What's the greatest Hail Mary of All-Time?⬇
Kordell Stewart’s Hail Mary to beat Michigan at Michigan wasn’t even mentioned come on man lol
WE WANY BRADY!!!
When are you folks gonna bring Brady here?
@@gameswithnamespod Oh Brady hit Edelnut on a Hail Mary to end practice and beat the defense one day. Get Brady here to tell it. -Randy Moss
@gameswithnamespod Drake Maye can take a backseat. Let’s get Baker Mayfield on to talk the 2018 Rose Bowl. Even tho we lost… BOOMER!
“I’d rather have a Little Flutie than a Big Johnson” had to be one of the funniest signs anyone’s held up at an NFL game during the QB controversy in Buffalo 😂
And now he sleeps with other peoples wives. Not a good dude. Facts
The Hail Mary made him a Boston college legend. The drop kick made him a patriot legend. The man etched his name in Massachusetts folklore.
And all with a cup of Dunkin Donuts coffee in his hand
But He’s All The Way A Buffalo legend
And the greatest Canadian football league player of all time hands down without a doubt and it’s not close
Guy won the Heisman and was the first college qb to throw for 10,000 yards. I’m pretty sure he’s a legend without the Hail Mary
And he's a legend in Canada
1986 training camp...three 12 year old kids sneak behind the stadium to see if they can check out some players.a Porsche pulls up outside gates, can't see inside, pulls into the gated area and pulls along side the fence. Door opens, music is jamming real loud, it's DOUG FLUTIE! He climbs the fence and reaches thru barbed wire to grab our pamphlets or whatever...gets back down, signs them all and has an AWESOME conversation with the kids and hands the autographs back. Hour or more later, he is running down the path to practice and stops to the same 3 kids and signs the same pamphlets! LEGENDARY PERSON! I WAS ONE OF THOSE KIDS!
Great story. Can picture it clearly
Every new episode is my favorite episode. Jules killing it
Appreciate the love!
I can remember Flutie flakes like it was yesterday😂 No joke, he was a fantastic example of never quitting and overcoming stupid odds!!!!
And now he sleeps with other peoples wives. Not a good dude.
We need Flutie in College Football 25.
🤔 that would actually
want me to play 25
Doug's Drop Kick is still one of my favorite Pat's moments.
Damn you beat me to it by hours lol. Hell of a play
Julian Edelman is doing a great job with this channel. The episodes with Ernie Adams & Mathew Slater are instant classics & worthy additions to NFL history.
Flutie in the Kayak in a flood on the news is literally the funniest thing all week
I saw Flutie play basketball with a bunch Patriots at Lowell High School in 1988. He hit a half court shot at the half-time buzzer. The guy was just a natural athlete.
Flutie is the man. Thanks for making this happen.
Just watch your wives around him - he does not respect the sanctity of marriage. Facts
Yeah, Doug is just a great authentic person. What you see is what you get. Such a great dude! 😎
Douglas… you are a class act. So happy to see you on my favorite podcast.
I don’t know if it was your(against all odds) success in football over 25+ years, that Wakefield hat, your dedication to autism awareness, your skills as a drummer, always representing Boston with such dignity, or some combination of all of it that has made you one of my heroes and a man that I admire tremendously. Thank you.
I'll never forget the drop kick Flutie did for an extra point against Miami, lol. Crazy i was 8 months old when flutie played in this college game.
The best game ever! And Doug the most Underrated football player! He was never given a true Opportunity to excel! They always talked his size
Flutie Brothers Band played at the KaTiki on Sunset Beach at Treasure Island in Florida, Doug, Darren, and Darren's daughter sat at our table during the bands breaks. We are from Mass and Doug signed my Pats hat, it's hanging in my office and I'm looking at it.
Saw Ditka speak one time and he said if it was up to him, Flutie would have been his starter….”can’t teach someone to be a winner. Flutie is a winner”. He had so much success whenever he was given a chance. Tore up Canada too. On the downside, my sister and brother in law (non-sports dude) stayed at my house and ate my flutie flakes…even though it was on display and not in the kitchen. Great athlete and good dude.
