DDS program (3rd and final year DDS) and a passing AFK score - allows you to take the next exams to get a license to practice dentistry in canada.
      “If you need a step by step instruction for a student visa individual to apply from india for a course and eventually become a dentist in Canada, please reach me on my facebook messenger or give me your facebook ID and i shall message you the steps there.
      Hope this helped.

    • @rishishah1664
      @rishishah1664 Před 3 lety

      @@azamuddin2974 hello, so when selecting courses for immigration purpose you are absolutely right, many courses are dreadful on the pockets such as dental hygiene but you may also get your PR through courses like MHA diplomas or courses like health informational management, occupational therapy assistant, physiotherapy assistant, dispensing optician and so on. All of these courses are health related. Now these courses are less expensive than courses like dental hygiene or Masters in Public Health and will also get you towards PR. Now talking about DDS profile. See doc, for us to become dentists here in Canada as international Dentists (assuming you are a BDS graduate) we need to go through the NDEB process which does not look at our prior studies but it looks at three big things:
      1.) score in our AFK exam which is the first exam. If we score high we can apply to a university for DDS course or we can go through the following exams ACJ and ACS to become licensed.
      2.) DDS degree journey after getting a high score in AFK, will need us to have great skills in clinical aspects to be given admission into schools (that is where only courses like dental hygiene helps unfortunately but now a days we have classes here to help us crack the entrance practical exam for DDS degree) and extra curricular activity such as volunteering and all.
      3.) IELTS scores must be competitive.
      So in conclusion, your course for PR has little effect on your DDS journey that follows. Do not worry about DDS when choosing your PR course as if you are choosing a less expensive course and not taking dental hygiene for example which is expensive, you are only risking having yourself stay away from clinical practice for 2-3 years and then when you apply for DDS schools, you may need to get trained again for them. Which is not an issue now as there are several institutions that offer training courses for the admissions. But profile wise there is little influence on your DDS admission from your PR associated course.
      Hope this was informative.
      Please do not hesitate to ask further questions if any queries come up.
      Thank you.

      That is a very good question. So there are two reasons why people do this Milanjeet Kaur.1.) People want to study ahead into MDS after they complete DDS. with a license it is not possible to do a masters in dentistry. 2.) Some people really wish to be standardized with the Canadian education and learn each procedure here in person which can definitely be a boon when practicing in the future. So, they extended their time-line and fees in order to achieve it.

Now because youre the only one in Canada from your side, i suggest living in toronto region as most of the facilities are accessible there that you may need. Such as NDEB classes, such as various colleges that you can choose to study in and easier to find a job as well.

    (2) Can I practice without studying dds in Canadian universities by process 1?

      ooum shukla hey doc, glad to hear your ambitions are quite high. Also achievable. So work hard in your BDS to be equipped with all the knowledge you will need.
      So yes you can become a practicing dentist in Canada without studying at a University. It is called the NDEB equivalency process. It is in which you can apply for an evaluation of your degree and then be eligible to take you first exam (AFK) then second and third (ACJ +ACS) then you will be qualified to take the written and OSCE. After clearing all these exams, you will get your DDS license. Hope this helped doctor

      Jyoti More, hello doctor. Unfortunately our profession is highly skilled and with that being said, it needs modifications according to each country. Therefore, no country in North America, Europe and Australia will validate our degree within a process of 6-12 months. Now there are other countries that may allow such as Russia, or South Asian countries. But I would not recommend considering those options as the earning potential is lower than India itself.
      Hence, to earn good and validate our degree, Western Countries are a better choice although they require 2-3 years of studies minimum.

      So this question I get asked a lot. The majority of the MDS dentists that come to Canada have chosen the route of NDEB instead of the Specialty route. They would have taught in India for years and decided to move to Canada but bidding on the speciality exam is risky for them since they need to begin practicing asap but speciality is highly competitive. SO many applicants choose NDEB route right after BDS instead of MDS. It lets you put the three years of MDS towards NDEB.

