I'm not trying to tell you what to do, but I advise you to try and stop the tobacco side of it. Use nicotine gum, the patches, vape, or whatever you need to do to quit the tobacco. Nicotine is obviously not good for the body either, but it's a hell of a lot better as a standalone alkaloid in the mentioned forms. *If I did it, I think you sure can.
How to do the trick::: When he tells Jeff to place the card on the pile in his left hand, he actually looks at the bottom card of his right hand. This lets him know the location of the card. Then he does some fancy cuts, but he is really just getting the card to the top or the bottom of the deck. Once at the top or the bottom, he can shuffle all he wants, but the card will stay in the same place. A couple more fancy cuts... and Bam. The card appears.