I watched that game with my Dad who was a BC graduate and I told him that it was a great game I'm sorry you guys didn't win as the ball was in the air......the rest is history 😭
Eat anything but the flutie flakes. Nooooo!!!
What a shit move by your sister and brother in law! I would have pulled a raging Ric Flair tantrum.
He continues to challenge himself even today - by trying to sleep with other peoples wives. Facts.
@@stevensmall9398 right? I still give him grief
Its worth pointing out that Flutie is wearing the number 49 hat- for Red Sox pitcher Tim Wakefield who died earlier this year from brain cancer. Doug Flutie is a class act.
Love the podcast. Grew up in Boston, and remembered how at BC he had the whole region following BC Football. I am glad this was taped in the Boston Area, because Doug is local, but Jules miight as well be from the area. Look at all the Boston team stuff he wears. Both are great.
This is the sort of stuff I love about football. The stories, the way he talks about the people and placed he's played with, the way he describes the game... This is some good stuff.
Doug is one of best college quarterbacks of all time.
I play ice hockey with Flutie in our local men’s league-a genuine individual.
The best! Can still snap it around I'd assume.
@@gameswithnamespod Heard he plays goalie? Can you confirm?
@@kylerschelling He plays both. He started as a goalie and excelled, so he was moved to a higher-skilled league. He skates out in my league (one level lower)-he is still a great competitor.
@@gameswithnamespod Without a doubt. It’s easy to see the natural athlete in him.
Has he tried to sleep with your wife yet - if not you probably aren’t married. #keepurwivesAway
I never understood why he didn't get more love in the NFL. Panama!
He gets lots of love now after relentlessly pursuing married women. #creep

Doug is cool. He lives in the same county as me in FL. I’ve never met him, but I’d love to meet the BC legend. He drives a Batmobile, too, which is neat to see in public.
Who doesn’t love Doug Flutie. He showed EVERYONE he could succeed in the NFL. Too bad it took them so long. Way to go Flutie!
Flutie is a Massachusetts legend thank you Doug for always being loyal to mass and
representing the state and
yourself like a pro and a gentleman
Flutie in the CFL is some of the best football ever played. His highlights are ridiculous and his play style was so ahead of its time.
You’ve had Gronk, Amendola, Manning, Law, Kupp, and recently Doug Flutie but when will yall bring Randy Moss or Brady cuz we’ve been waiting soo long!? Love the podcast!❤️
Definitely!
When was manning on the podcast?
Eli manning was on the video with Tedy Bruschi recapping about the perfect season and Peyton was on the video recapping his 7 tds as a bronco!
I have a box of Flutie flakes no sh. Love both these guys. Thanks for the great games, guys.
It’s 40 years since Hail Flutie
Unbelievable
I’m just gonna say it, Doug is the best qb of all time simply because he was captured on live tv kayaking through a flooded river by chance, I know the two on paper aren’t related but the simple fact he appeared like a unicorn makes him unstoppable
One of my favorite episodes Flutie was great a😅mazing dude believe it or not he also throws a good knuckle ball
Love this episode with Mayor Flutie. Great player and even a better person.
Not true - he tries to sleep with everyone’s wives. Facts.
Flutie is brilliant…
I remember coming home from dinner as a kid that weekend and my Dad and I turned on the tv just in time to see the “Hail Flutie”…
Played flag football in natick in 1994. Fluties brother played and Doug would come and throw the ball around before the game. It was incredible to watch him him throw. The ball just exploded out of his hand.
My buddy was a backup QB @ TROY and even His throws are so pretty
Just flicks the wrist and 💋👌
I grew up in the middle of nowhere Kentucky. I was 10 years old when this game happened. I remember my mother and I jumping up and down, running around the living room, just going nuts when that play happened. Great episode!! So entertaining!! Thanks guys!!
