- The 1986 team was the first true superteam, with the original Big 3 of Larry Bird, Kevin McHale and Robert Parish at its core. They all prioritized the team over individual achievements.

#Big3 #Team #HallOfFame - Sport
I still think Chief, McHale, and Bird are by far the best front court of all time.
How about David Robinson & Tim Duncan & one of three stooges as the small forward
The intensity of the Chief's eyes even during this interview let you know what a great competitor and Hall of Famer he was.
Naahh... that's years of drug use.
So underrated. Parrish didn't put up big numbers, post up with flash or finesse, but he was exactly what the Celtics needed when they needed him. A great Celtic.
@@danielm4114 Robert Parrish did the dirty work; got rebounds: played low post 📫 defense: guard great nba centers of nba : score bunch of 🧺 baskets
@@loydkline Total scrapper, right you are Loyd. Hard nosed is how I remember the Chief. Endurance and longevity too.
Greatest team 86 ever nba Celtics Time
One time I was sitting in a restaurant and Robert walked in, towering over his date, and he looked every bit of 7' tall. I always appreciated The Chief cuz he went about his business on the court efficiently and blended so well with Larry and Kevin. He's in the Hall for a reason, that's how good he was. The acquisition of Chief from the Warriors was yet another trade heist by Red.
Traded for the first overall pick and the Warriors took Joe Barely Cares lol
@@TL2354 Joe barely care carroll was a great Purdue center unstoppable; like zach edey today
I can still hear "basket and a foul for McHale" 30 plus years later. He was so good at drawing fouls and making the shot before the whistle blew. I remember an interview with Barkley and he said it was a nightmare trying to shoot over McHale with those long arms of his. McHale wasn't a great outside shooter but on the inside, very few guys could stop him.
The big 3 + DJ....straight fire! ☘️🏀
Ohhhhhh....DJ, man. God rest his soul. 🍀 "FROMMMMMM PEPPPPPPERDINEE....."
I didn't realize The Chief could be such a sharp dresser!
I inherited a book written by Peter May called, “The Big Three” and signed by Parish, Bird and McHale.
Larry LEGEND!🏀🔥🔥🔥
THE!!!! GOAT!!!!!
4:12 wow. awesome passing from ainge to bird then bird to parish for the finish. I thought I had seen all the celtic highlights.. but that's one I haven't seen till now.
Larry Legend helluva playmaker!!!!
One of the best front court trios of all time.
I absolutely love Parrish, a real southern gentleman.
Greatest Big 3 of all time!
WALTON'S JOY ABOUT BEING ON AN EXCELLENT TEAM WAS A REAL MORALE BOOST FOR THE REST OF THE TEAM.
He was the Chief! ☘️🏀
This team seamed at least to me to have more passion for the game than any team of the day. A time long gone but not forgotten.
The greatest frontline the NBA has ever had!
👍
I have to agree, they were some bad boys
Its not even a argument to be made against them
No doubt!!
No arguement from me, however. ❤ those 1960s Boston celtics teams
I wish the current day Celtics players would watch this. Should be part of employee orientation!
Love the Chief!..such a great competitor and person !
As a 80’s Lakers fan, I miss the Boston Celtics with Bird, McHale and Parrish. I feared and hated the Celtics as a kid because the Celtics’ big three were so dominant. Of course, Magic, Kareem and Worthy were great, but the Celtics starting members were a step above everyone.
its only two words to describe Larry bird FUCKING AMAZING
I wasn't alive during the 80's but damn, I love the Celtics's Big 3.
How much does everyone want to see one of these docuseries on Dennis Johnson.
It was fun to watch the Celtics back then, actually the entire NBA was fun to watch.
I love these guys. But I hate it when they're discussed without Denis Johnson also being mentioned. Don't take if from me, those guys all _loved_ DJ!
All 4 we're great. But Dennis was probably the 2nd primary key overall. Bird has called the best he ever played. Have to agree. He's a HOFer even without coming to Boston. Even though it took too long to put him in.
To this day, NONE of the Big 3 want the credit... they give the credit to the team and they're still playing as one 30 years later!
The greatest Big 3 of all time. It's the greatest frontcourt of all time. The most selfless Big 3 of all time.
If not for Bill Laimbeer and his cheating foot rolls against Parrish and McHale during those Detroit series, they'd probably have two more rings.
Kevin's foot to this day is still damaged and the Chiefs ankles were a complete mess after playing against the bad boys and dirty Laimbeer.
My gosh, I love these guys.. Best ever.
That 86 team could beat the 96 Bulls because Chicago struggled against teams with a good frontcourt. That Celtics' edition had the best ever.
You can't ever tell BC the Bulls had a extraordinary team
As much as I hated these guys back in the 80s as a Bulls fan, that's how much I love and respect them now.
i used to be dragged into fistfights in college in ohio in 87-88 by pissed off Pistons fans. i came from boston and the pistons really hadn't gotten it done vs the C's by then and it was an angry thing with their fans. so many torchings of tripucka and kent benson lol
@@postaltraining Piston fans in Ohio?
@@bossfan49 went to college east of columbus. there were a lot more michiganders there than people from boston
Cedric frigging Maxwell. MVP in 81 Championship and best player on the court Game 7 in 84. Retire his number already.
Goats
That's when basketball was basketball Larry Bird goat
Larry would be in the Hall regardless of who he payed for.
"Kevin, I like you. You're a good friend and teammate... so I'm going to let you keep that scoring record for a week or so."
--Larry Bird
Tremendous respect for Parish and McHale for their appreciation for being on an excellent team and how Bird made the game easier for them and the rest of the squad.
Contrast that to seeing Pippen whine on relentlessly about Jordan. Tough to comprehend how/why Scottie can't enjoy what he was a major part of, like Robert and Kevin.
parish was incredable
Celtics!!! Huh raw
In terms of ball movement, you got to feel that the C’s team of the 80’s virtually played volleyball rather than basketball.
Larry to the Chief for an easy two step slam got old to this Pistons fan. That was right after McHale juked the whole front court 3 times for a layup the play before. Top big three ever in my opinion.
As a Bulls fan I hated these guys. Now they're my heroes.
They were damned good ey
I was thinking how this team stacks uo against this years 2024 Celtics team and I don't think it would be a game.
white men can't jump..but Larry prove them wrong, that's why he's my fave NBA Player of all times.
McHale said it best if we were on different teams, we would have scored more and one less.
NBA BOSTON CELTICS THANK YOU LORD IN HEAVEN MY CONTRACT IS $2 MILLION DOLLARS TO BOSTON CELTICS I LOVE BOSTON CELTICS 1946-2022
These days the big men run for nothing, while the little guys jack up three pointers from Canada, Mexico and Jamaica. It all because of Curry, he ruined basketball.
