    I burn my clutches to smithereens every 20,000 km or so and I mean burnt to bits. I'm running the 2009 Versys 650 and I'm a pretty big guy, well no actually I'm a REALLY big guy and I'm brutal on the clutches. I launch like the hounds of hell are on my ass every time I take off and I use the friction zone like mad in traffic so I don't have to put my feet down and that reallllllllly destroys clutches fast. I actually keep a set of just okay clutches in my bike from an ER6N that I did for a buddy just in case I lose my clutches while on a trip. Lastly EXCELLENT video! It's people like you whom take the time to video, edit and post such thorough videos that save people so much time and money... Thanks!

    2009 - Ninja 650R ***CONFIRMED*** , you do not need to empty the oil to open the clutch cover. Just made sure the bike is on the side stand. I just did my oil change like 700 miles ago so I was thankful I didn't need to even though I had all the supplies ready for it.

    • @stevenfalcon2813
      @stevenfalcon2813 Před rokem +1

      If your clutches burnt all that crap is going to be in your oil, clogging various delicate parts. You don't want that. For $20-30 dollars for new filter and oil it's much better overall to just change it.

    Thanks for another great video. Been looking into replacing my clutch springs - will likely do it after spying your video and peeking at the service manual. Getting just a smidge of slippage at highway speeds ~65-70. The springs that come stock are known to slip...
    Been using the Mobile1 - M110 filter. Gives the bike just a tad bit more oil and a bit more filter area.

      I never had any slip on the interstate or hard acceleration. Minor slippage in 1st gear clutch-ups. Lots of slippage in 2nd gear clutch ups. AFTERWARDS with 18% stronger barnett clutch springs I can raise the wheelie approximately 18% easier. I just finished my install and test drive. I still need to experience the clutch a bit more before I do pinging 2nd gear clutch ups.

  • @chh2069

    Have you ever had trouble putting on the clutch cover back on?
    I changed my plates, but now when i install the clutch cover and move the actuator arm to the right it feels as if it's hitting something and most possibly the Push-rod. When i take out the clutch springs and reinstall the clutch cover the actuator arm moves like it should and works properly and it feels like there's tension.
    Has this ever happened to you? I'm currently waiting on a torque wrench hoping the bolts for the springs not being torqued to specs is causing the problem.

    • @50cal5NiP3R
      @50cal5NiP3R  Před 8 lety +1

      You have to have the actuator arm in just the right position when you put the cover back on. It may take a tad bit of fiddling to jet it just right.