    • @TheToothFactory
      @TheToothFactory  Před 5 lety +1

      Vishwa Dave hello Dr. Dave, for sure let me clarify this information for you.
      In order to apply for admission into a University for DDS in Canada we must clear the AFK with a minimum of 75.
      But there is also the competitive aspect when only a 75 will likely not be enough to be accepted into a university. Henceforth we much aim for over an 80 on the AFK.
      Assuming we acquired 80 and plus on the AFK, we can now apply to a university for the “DDS Advanced Placement” or “International Dental Degree Program” whichever one depending on the University. Once you apply, and submit all other required documents such as your IELTS or residency proof. Later if accepted, University call for an interview and/or a bench exam(entrance practical exam) and presuming we clear that, we can begin enrolment into the dental school as a student of 3rd and Final year. Therefore, 2 years of school later we can be eligible to be a graduated Dentist from a Canadian University from AFK.
      Please do not hesitate to ask more questions. We are always here to clarify any other doubts.

      shahroze ahmed Dr Shahroze Ahmed, I firstly appreciate your complement. I am delighted to answer your question as you do have tooothfactory known in canada now so dont you worry 😃
      1.) in order to do MDS in Canada, one must complete the DDS license program through a university itself using the DDS advanced Placement degree program. Therefore clearing the AFK and then being accepted to university then completing the DDS advanced placement and then applying for masters is the only route to MDS for international students.
      2.) the difficulty in getting jobs is not associated with your license program it is only and solely associated with your geographic location of residence in Canada. For example, if you live in the middle or a fully developed city such as Toronto, you will face difficulty finding a job as a dentist whether youre an international student with license or 2 year degree program or a canadian dentist itself. But if you reside lets say in Sasketchewan Regina which is still developing more and more, you have an easy time getting a job. Therefore once you do get a license you will be as equal as a Canadian Dentist.

    Hey doctor the video is really helpful im also looking for opportunities in Canada as a dentist , I need to know after passing the exam and getting a lisence there how much the scopes are to find a job in Canada as a dentist ?? And how much they pay you for the job ??

    • @TheToothFactory
      @TheToothFactory  Před 5 lety

      Shehnaz Al Hossain hello Doctor, so opportunities in canada as a dentist and scopes are two things which we must not worry about after getting the license. The probability of getting a job is highest. There is a high demand of dentists all over the country. Plus, before you take the ACS exam, most dentists would gain experience by working at a clinic part time and usually they get employed at the same place after licensing. And salary, the average salary of a dentist in canada is $144,000 dollars after 5 years of experience. This is twice the average salary in canada. Also there will be a video shortly being posted regarding general dentistry related questions. Stay tuned doctor!

      Also the doubt regarding exam centers. Yes to take all the exams you must be present in Canada. When you will go an register for NDEB, they will ask you to select an exam center and they all are in canada other New Zealand or HongKong. Hope this helped.

    • @TheToothFactory
      @TheToothFactory  Před 5 lety

      Shehnaz Al Hossain I am glad it helped. So NDEB is highly competitive. Each year there is an average of 1500 foreign trained dentist taking the AFK and the passing rate is 49% which means only 700 people pass out of 1500. Although you still have three attempts. Yes it is difficult, it is recommended to take coaching classes to train for them. Studying wise, you must study at least 7-8 hours per day for five months prior to AFK, that is the usual norm. For ACJ, it is a matter of experience as it is mainly diagnosis and radiology, therefore excessive amount of study of xrays and clinical features is required but it is not as bad as AFK. And ACS, the most challenging of the three, takes at least 6 months of training and extreme hours of practice on model teeth for all exercises of exam.so difficulty wise it is as hard as it gets. Here is what they say: it is easy to pass but difficult to study and retain. To hold this knowledge within a few months is the challenge but if you can then the exam shouldn’t be too hard.

      Ash Reddy hello doctor unfortunately there are no license exams for dental hygiene. It must be dine through a course. Also books are available on ndeb.ca under resources tab.
      Here is the website: ndeb-bned.ca/en/resources/preparation-material
      There are over 25 books you can study from but i recommend taking classes such as PrepDoctors. They have exclusive notes. I hope this helped. The list of books are also on the same website given above.

Please tell.

    • @TheToothFactory
      @TheToothFactory  Před 3 lety +1

      Hello so our first approach is that PR is a must when it comes to applying at any universities for DDS. And for us to achieve PR there are two routes. 1.) Try applying through Direct PR from India. 2.) Student Visa process leading to PR.
      So my recommendation is trying to apply for PR only if you have strong work experience in India otherwise student visa with a diploma course leading to work permit and then PR is good. Generally I suggest people to take the AFK during workpermit time and then once you get your AFK scores you would get your PR. Then you can apply to a University for DDS.

