    haha this was my buddies bike about a year ago and its the first two stroke i ever rode and now i have an 01 cr 250 and i can say that he took very good care of that bike and he did alot to it just before he sold it. he never raced it or rode it hard so you got yourself a good one. a few things i remember him doing was putting a new rc valve in it, forks have been rebuilt, new plastics, new throttle cable, and a few other minor things. and maybe some motor work but over all its a great bike. lots of power.

  • @elijahhall671
    @elijahhall671 Před 6 lety +4

    Yeah I'm still running the tmx on my cr. It works but not perfect. It has the power and response but I think it would love a set of jets but from my research when you jet the tmx you get the problems. So I will definitely be looking for a kehein this season. Maybe a lectron. Keep the vids coming bro.

    All you guys that have the TMX carburetor on your bike the fixes the dump tube. Honda release that carburetor with a number 9 dump tube which has low in bog a little bit of mid-range to. Yamaha released the TMX carb with a number 7 dump tube. They didn't have problems. I have a 2001 CR it has this carburetor on it so I put the number 7 dumb tube in it a 390 main jet a 40 pilot in a 2007 Mikuni needle. So for 30 bucks fix this problem

    You can actually get the tmx 38 mikuni running great with a few upgrades done to it. Jd jet kit needle is a must. I've had a 03 with air striker and two 04 models with the stock tmx and id say once dialed in the tmx rips. It feels like the bike is instant throttle response and crisp, pulls and keeps pulling, vforce reeds and pro circuit platinum with 304 silencer combo never ends.

My motorcycle does not regulate and I already repaired it but it does not like how it was. Greetings, very good video

      @roostmx  Před 5 lety

      It was one of the easiest things to do. I actually had it gave to me by a buddy but he said he bought it for $50 on amazon or ebay. Was not an authentic keihin but it fixed the problem i was having and gave the bike a totally new feel so I honestly dont care, but all you have to do is take the throttle cable off the mikuni slide and put it on the keihin and then pop it back in the boots and connect gas, not sure if it will be same for tou but i didnt even have to adjust on it. Good luck, well worth it

    @RoostMX......hey man , I just saw this video and wanted to fill you in on something you may not know about. I have a modified 2017 Husky TC 125 , in which I couldn't get the crappy Mikuni tuned right. It was super picky on temps and so forth. I got the PWK 38 from JD Jetting , along with their jet kit , BUT.....I also picked up the STIC mod metering block from Harris performance. That block seriously made my bike feel like going from a stock motor , to a fully ported motor. It is a little spendy ( $295.00 ) but worth every penny! I also just picked up my new 2018 TC 250 , which will be getting that exact same thing for. And as far as the PWK goes , I have one also on my 06' RM250 ( no STIC mod yet...but maybe? ) and I hardly ever have to tune that thing. The Mikuni changes jetting every 15 freakin' degree's outside! It's why I tossed it!

    • @Rocketman0407
      @Rocketman0407 Před 4 měsíci

      Cool classic I had XL250 many years ago.
      Both are great.
      If you want the smoothest running one the TM28 will be slightly better since the slide is better suited for small 4 stroke engines. Peak performance I think is exactly the same if they are configured well. Make sure to get jet kits as well.
      It takes some time to tune a carb, but it is easy if you do it systematically and take your time.

    I've got a 04 cr250 and I've rebuilt the thing from the ground up... decked cylinder, Eric Gorr porting.. the whole nine. From my experience the PWK is a better carb, but the Mikuni honestly isn't bad. I'll tell ya right now that pull you had at 3:47 sounded lean as all hell. I just cant stand hearing people say "it's hard to tune" when they haven't swapped a single jet.

    • @x2racer894
      @x2racer894 Před 6 lety +3

      I've ran the bike with both TPS connected and disconnected, with tps connected the bike runs a "3d" ignition map, disconnecting it forces the bike to revert to a 2d map. Some people say they have experienced more crisp throttle response with it unplugged.... I've tried both and I leave mine plugged in... not because it's better... but because I noticed no difference between the two at all.

      Ah, you have not heard of the old saying. It is what a martial arts teacher would call his student. You are in constant training to ride a bike better. It was just a joke. I'm glad you keep trying to better the bike and your riding.

      Keihin did make an airstryker carb that came stock on late model 1990 CRs and early 2000’s but that one isn’t. It’s an eBay pwk.

  • @nomdeguerre13
    @nomdeguerre13 Před 6 lety +3

    that is a fake Keihin... no water marks, etc. Could always try rejetting a carb too. Anyway, if ya like the Chinese Keihin, good deal then.

    • @roostmx
      @roostmx  Před 6 lety +1

      I mean yeah I expected that with the 50$ price lmao! But honestly with how much it changed it i could care less what it is, anyways i could sell the mikuni pretty easy for $100 on ebay because theirs nothing wrong with it just needs jetted right

    • @nomdeguerre13
      @nomdeguerre13 Před 6 lety

      roostmx yeah, hard to argue with the way it ran! Just keep in mind that quality and longevity may be an issue. Genuine Keihin jets are supposed to work from what I hear.

    • @roostmx
      @roostmx  Před 6 lety

Went back home pulled the kehin pwk off of a 98 250sx slapped it on and went out again DIFFERENT BIKE ALL TOGETHER main jet needs leaned out a tad bit but other than that carb is phenomenal.

    Well first off, the TMX is obviously not dialed in for shit, so sounds and runs like shit lmao. You throw on the dialed in carb ofcourse itll run better, but yea the PWK is the better swap.
