It was interesting when you had the Williams pliers apart. Just 4 pieces of steel and when assembled they are a tool that changed the world. No power cords, no internet connectivity, no lifetime warranty, no nothing! But they work. And you ScoutCrafter have restored them to their original splendor. And the story of those pliers continues on into 2024.
The pliers are beautiful, you probably made them nicer then when they were new. Williams wrenches are my favorite. Just a great tool. The blue handles are very pretty, I guess that may not be masculine. I had a Cornell that took the the bits. It was a great tool until I twisted it. Blue and green handles, it’s hard to decide. Great show , thank You
Like the cobalt blue screw driver handle, better watch out MAGDAD 357 will be lookin to run off with those screw holding drivers. The WILLIAMS pliers were sweet, like the narrow profile on them. Thanks for the video young man.
Great tutorial and the screwdrivers and pliers look fantastic! I agree that tools sometimes lack the quality and many years ago. Thanks for sharing this.
I was amazed at the sound of the steel! I have a machinist hammer exactly like the one you have. I used to play with it when I went to my Grandmothers house when I was a kid. God only knows how old it is. I'm 50 now. I have used that hammer for so many things and abused it when I was a kid. That cobalt blue screwdriver handle is amazing. I would grab that up in a second if I saw it.
Pre-WWII. Before all the good steel went to the war effort. I wasn’t sold on the Plast-X at first but I’ve since come around. It’s pretty good stuff. 👍🏼😃
My wife's kitchen decor is all Colbolt Blue. I think I need to find some of those screwdrivers for her kitchen drawer to complete the decora. 🤔 Great Williams pilers cleanup. With that ringtone, one could use the pair to ring the crew for dinnertime...
Nice to see some vintage screwdrivers with plastic handles without the usual paint marks on them. Thanks for suggesting picking up one of those small ball peen (machinist) hammers. Terrific job on the restoration of the Williams, water pump pliers and thanks for sharing!
Those pliers came out so well. They are beautiful. To think they could have gone to the dump by someone else makes me relieved you got them. I like your attitude: Go down to the shop, decide what tools you want to restore, and have fun doing it. Sounds like freedom to me.
I have my original machine shop project from 8th grade, a machinists hammer almost identical to yours. It served me well over the years, massaging parts to fit, and they are very useful.
I too have gotten Into wire wheeling old tools and then buffing them out. It's oddly satisfying renewing a simple tool. I noticed I tend to use them more around the shop once I've cleaned them up. Is it the shineiness, or the fact you saved an old tool? Maybe just the feel of it in your hand. Keep up the good work Scout crafter
Blu-tee-ful! That blue came out nice! And the pliers...daggum they look good! Then handles remind me of rebar, I bet they feel real good in the hands smooth over like you have them now.... Thanks Mr. John
Hi John, I use the screw holding driver for just one job-installing ceiling fan screws. I am up a ladder, holding the part with one hand and can start the screw with my other with one of those. I have dropped and lost so many screws that way that they are worth buying just for that application.
Another great video. Now I know how to maintain my screw-holding screwdrivers. All my Williams screwdrivers have the old snap-on black handles, I guess I missed the boat.
I found a pair of the later Williams pliers in the pawn shop junk bin. I piled up all the good US made old crusty dirty tools. Guy said $3. I almost broke my wrist getting to the wallet quick enough.
Great video 👍 Those Quick Wedge screw holding screwdrivers🪛 turned out fantastic. Good information on how to straighten the tips if they get twisted 👍. That cobalt blue Phillips screwdriver 🪛 cleaned up beautifully, it Looks awesome! That PlastX is some great stuff! Wow! You made that Williams 1520 pliers look like N.O.S., fantastic job!👍 Williams still makes the 1520 plier ,but looks more like a Channellock plier and is thicker also. It was great to see the Dake in action . That bolt was no match for the Dake 😆. Those thin pliers are nice to get in tight ,close quarter areas and the teeth, even though they were thin looked pretty beefy to grip on to a fastener.👍What a great tool to put back into service. Well again great video and can’t wait to see what you do on Friday. 😃👍👍
