@@Tess_Minded I agree with you. My father would never have spoken to us that way as kids or adults. Even if we were upset or irritated. I had an argument with my dad recently because he doesn’t listen and as an Adult I am frustrated. I got the courage to speak out on it and he didn’t get angry, he listened he apologized and our relationship has improved 10 fold. Idc how old his son is, the relationship is broken and as a father he missed the opportunity to fix it before things got to that point. As a father it’s still his responsibility because his son only got to that point because of the sins of his father so to speak. I absolutely feel like as a first born, that young man is still suffering from abandonment issues. That isht can haunt you your whole life. He was likely treated like a prince and loved beyond measure until Kirk married and had other children. If you listen to the call he states several times how things changed when he got to be a certain age. I think that was when his dad married and his siblings were born. I’m not saying that as a grown man he’s not accountable for his own actions, but they both will need to stop blaming each other and actually listen with discernment and an open heart and mind to resolve their issues.

I treated my mom like this growing up, allowed my boyfriend to do it too, she rarely said much back, just prayed. One day she finally snapped, and she beat the brakes off me, still made my dad whoop me, then made me read my Bible at the table. I am grown with 2 teens now and she is my BEST FRIEND who has my absolute respect, heck I gave her some of my stimmy money too lol. @Kendal Hill, it’s serious because his son shared it with the world. He actually does well to talk to all those fans who have loved him and his music. Although they easily forgive, still...if he were to ignore it, it would send a different message. It should not be belabored, but I think addressing it is probably a good thing. Plus people will begin to pray for them, which can only help the situation.

Let me say...I have went through severe behavioral challenges with my daughter and I understand the struggle. Sometimes the nonsense catches you off guard and you will find yourself saying things that are not a part of your character. I learned that there were times I had to disconnect with my child because the disrespect was just too much. Much prayer for this family

This incident with Kirk and his son gave me the clarity I need to move to another space in my mind from my own estranged relationship with my daughter. I saw myself in this man, this parent. Doing all he can to love this person, support this person, understand this person. Only to realize no matter what you do, it’s never gonna be enough for them. Sometimes, you have to pull up, let go and let God. You have to. Or the vitriol they have in their spirit will destroy all that pure love and joy you have for your child. It only sounds, to me, like he is wanting his son to behave or fit in a certain way but sometimes our brains just don’t work like that and the people that care about us learn over time the best ways to support or interact. Divorce is a disruptive/traumatic experience. Becoming a blended family is also an experience and if these events were no addressed in a way that his son needed at the time then it could just build on itself. And now as a grown man, his son can work on finding a therapist and type of therapy that will work best to address his needs.
