This is what one full year of game development looks like, if you want to know how to make a game, I shared some helpful links in the description. This is my first game, I'm making it in unreal engine, it's a physics-based boxing game. In this video I share my journey through making my first game, lots has happened in the past year - I learned Unreal Engine in 1 month, quit my job, moved to an island and am now working full time on making my first game and making youtube videos.
This is how making games changed my life, I did not expect at all what was to come and now I share my story so far. I'm very positive about the future and I am on track to finishing my first game. If you want to develop your own game, I suggest starting small, don't overscope. Aim to complete your project within one month, and keep doing that until your confidence grows. It's easy to get discouraged looking at videos like making a game in 1 day, making a game in 2 hours, etc but making games takes time. Keep going. - ZĂĄbava
Forgot to mention in the video - I linked the courses I took to learn game dev in the description in case you are interested in learning like I did :) Also, SUBSUBSUBSUBSUBSUB

Hej Pontypants jag Àr svensk och tycker att dina videos Àr super bra
Hi
I literally just thought, "oh I haven't seen a punch a bunch video in a while." I manually searched up your channel and clicked your most recent video. I then notice it only has about 600 views. Then I realize it was uploaded 7 minutes ago.
that what you get for not turning on notifications
@@aminp-wn5fw CZcams doesn't notify all subs immediately when the vid is uploaded... Sometimes I get a notification and then vid is already up for 30 mins....
As a game developer with 3+ years experience. Your game genuinely got a shot to be a big hit. Possibly making millions.

I can't believe it's been a year , time flies when your having fun
Yeah ikr
True
i just want to correct, you can combine animations with physics in Unity by creating a non physics Character and letting the physics character try to recreate the rotation. There is a great Video when searching: recreating gang beast, where there is a animation vid in the playlist.
Great video PontyPants đ
oh sweet, watching that video! Thanks! :D

Happy anniversary, great work.
You motivated me to keep pushing! I was so ready to give up on a FPS game Iâm making. Seeing your videos motivated me to switch to unreal and Iâm feeling very confident. Thank you.
Watching your videos make me happy - really appreciate the vulnerability in this one too. There's a ton of us that can relate!

Love it dude! Your devlogs have inspired me to start recording my own footage for my own youtube, just gotta take some time out of learning and making my game to make the youtube haha. Thanks for inspiring bro! đđŒ
As much as your content and game looks and feels amazing, I think it's your laugh that hooked me. It's contagious :D

And comments like yours inspire me to continue :) We're all in this together! :D
It's so motivating to watch your videos, especially since your video about the comfort zone. And dude... one has to be fully convinced of a project to give up one's job at ILM for it! O.o Daaam, you're a maker!! Thanks for your work. I wish you a lot of yt-algo-juice!
holy shit congrats!!! i remember watching the first ones and thinking it was really cool!! I even gave an idea one time i think
Been here since like the second video, and what a journey it has been, congrats on a whole year dude!
đđ Thanks for sticking around. I really appreciate it!
Keep it up this has been amazing đ€© I love your videos
Congrats!
@Pontypants ski or die was a game i played back in school in the 90s, you snowboard idea gave me instant flash backs lol
I find dev logs are very motivational and entertaining, shows me that I'm not the only one stuck at that, like I'm in a true learning journey with you, not as in Tutorials they're always trying to show how god they are.
You're just hands down inspiring mate :)
Congrats on sticking to it for one whole year! That alone is where many many others have failed. Love the videos and hope the game keeps coming along the way you want it to!
this was very nice to hear, very relatable
Great vid. I always relate to your thoughts so much. I think itâs the backwards mesh cap. It creates similar brain patterns. You mentioned making games takes time. What you didnât mention is making videos takes time too... especially this quality. Take your time, do it right. You have so much natural talent and charisma the opportunity will be there always. Cheers! đ„đȘđŒ
Thanks for this. I needed to hear im not the only one who burned myself out on my game. I also have been working on a project for a year and I've put so much into it that I was just getting burned out hard I had to stop and get back to relaxing and just play some games instead of making one. But after 1 month of that and hearing this I'm back at it. Thanks for the spark I needed.
69k sub very very noice!
seriously don't give up on the game, it will reward you. the community love it. I myself waiting for the release to play it.
Hey, it was a really long journey, and the game is looking so good. Keep in that way :3
Subbed. I'll be starting my own game dev journey shortly. Thanks for linking the courses.
Killing it dude!
Awesome. Thanks for this video.
This videos are just awesome!

it's crazy to think i already has been so long, for me this year felt like a month or 3. it's also insane how much you grew in only a year, i wish it happened to me also, but you really deserve it for all the work you have put into this so for, and all the work you will ever put into this, we love you.
Keep going :) Keep looking at other channels and it will work out, that's all I did :) Time really does fly, can't believe it's already been a year...

Congrats on one year. CZcams decided to show me your first video a year ago. I've been watching ever since.
Great video!
a lot of inspiration to also make games... Thanks bro :D
your devlogs are really good
Ive been here since devlog 1 and i feel like youre gonna get 200k till the end of 2021, and yes i am DAMN EXCITED FOR THE NEXT DEVLOG!!!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
I started following your channel after seeing your 6-month progress video and since then, I've made 2 games! One in UE4 and one in Unity. The Unity game was also my first time doing a game jam, which may or may not have been influenced by seeing your video about joining the Brackey's jam ;)
I can't believe that it had been one whole year !
I 'm watching you since 900subs
And I dont feel like it has been a year
Like when I saw your first devlog I was just seting the ideas of my game
And like progress was so slow
And now after finishing 1% of my game
I see you like donning all this progress
It just great and dad how slow iam
Looking forward to everything with you
What a wonderfully honest account of your journey. Very inspiring. Wishing you all the best and lots of future success. My train is on the same track but my sub count is somewhat smaller đ đ
One year?! :O Well, congrats, and thank you for being my motivation during this pandemic!!
Congrats man
Nice video bro! Also a suggestion to the game is have those figures outside of the ring hype up the fight so when someone gets a good hit on the other one they start cheering, waving their hands and go crazy :D
your video editing is amazing
Hereâs to another year bud! Keep aspiring to inspire!
Your game looks awesome, keep up the good work! ;)
This is the only game i want to buy in steam. Keep it up, Pontypants! Prayers to you and viv!
I'm glad that you find your passion in game dev and having fun on youtube. Good Luck...
_Very good video brother_ đ€
Great vid âđ» must finish my next devlog as well đ
Love the content keep it up you inspired me to make my own videos.
Keep going man đȘ
Insane that it has been a year already! That's fantastic.
On your thing about burnout I couldn't agree more, whenever I feel burnout (like now x) ) I tend to step away and work on something else, you don't want to put bad/demotivated work into a project you're hoping to be your "big" project.
im supporting you till the end
Nicee, congrats man
I have just waited and waited for a new punch a bunch video to cone out
