I usually add an after effect like gingerpale, once the smear is done, add another frame of a slightly squashed version of your character then on the next frame, make it go back to normal, it adds a bouncy effect

Also, I find it quite fascinating how these smears look so ridiculous if you just look at that one frame but when you see the actual animation, you won't even notice them!
it's seven years already and I'm still watching Jazza XD
I'm a huge fan of smear frames, but I am a 3d animator and sometimes the rig just don't support and that's why i am learning to draw better so I could add the smear frames in compositing stage later. This tutorial is a great help. :D

You can set a Cintiq to left hand mode as well. No need to flip it either as there are the same amount of customizable buttons on the left and right sides of the tablet.

Jazza, can you make another video about smears? Maybe some do's and don't? I usually overuse them
the brush tool has a smooth setting I dont know what setting Jazza uses but I use around 40-50 smoothness, and it looks his.

How do you get you lines flow and come out smooth like that? Every time i draw the lines come out ridged.
It depends on what you're drawing with and how you draw it. If you're drawing with a tablet and have a really steady hand you can get some damn smooth lines, but if you're using a mouse it will look shitty and ugly
There's a line smoothing scale in flash. If you put a higher setting on it, it smooths your lines out more

You can turn it upside down and set it to left hand mode in the tablet preferences located in control panel (after driver installation) and use it as and right handed user would, at least for the bamboo or intuos series not sure with cintiq.

Hey Jazza, could you tell us what tool and tool settings you're using for your lines in Flash? When I use the pen tool with pen pressure on my lines appear to either be too thick or random thickness throughout the stroke. (Using a Cintiq by the way, if that makes any difference).

It's not the tablet. There's a built in line smoothing scale in flash.
