This is an Asian spa where each gender is sectioned off because we are completely NAKED in that area! It’s not just some quick change, you are sitting in the jacuzzi with them. AND it is very common practice to bring your kid of the same gender with you because these places are supposed to be family friendly.
The people who are transgender in Asia either don’t go to the baths or go with their biological gender. That’s it.

@Mug_Tea_Coffee Wi Spa only recently changed this rule too. I went there 5 years ago with a friend and they had strict women-only floors. I only really go to these places in Japan but I cannot imagine this even being up for discussion.

I guess all the unisex bathhouses are just myths then. The issue is one of awareness and accomodations. If the spa advertised and posted it is unisex then there should be no issue. That does not appear to be the case here so I can understand why people were upset. This notion though that no woman feels safe around a naked man or even the reverse shows how repressed people are in this country. Clothing or lack there of does not indicate or dictate action/motive. Does that mean if there is a naked female stranger the assumption should be she is trying to seduce a man? Rediculous.

Furthermore, what gives the transgender community authority to insist that business owners foot this extra expense? I think transgender people need to consider the feelings of most others and prioritize community needs above their own. The best solution I have seen is single stall toilets at an airport that any gender can use privately, but it sucks being a woman to have to wash your pits and fix your makeup in front of all the guys meandering about in the common area of the handwashing facilities Kind of humiliating. Women have some very personal and intimate hygiene needs.

The more immediate problem is that men who are not trans are indeed taking advantage of the current situation and walking into women’s change lockers/showers. It’s pretty obvious when someone has splotched some lipstick on, a dress, and then ogles all the naked and semi-naked women in the locker room that they aren’t there legitimately. It’s disgusting. People are going to end up being beat up or worse when this reaches a boiling point.

Like, women and only women are entitled to the women's bathroom, but Transwomen being able to enter the bathroom legally disregards their entitlement to their gendered bathroom. The purpose of separate bathrooms for genders is so each could feel comfortable and when you have transwomen coming into the bathroom with their...appendages out, then it makes them really uncomfortable and it's also dangerous, especially for young children. Disabled individuals have an environment whereby they are given the platform to compete without abled bodied individuals shaming the effort and years they put into practicing and perfecting their craft. Whereby for women, "originally men" can enter that field and shame the heck out of them.

Imagine making a relay race at the Olympics for trans women and only 3 competitors come to compete because they are a small percentage. I work at a school in California and I was told the other day I can’t tell girls who feel like a boy for that week they need to use the unisex bathroom. It pisses me off because there are times I’ve had to check the boys bathroom and caught boys smoking and even found a switch blade in there. But now I don’t feel comfortable to go in there. All it takes is for this girl to say I did something or saw something. Their putting my life at risk. Or what if this girl makes a complaint because she saw a boys junk. Or on the flip side what if there’s weirdo adults who take advantage of the situation or boys harassing this girl because of her beliefs. It’s a loose loose all around and the state and school districts are setting us all up for problems. The safety for the majority out weights the feeling of the minority!

Trans issues really have to rely on women being forgiving and "nice" and just assumes they will be okay with it. Women's sports - forget women who may have invested a lifetime in getting good at sports, and then having to compete against biological men. Women's change rooms - I think it's the change rooms that's the issue, the bathrooms maybe less so. Safety is an issue.

I took my daughters in the men's room when they had to pee, until they were about 7. Then I stood RIGHT outside of the woman's room when they had to go (so I could hear them if they needed me. it's scary raising kids in this crazy world.

Caring for people in itself is not bad , but is absurd to use that as a standard to make laws, because it is highly subjective.

When I was breastfeeding my daughter, I was aware that it was legal for me to breastfeed her in public, however, knowing that it made people uncomfortable, I would either use a blanket to cover up or normally, I just tried to feed her privately. Who wants to make others uncomfortable and especially unsafe?!? It's absolutely unthinkable to me that someone would feel so comfortable making so many people including CHILDREN, feel unsafe...
Also, the reason that a transman would have less issues going into the men's bathroom is because there isn't a physical threat being posed the way there is when a transwoman goes into the women's bathroom.

Most men's sports are actually Open classes, meaning anyone can enter. It's just that women have a physical penalty so not many women actually do, which is why they got their own Women's class. Transgenders should compete where they are meant to, in the Open class along with men.

I personally don't mind unisex bathrooms when you are talking about individual cubicles, changing rooms on the other hand is very different. It wouldn't be cost effective for individual cubicles as the space issue with dry changing and individual showers for example. But if I was showering after a sauna for instance in a spa, and a man with all of his tackle wandered in and started changing next to me I'd be more than a little worried.

I 100% agree with Preach's statement about keeping his daughter with him to the bathroom. When my husband is deployed, my sons ALWAYS went in the women's room with me for safety until they were old enough to buddy system and I was still inside mens bathroom entrance talking to them. Same for my daughter, if I'm not present, she goes in with my husband. I trust no adult around my kids for good reason. Wish more parents took these measures, especially with their boys sending alone to the restrooms.
I too brought my son into the ladies room when he was young and lingered outside the men's room when he got older. I would not bring my child, or myself, in to a communal changing area. Imagine having a transgender girl child and people insisting she use the men's room.

100% it's sad but true and no parent should be taken chances with their childrens safety. I don't have children but when my sisters children where younger whenever I had them out with me in my care if they needed to use the bathroom I took the boys to the ladies until they were old enough and even then I would walk them to the bathroom and wait outside so I could keep them as safe as possible and I'm sorry children's safety is more important than anybodies feelings.