The term "Hail Mary" came from Roger Staubach. When Roger was asked about the throw he made vs Minnesota He said
"I closed my eyes and said a Hail Mary." That's how the desperation play got its name
I started laughing my head off when the Larry Bird talk started. I still watch his highlights just about every week. Brains are so exciting. I think that is why I became a Tom Brady fan, too.
The only issue I have with this interview is that no one gave the name of the game a 10. Literally a top 3 name in all sports. Absolutely iconic. Does not get any better.
Flutie is a football legend
A goddamn New England icon!
I loved Flutie when he played for the Pats in the late 80s/early 90s
Two legends: Doug Flutie wearing a Wakefield hat ❤.
Planned to read a book and have this on in the background. Didn't expect the detail and the hilarity. Very good podcast, and DF is a legend. I was 17 yo in 1984 and played ball. Pre-internet, pre-YT we watched that game and that play for months (on VHS tape) I loved him at every single stop on his career.
Flutie was just an overall incredible athlete. He was a great basketball and baseball player.
Thank You Julian it was a pleasure for this Flutie, Boston College and The Doug Flutie Jr Foundation fan to see this. So many memories from that.
Great show guys, Flutie is a class act
Flutes is the man!!
He bought lights for the Natick fiotball fields back when that was unheard of for north east towns. Legend. youtube doug flutie catches ball at fenway also: athlete.
He caught a HR ball @ Fenway ??
Drake Maye UNC vs Appalachian State 2023 double overtime victory against the Happy Appy’s. Maye had the winning TD run in the 2nd overtime. Great game although he didn’t have any passing TDs
Finally, someone has a suggestion
Thanks for bringing Flutie on. This was awesome!
Flutie Magic
Awesome for Flutie to get his proper dues
The miracle in Miami has to be at the top of the most remembered college football games. 40 years and Fluties hail mary is still talked about.
The talent to play qb and start at the D1 level and be 5 '10" is amazing. Imagine trying to throw over those huge lineman trying rip your head off. Flutie had a great career and is a humble guy to top it off.
Very happy to have seen Flutie in his prime in Canada and winning three Grey Cups in 1992, 1996 and 1997.
Doug Is a cocoa beach legend!!!
Indeed - he is constantly raking up his number of married women he has pursued. #creep. #respectARing
Love myself some Doug Flutie. He is something else. ✌️
He won’t love you but will love on your wife. #facts #briansWife
@@superfan4345???

I wore #2 in college because of Doug Flutie. Great role model through out his career.
Flutie could take a hit too I thought they killed him a few times . He bounced right back up.
Mr. Flutie is has always been The most loved patriots players ever in my circle of friends! The hail Mary the drop kick. Even in the early years we all wanted Doug over Eason 1 million percent. Love this man! Thanks for giving us this podcast.
Flutie was one of my all time favs growing up in the Midwest. I being a "short king" he was pretty short for QBs and pulled some all time great tricks and Hail Marys . He made a way for short kings everywhere
I watched Flutie play for five years in Calgary and he was always amazing. Then he got hurt and Jeff Garcia took over for the biggest rivalry game of the year and won it!
That's a Natick helmet. Great shoutout to his high school.
I still remember watching this game and play at the last minute 😮😢could not believe it 😮😢
I’m a die hard buckeye fan but I LOVED Doug flutie when I was a kid.. 4 years old I can remember sitting in front of the tv watching him throw that pass. Even at 4 I knew I was watching something great! Want a great interview! Good job edelnut
honestly the only thing i remember about varsity blues, is the whipped cream and the cherries, lol
the big fella was funny, thats about it lol
😁 👍👍
That & the cortisone injection scene.
Cowboys fan here, props to Doug for giving Captain America credit. Love the pod boys.
BC beating Miami was a miracle. Need to bring on Alfonso Highsmith or Melvin Britton to talk Miami's side of the miracle in miami
What's Alphonso up to these days?
I like how Flutie gives credit to others and remembers names - he should write a book about his adventures in football
My two favorite athletes growing up were Doug Flute and Larry Bird.
