    It puzzles me why somebody would lie and say they leased a car in Costa Rica for $62 when it is one of the most costly places to do so. Awful things like that would be expected from Alamo when trying to make a sale, but I am interested in hearing your reasoning for spreading such disinformation. YOU KNOW IT WASN'T JUST $62.

    • @transit2freedom
      @transit2freedom  Před rokem +11

      Most precisely, it was $61.96
      Looking at official PDF receipt now with breakdown
      Mid Size Automatic Vehicle
      Rate charge (1 week) @ $37.04
      Airport fee $5.99
      Environmental fee $2.80
      Vehicle registration recoupment fee $9.00
      IVA $7.13
      Total $61.96
      Truth here was it was one of the best deals ever 😊
      The year was 2019 (pre-covid) during slow season
      It's easy to imagine if you try

    Nicoya has some lesser known (hidden) beaches that are amazing: Quesera, Playa Posa Colorada, and Isla Tortuga, also Puerto Viejo and Cahuita in the Caribbean (my favorite park and beach in the country), and in the central valley you have Volcan Poas, Irazu, and Turrialba.

    • @jamescatholic7
      @jamescatholic7 Před 3 lety

      @@tylermay8939 Mmm... you can stay in the Central Pacific if you want access to Manuel Antonio (very touristy) but beautiful, Dominical, Bahia Ballena and Playa Ventanas. That area is wilder in vegetation with incredible cliffs and sunsets. Santa Teresa if you want to explore the the Nicoya Peninsula and surf. Samara if you want to be close to the Costa Rican "Gold Coast" and close to beaches like Carrillo in the central part of Guanacaste. And in the Caribbean you have Puerto Viejo which has beautiful beaches that you can access by bicycle with Cahuita being the highlight (for me). It's a Costa Rican/Jamaican vibe there. It'll take 4-4.5 hours on average to get to these spots (from San Jose). April is the beginning of the end of the dry season, so should still have good weather, meaning no rain.

      Absolutely! Not having a 4 wheel drive vehicle saved ~$300, if I recall correctly. Got by just fine with a little sedan. Also, traveling during the shoulder season helped (e.g., November). Lastly, using travel aggregator websites like Kayak made comparison easy. As mid-December rolls around, prices tend to increase on lodging and transportation until ~April. Hope that helps! ¡Buen viaje!

      Didn't personally have any issues. Perhaps they place a couple hundred dollar credit hold like most rental companies. You get it back upon return. Ended up with a flat tire the last day. Had just left the amazing cloud forests. Was so relaxed I just ate snacks in the car while the sun gave me a nice big hug 🤗 Was concerned later the flat might result in some fees upon return. They analyzed the tire and said, 'Good to go!' 'You sure?!' 'Yes, good to go! Safe trip home!' 'Pure vida 🙏' Was grateful for that, the spare, and a kind gentleman who saw my tire changing struggles at the cloud forest and lent a huge hand. Pura vida

      Anything is possible though recommend putting together a carless itinerary. Most major travel guides / books gear or include information for carless travelers. That's one safe place to start. Lonely Planet is one guide that tends to have information online. Just make sure modes of transport used in guides are still operating as stated
      Without ability to hop into a car at-will and move as you'd like, what you watched in video would be exceedingly challenging to recreate in 7 days and cannot be recommended

      You don't have to worry about that, all you have to do is to stay on the trails, in the forest, you can easily get lost or get yourself into danger if you come out of the well defined paths, there are also signs along the routes.