      Hey, Alberta is one province that not a lot of people choose due to the limitations of colleges and courses but on the other hand it is one of the best provinces to get a PR due to its short processing time and a job in Alberta pays well too. So, instead on me giving you a list of 10 courses and 4 colleges, I am giving you the top notch option for international students to come to Alberta and study a course which not only will get you through to PR but once you get a job, it becomes a career. Therefore, when you try to pursue DDS, this job will have your financial back through out.
      The college I recommend is SAIT (Southern Alberta Institute of Technology), Calgary Alberta. The course I suggest is Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Diploma). This id a health care diploma with great value and prosperity.
      Here is the link to the college’s course page and please do surf around the website of SAIT for deeper information or feel free to ask me. PS: I grew up in Alberta.

      Jobanpreet kaur youre most welcome Doctor Kaur! Thank you for your motivating compliment 😃 also Scholarships in Canada work within the premise of the Canadian Education board. This means that in order to get a scholarship you must enrol into a course in a University In Canada.
      Therefore, first we must clear the equivalency, then take the AFK and score a competitive 85 and above then get accepted into a university and then apply for a scholarship.
      Unfortunately your exceptionally high 90% in the 12the grade will not contribute to a scholarship in Dentistry. Their reason behind this is that they want to keep every internationally trained dentist as equal as possible despite high or low scores.
      Hope this helped.

      Jobanpreet kaur oh thats more appreciation than we deserve doctor. Thank you for your kind words ☺️ and the answer to your question is:
      1. The AFK is the first and the entrance exam that we as indian BDS have to go through in order to grt admitted into University or follow through with the rest of the Exams. But AFK is the first and only exam to attempt.
      2. Yes we do have coaching classes here in Canada and they are not provided by the government but they are Private. There are a few famous companies such as PrepDoctors and DSTC that are excellent at their results.
      Please tell me of need details for the classes I can guide you.

    • @TheToothFactory
      @TheToothFactory  Před 5 lety

      Jobanpreet kaur for sure Doctor, the AFK exam is the first step of the equivalency process. When you pass this test with a very high mark of 85% and above, you can apply at universities across Canada. Which will accept you in their International Dental Degree Program which is third year and forth year of Dentistry. If incase you get less than 85% then you cannot compete for Universities as competition is high here.
      Also there is no entrance exams to join these classes. All you have to do is register. The classes are primarily located in Missisauga Ontario.hope this helped Doctor.

    One of the requirements is to be a permanent resident. How do i get that? Should i apply directly through student visa or do i have to stay in canada for 2 years?

    • @TheToothFactory
      @TheToothFactory  Před 5 lety +2

      Jenifer Brown doctor, do there is a lot of confusion with Status of residency with DDS.
      Here is the breakdown:
      1.) to apply to NDEB and complete DDS through the exam process with AFK,ACJ,ACS-you do not need a PR. You can very well come with a visitors visa and get a license. But to practice dentistry in Canada, and get a job, you need a PR.
      2.) to register for NDEB and take the AFK, you do not need PR but if you wish to get an admission into a university after AFK, you will need a PR.
      3.) most common route now a days: come to Canada on students Visa, complete the course and get a job with that course on work permit. Then register for NDEB during your workpermit along with applying for PR based on your workpermit. Therefore, both your PR and NDEB will be completed in the same duration of time. This will take at least 5 years from when you land in canada to receiving your PR with NDEB.
      Note: Doctor if you need a step by step guidance for a student visa to PR/NDEB, please message us on facebook at thetoooothfactory, you will find the link above.
      Hope this helped.

    • @TheToothFactory
      @TheToothFactory  Před 5 lety +2

      Jenifer Brown if university programs are your goal in process to complete DDS then PR is a must. It is an admission requirement. So the best option would be to come here on student visa course complete it and then workpermit and apply for PR and then begin NDEB all at once. Its long but effective.

    • @ellie8061
      @ellie8061 Před 5 lety

      So u r saying i should complete a course and after work permit i should apply for the univerisity?

    • @TheToothFactory
      @TheToothFactory  Před 5 lety +1

      Jenifer Brown yes exactly, after workpermit you can apply for your PR and in meanwhile waiting for your PR, you can complete AFK and then apply for university as soon as your PR arrives.