Flutie flakes!!! 🤣🤣 growing up with a dad obsessed with anything sports related bought a box of flutie flakes 20 years ago in a grocery outlet in California and still has it at the end of 30 other sport collectible cereal. 🤣
Doug is a legend
It's crazy because JE11 catch vs the Falcons will be remembered forever as well.
All Time Play Baby
Great guest! Well done.
these get better and better boys!!! Thanx for the entertainment.
I’m a high school coach of 30 years and Flutie was my favorite, as smaller athletes in multiple sports, including football, I’ve coached have won many, many championships for us…
Two of the greatest Boston legends ever. Great episode. ❤
Doug was the King of Football in Boston before Tom. It was fun to be a student at BC during the Flutie years. Had that game actually happened at Chestnut Hill the city would have gone crazy.
A lot of folks really liked #1 overall draft pick Drew Bledsoe before Brady broke out in 2001.
This game was a win/win for me. Flutie fan made me a BC fan and a Jimmy Johnson/Miami Canes fan!
Love that Flutie
Thanks Jules
He will love your wife more than you love him. He sees wedding rings as true challenges and he is persistent.
#briansfriend
@@superfan4345 If Brian is as obnoxious as his friends, it wouldn't be much of a surprise if his wife has had enough of him.
Is that a Tim Wakefield hat?? So cool!!
Gotta love Doug. I went to a Patriots practice many years ago and he was running around out there. There was media and then a few fans. He was so cool to talk to. Just seems like a down to earth guy.
Games With Names hits #1 Podcast level
I grew up tailgating at alumni with my dad who is an alum. I have a picture at like 4yo with Romo. My dad's seats were on the 50 right under the box. Speaker of the house Tip O'Neil had seats a lil behind us. Brought back a lot of memories.
Tip O'Neil?
That's old school Boston
What a time to be from Boston
But now?? 🤦🏼♂️
@@DavidBarton777 yep I moved north to NH. Come November hopefully we see some changes.
Flutie was clutch. He also had a mean drop kick!
Best drop kick in the game!
It was fun Seeing Flutie on! Great get & Great show keep up the great work, And I Know it's been Requested a Million times, but you got to Get Coach Belichick on!! Let's GO!👍🏼
Would love just to hear him our any CFL players that did both sides to hear more stories about their time up north. Love your charity and charities.
Millis being mentioned on such popular podcast is absolutely blowing my mind right now 😂
Nailed the intro
Funny drop kick story: My dad comes blaring into my room seconds after Flutie did it for the Pats, I missed it. I say “what’s a drop kick?” My dad proceeds to take my mid sized XFL football, drops it, kicks it perfectly, it soars past my face and goes STRAIGHT thru my bedroom window and out the door…why didn’t you catch it!? My dad says…”I wasn’t expecting you to do what you just did Dad” 😂😂😂 window pane was taped with duct tape for years hahahahaa
😂
I was at the drop kick game. Thank you Paper Store.
Paper Store ???
The shout out to Pino’s made the episode for me lol
Get Drake to break down his brother Luke’s shot against Kentucky. Legendary Tarheel moment!
yes please bring larry on, would love it
I’m 42. When I was a kid the Patriots were terrible, the Celtics were rebuilding, the Red Sox were the Yankees lil sister and all the Bruins had was #77. Then Brady came
I’m sure you will get a million of these but, he was so much fun to watch in Canada.
As a guy from Toronto, his CFL career was insane. Would have loved to see Doug win a SB.
Great content
My understanding is that Roger Staubauch originated the term Hail Mary for a long shot pass.
And Roger Staubach is a good man - Doug Flutie pursues married women and is a creep.
If you watched, you'd hear Flutie credit Staubach w/ the 1st use of the term.
Julllllesssssss damn i miss you and brady and the patriots.. football aint been the same dawg. Love yall
You, Daimion and Dunagan are my CFL quarterbacks Moon is Iconic but you three remade the league for me.
Thank you
