    If the hosting supports Lightspeed server, then is this 8G firewall needed?
    Or only for Apache or Nginx based server?

    How do you edit it so that it doesn't block access to /wp-admin? I tried it on one site, then tried to use my MainWP admin access and got a 403. Then I tried /wp-admin myself, and got the same error.

      This is why I'm hesitant to add it because things like this can/will happen if you don't understand what each rule does. I guess you can always ask ChatGPT, so I suggest you ask your question there. 😂

    Thanks for the tutorial, great info! I wonder why tools like Solid Security and Wordfence don't have this feature included (as far as I'm aware)? It seems like another good layer of protection.

      It’s one of those things I recently became aware of and doing a little research shows it’s from a very well respected dev (Jeff Star).
      It’s been evolving for years and as mentioned in my other security video, it’s one cog in your security machine.

    great one Paul. Would this cause conflicts with Wordfence or other security plugins?

    • @WPTuts
      @WPTuts  Před 6 měsíci +3

      It shouldn’t do, no. I use it with Solid Security and everything seems to work fine.

    Do you know if the 8G code is comparable with "Plugin Vulnerabilities Firewall" which also seems interesting?

    Whats the performance hit that all these rules cause on htaccess?

    • @WPTuts
      @WPTuts  Před 6 měsíci +2

      Should be minimal. It’s a 17kb file and for the added security, I’d say it’s worth it.

  • @k4znIm
    @k4znIm Před 6 měsíci +2

    What about nginx servers?

    • @WPTuts
      @WPTuts  Před 6 měsíci +2

      My understanding is 7G Firewall has been modified to work with NGINX and I would imagine 8G will follow suit.

  • @TakuapaFriends

    Does the rules in some way maybe be bad for SEO? Does it block crawlers etc?

    • @WPTuts
      @WPTuts  Před 6 měsíci +3

      I can't see why. They are more focused on bad actors using query strings to tet for vulnerabilities. Normal strings/URLs should be fine.

  • @frankstone
    @frankstone Před 6 měsíci

    By installing in htaccess, the updates would not be automatic vs. using the plugin. Correct?

    • @WPTuts
      @WPTuts  Před 6 měsíci

      Yes, that is correct. But, I'm not sure how many updates would be brought out over time as this is more of a continuation of the previous versions (i.e. 6G Firewall, 7G Firewall, etc.)