How right you are, Scout. The thinner, the better quality. I got some German wrenches which don't look like much until you use them. I just cleaned up a pair of German pump pliers ( like those Williams ) that I was ready to toss and then I needed them. They aren't any toys regardless of how skimpy they look!
Short & sweet ! Those Cobalt blue screwdrivers are beautiful and the Williams pliers came out great, your skill with the angle grinder and flap disc is phenomenal, if a little scary at times !
I have a nice pair of Williams flyers of the Channel Lok style. They are in a light black oxide finish. I use them a lot especially when doing plumbing work.
When the Steel sounds like those Williams the Pitting is usually minimal......Hard to beat a Blue Handled Driver, I like it better than the Green ones.
Bucket O' Tools!! ya know that went right over the heads of 99.99% of the Boys eh!! I turn my hunk of RR Track upside down in the vise when I need something really flat to beat on for bigger pieces!!☻
The thin pliers, though that one has a huge range of sizes, are good for inside case work, such as electrical boxes. I used a bent nose one for micrometer repair/recertification as a Gage Officer in a production facility.
Hi John. Great video. You did a great job on that pliers. Old tools look soooooo great when cleand up. You have a great talent. Have a great week. 👍👍❤..
Beautiful pliers with a quality hard to match today and only ones made around the same time could maybe equal them. The quick-wedge screw holding drivers seem to be ever present at flea markets and such, though I do not recall seeing them at hardware stores or industrial supply jobbers from years past. Obviously though someone was using them, and now I am. Thanks again!
Those cobalt blue screwdrivers are beautiful--nice cleanup on those. Those pliers are also amazing! Love that little machinist hammer--nice job ScoutCrafter!
I've got some Williams stuff but can't remember what it is/are/ As long as they stay put. NICE fixes so take care and happy week and God Bless YOU and the varmints!
Williams tools made now have a connection to Snap on. Sort of like a generic or a a home owner line of tools. Snap-on Industrial Brands, historically J.H. Williams Tool Group, is a division of American hand tool manufacturer Snap-on that makes and distributes tools to industrial markets. In addition to the Williams brand from which it originated, the group includes Bahco and CDI Torque Products
If you know anything about harmonics you can get all sorts of things to ring. I've even gotten a 2x4 to ring holding it 1/3 the way down on the narrow sides between my fingers and striking the lower portion. Keep on ringin'!
The interesting grip on the Williams would be interesting to see dipped in plasti-dip. I bet he heavy structure of the grip will show thru the plasti-dip pretty well. 🤔🤔🤔
Nice restoration on those Williams. The one detail that was not mentioned was the teeth sharpness. Curious how sharp the factory had them when new and if there were obvious signs of wear that could have been improved with a triangle file.
I prefer Williams tools to all other brands of tools EXCEPT for Snap-on hard handle screwdrivers. In fact I'm slowly building a complete collection of Williams for my day to day use.
Hi John. How are you cutting up the aluminum cans you use to protect tools during restoration? Everything I've tried ends up with the cans getting all bent up & twisted. Thanks!
Question... You corrected one misstatement, but routinely interchanged nut for screw, slip joint for groove joint, and wrench for pliers and visa versa. Is this a colloquialism of your region? I was a technical writer as a side gig, this required fastidious word accuracy. I am also married to a wordsmith. These dynamics cause me to cringe when folk make this type of error. You didn't dwell long enough on the screw starting screw drivers. I have used this style for 30 years and think that they are the best design ever put on the market. I own at least 3 brands, but I am certain that they were all made by the same manufacturer. I have 8 or 10 sizes and lengths and about 20 individual tools. They are almost an obsolete tool since slotted screws are almost obsolete. I keep mine for the occasional requirement and added more to the inventory since they are now very inexpensive on the used market. I am old enough to recognize their value, but my son's are uninterested. Slotted hardware is probably ancient technology to them.
It’s strange, when working on videos , thinking about shot composition, focus, talking into a screen, volume… It really messes with your vocabulary. I don’t make these mistakes in person. (Not as many). 😂👍
Awesome show!
The Williams wrench looked great !
Thank You for sharing John
Everybody's favorite " The DAKE"!!! I just "knew" it was a‐coming! 😂

