    -------------------------------------
Welcome to my review of the San Diego Comic-Con 2018 Event Exclusive Red Ranger [レッドレンジャー] from Saban's Power Rangers [パワーレンジャー].
Much has happened to the Power Rangers franchise in 2018. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the franchise, Bandai America was unceremoniously given the boot from the toy license and Saban Brands later sold the entire franchise off to Hasbro. Caught in the middle of this mess, among other things, were these two neat Figuarts that were previewed very early in the year. One was a Red Ranger Figuart featuring Jason's head and the other was a Green Ranger Figuart featuring Tommy's head. The developing story had a lot of us wondering...would Bandai be able to release the toys before their license was up in 2019?
Obviously, the answer was yes! SHFiguarts Red Ranger comes with several hands, his helmet, Power Sword, and three different versions of the Blade Blaster.
I'm incredibly impressed by Bandai's facial likenesses going back to the Michael Jackson SHFiguarts a few years back. They've since done many, many more and they're all quite good. Jason is no exception. He really does look like Austin St. John even if the hair is a little more Geki than Jason. Either way, I really enjoy this figure and it's great likeness.
The cons are numerous, but not really anything figure related. The only figure related con is that the handles are missing paint details on all of the weapons. The Thunder Slinger and Ranger Slinger are missing...but who really cares, right? The fact that this neat toy was so far limited to a single convention outing is the biggest crime. I think this becoming a regular release would have done very well. Also, the packaging is all kinds of weird. It's more dominantly Japanese than English...despite being a Bandai America release...so what gives?
All in all, if you have the opportunity to snag one I highly recommend it. Especially if you don't already have a Tyrannoranger/Red Ranger Figuart. The inclusion of the helment totally makes up for it. Keep an eye out for this one!

Welcome. Thanks for subbing! I usually don't answer music questions for obvious reasons, but if I were to maybe guess where this one came from I would check out this page: www.cclemon99.com/2017/03/the-cd-collection-mighty-morphin-power.html POSSIBLY the third CD...MAYBE the fourth track on it... :D

Why they not made new body figure ?

They would have to remake this figure from scratch rather than just sculpting the new heads. Plus...I genuinely hate the new body type. I think it killed Sentai Figuarts.

CCLemon99 Man, that’s be a shame if true. I admit, I was initially thrown off by the new body in Akaranger, but if it were to improve and continue the line, I’d have been ok with it. Plus, still confused by the choices made in this MMPR line, given the better knees in Gokaiger and shoulders in Hurrikenger.

This is a bad re release. I mean I am happy people get the chance to buy this figure after the 2013 release but overall a big let down. The sword and blade blasters lack the details from the 2013 release. And the Austin St. John/Jason sculpt is pretty bad in my opinion. Not worth the $100 price tag on the secondary market. Save your money and buy the 2013 version in my humble opinion.

      Yes...your opinion. Heh.

Outside of possibly saving money by skimping out on a few paint apps I believe they left out those details to differentiate between this re-release and the original therefore preserving it's secondary market value. Funko does it all the time with their re releases on retired figures. Now when it comes to the likeness when you have it in hand it looks exactly like Austin St. John. My only gripe like CC mentioned is that they went with Jason's season 1 haircut instead of the shorter cut in season 2.

Celestino Pineda Excellent point. Kinda like how they didn’t do a 1:1 replication of the boxart for the Doron Changer for Super Sentai Artisan. The toy may be identical outside of the extra button, but the box is the biggest giveaway. Well that and the fact that the medals aren’t growing funk on them yet. Heh.

Sergio Bolanos I think it’s worth it. It brings something new, and made it’s fun and accessible for those who want the unmasked heads (new to us fans/collectors) and makes it available to those who missed out. Now I see your point with the price, and the fact if you want what’s essentially classic retail prices you had to attend the ‘Con. Add to that, the missing paint, although I don’t see it. This is essentially the 2013 release with a few lost paint apps and accessories, and added unmasked head. It did what it set out to do: celebrate the 25th anniversary, cash in with fans and collectors, and test the waters for a possible continuation of the Super Sentai line....if not just Power Rangers in general.

First off, GTFO with your hairbrained religious conspiracy shit.
Second...I'm far from being a Power Rangers fan, but I have to give it props for the exposure that it has given Super Sentai and other genres of Tokusatsu by extension in parts of the West that weren't already exposed. If not for PR, Tokusatsu would without a doubt be far less known. If you have a problem with that, consider that Super Sentai was up for cancellation several times in the 90s. What do you think kept it going? Take a wild guess.... Dipshit...