Great restorations, ScoutCrafter. A pleasure to watch. I have a few of those ball peins in different sizes. A great shop hammer.
All the best to you.
Boy did those pliers turn out nice. Just beautiful.
Best 12 minutes of my day.

Very nice beautiful restorations. Like the cobalt blue. The Williams 1520 is beautiful, also.
I have quite a few old Williams tools and they have been very good. Nice video. Good Luck, Rick
Great tutorial and the screwdrivers and pliers look fantastic! I agree that tools sometimes lack the quality and many years ago. Thanks for sharing this.
my day is always enhance by your regular visits to your "OASIS / REFUGE from this world, thxs for sharing and caring...hi Pipes
You sound like you feel better John, always like seeing what's up, missing the poor man's flee market though

Wow that sound from the steel 👍 and beautiful pieces too 🤩
Awesome job tonight, I have to say the Williams was my favorite. The screwdrivers also turned out wonderfully, thanks again and see you Friday

Glad a found a pair on eBay B4 everyone seen this live the blue handle on the essco screwdriver
I just love the lines on those Williams pliers. Williams is one of my favorite brands. Second only to Craftsman.

Yes! Rebar! 😃👍
Love those EASCO, the color just popped! Beautiful job on the Williams. Get enough of those and you make make a set of wind chimes!
Love that Blue Quick-Wedge

The cobalt blue is really nice looking. The Williams 1520 is really nice looking I love the handles.
The pliers look terrific, much better than new. I love hearing the sound of good quality steel ringing.
Dave.

I love watching you do pliers, I learn something every time!

Fun midweek. Love the cobalt blue, didn’t realize those screw holding screwdrivers were old school, and that thin slip joint was cool. 🇺🇸
Beautiful Williams plier
Short & sweet ! Those Cobalt blue screwdrivers are beautiful and the Williams pliers came out great, your skill with the angle grinder and flap disc is phenomenal, if a little scary at times !
John, your are a Master. love that williams pliers. vintage tools are the best
You know, you put out such good quality content I don't understand why your subscription numbers aren't higher? ❤
I like that piece of railroad steel. They’re very handy to have.
I have a nice pair of Williams flyers of the Channel Lok style. They are in a light black oxide finish. I use them a lot especially when doing plumbing work.
More tools saved from the dump! Those plyers are fantastic.

I wasn't expecting you to keep the Williams name. It was so fainth to start with. Very productive evening for you indeed. I like all of those tools.
Love cobalt blue, and the Williams plyers are beautiful, Well done
Nice clean ups. Those Williams look handy.
I love that blue.
I bought a thin slip joint pliars like those Williams at a garage sale but the brand is Mephisto stamped in a gothic style. Seem to be very well made.

Aye Miguel lol I hope the cat water ice missed him lol
So wait man you used to show your work on all the tools. I feel like we just got gypped!
Gotcha 👍👍🔩🔩
hello snoopy!
If you know anything about harmonics you can get all sorts of things to ring. I've even gotten a 2x4 to ring holding it 1/3 the way down on the narrow sides between my fingers and striking the lower portion. Keep on ringin'!
Nice video. I am guessing you waxed the pliers. Always an education.
Yes- Polish then wax. 😃👍

Probably Williams water pump pliers for 1930's automobiles mechanic.
I've found, that an easy way to remove the nut from pliers, is to mount the nut in my vise, and then turn the whole pliers.
Nice outcome! I've never seen screw drivers like that. Were they a common tool?
Do you remember Great Neck tools they were sold by Zayre they weren't great they were ok I still have some today.
Yes- They were a solid brand. 😃👍
Hi John. How are you cutting up the aluminum cans you use to protect tools during restoration? Everything I've tried ends up with the cans getting all bent up & twisted. Thanks!
..... and don't be stingy with the 50 / 50 !!

Fantastic video scout really interesting stuff might have to pick one of those screwdrivers up
