* Written-By, Producer Andy C, Ant Miles
* The phrase "Noticed that I was in this long dark tunnel", sampled from an episode of the BBC documentary series Q.E.D., first shown in 1989, concerning out-of-body experiences.
* The phrase "Thirty-one seconds", from the Apollo 11 countdown to the Lunar Module landing on the moon in 1969 (as voiced by then-Kennedy Space Center Chief of Public Information Jack King). - Hudba
If anyone is interested, the ‘long dark tunnel’ sample is from a late 80s QED documentary about near death experiences. Super interesting!
And the title is a reference to Psalm 23, verse 4 www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%2023%3A4&version=KJV .
Ok nerd
Thank God for Nerds 🤓 😋
31 seconds from the Apollo launch
yeah my Ex wife did a Mad Bastard Remix club we had a rocker gasket m8
Yeeeeeesss!!! I found it. I heard this song waaay back in the mid 90s when the adults turned my sisters 8th birthday party into a rave at our house in France. We had french people walking in from across the fields to see what the hell was going on.
Brilliant
If you're in France I wouldn't be surprised to see French people or a long dark tunnel 😎
@@markruncieman4840 even those dark tunnels you will find them
Does French pussy smell of garlic? 🤔
Made me giggle
This song reminds me of the dreams i have. In some of my dreams it almost feels like reality.
one of the greatest tunes ever created in the drum n bass industry. hands down
2020 is a long dark tunnel!
It’s 2021 and we’re still in the tunnel.
Lool, bussin up, soz to tell u, dis year will b longer x
yeah, and it begun in 93
Wait for the 30s and 40s - dark ages of mankind.
Still in this long dark tunnel 😩
used to listen to this while grinding in everquest back in '99. now i'm an old man with a son in college. good god where does the time go
Still listening in 2024 XD
I’m 18 and get goosebumps every time I listen to this. So glad my dad introduced me to jungle as a kid...
Big up your dad. It's all about the next generation to keep this kind of music alive!! Big up yourself.
good boy
This song will always remind me of the bagleys birthday in 93 Green laser tunnel..dancing inside it....a great moment ♥️
same here bro, cheers dad
the cornerstone of any good parenting approach.
I can't believe Andy C was 16 when he made this track, in a time when sequence programs were tedious and took a lot of work to produce. Now any moron can make a bit of noise. Hype mixing and scratching it into his set at Helter Skelter with GQ and MC MC is still one of the best sets any DJ has ever mixed on three decks and vinyl.
Wonder if he used OctaMED to sequence?
I've heard he had a lot of help from Ant Miles.
@@warriorangel49 I'd always thought it was Lady Di : )
@@warriorangel49 no you weren't that was Barbara Lambert
@@warriorangel49 Either you're Barbara or you're not. No third party was involved. The sample was direct, i.e. analogue lift in waveform.
Im only 10yo and my 48 yo dad is an oldskool raver and this music is just the best
Dj Hype @ Helter-skelter scratching this up has to be one of the best intros in this era
I was a 14 YO kid when this track came out. I was glued to community radio every Friday night to hear the freshest beats, with no idea of any scene, or how these tracks would change the world of music & endure the test of time.
I love reading people’s warm memories & the feelings music brings them.
So was I (14)
you both have no clue how lucky you were (in my view) to experience 90's and early 2000's raves, czechteks, music, generally that era. im 94 and i feel so sad that i missed all the fun.
@@cechly listen to Skee Mask 🤘🏻 you're lucky
Andy C was 15 when he created it! Think about that for a bit....
No kidding, I was also 14. I was lucky to have caught it and taped it off my local college radio station in California.
Still gives me tingles 30 years later
Many Many years ago...this is the tune that made me fall in love with jungle beats!
Many years later...love it!
crazy that this is from 1993. way ahead of its time.
Literally one of the best pieces of Jungle ever made EVER !!!!
Also just one of the best pieces of muisc ever made
Andy c 16 years old what a tune what a legend!!
…it was written in the stars for Andy c to create this TITANIC of a ch00N!
And I hear a lot of people say Andy c is overrated obviously they are not educated
I was having a sesh about 20 years ago with my mates all out of our nuts with 3rd degree gurns with the telly on. From what I can remember, it was a disabled woman in a wheelchair, and she dropped the long dark tunnel line that they made as a sample and put it in the tune. We all jumped out our chairs gobsmacked. Ashtrays and beers went everywhere. Bong went over the lot. If only we had rewind and decent phones back then. Good times. 🎉😂❤
Takes me back .I'm 50 now an this is an anthem .only a matter of time b4 outdoor raves make a comeback......bring em on 🙂🙂
I’m roughly the same age as you.The outdoor raves did blow up again quite prominently around 2014-16.
I was fortunate to stumble upon a whole load of people arriving on the South Downs with sound systems & nominated myself as the parking marshal as ravers from all around arrived to get down.
This video brilliantly captures the morning after the night before. They managed to keep the party going for two nights, although police restricted vehicle access to the location leading into the second night although a lot of people arrived on foot.
Good Times, revisited!

DJ Solo - Darkage mixes beautifully into this :)
This is real jungle music , back in high school I remember some of the cool “electronic music” boys playing this particular track very often .
I had this on tape when i was a kid back in 1994. It was super rare and quite difficult to get a copy of without it being mixed. Bu for a 10 pack of Embassy No.1 i would copy it onto a fresh tape using my Dad's dual-casette recorder and sling them in the school playground! 😆
Way ahead of its time this tune and yet still it doesn’t age!!! Big up ANDY C
And ant miles
It was too ahead of its time, if you play the flip it sounds like proper Hardcore!! You see the gulf in sounds and shift in music.
26 YEARS LATER AND STILL A TOP KILLER TUNE.raved to this in the 90`s and still love it
Ya know it I've heard this ova 30 years still gets me woop woop
Banging!!!
This shit good also 31 seconds later
man what a time to be alive when this dropped stood in front of a wall of speakers truly feeling the bass in ya bones and ya soul damn I'm 43 this year but a few Mitsubishi's and the boys back for one night would be a killer...R.I.P the mans who not here now but this for you and junglists for life!!!!!!! 31 seconds
Some of those "bits and pieces" were brutal, £1.50 a pop too!
One of the most haunting tunes to ever be pressed

Big up everyone listening to this, still got it in us 😁
Omg...it's '94 all over again! 25 damn years!! Shit now I feel old
I started my raving days to these tunes!!!!! Warehouse raves all over London.....The Telepathy days!! I miss them 90s raves. I was very reluctant to leave the Jungle/ Drum and Bass days behind to make space for Garage. Will never forget those experiences ❤️
Good to hear.
First heard this at my first rave at 15, dreamscape 15v16 n.y.e at the sanctuary mind blown
Proper miss them , best days ever. Energy and Rocket 😍
same as all over London, strawberry sundaee club, bagleys and various other places - i miss those days tbh
@@lorrainedoherty4265 ah the rocket club nearly forgot it lol
This track just keeps aging like fine wine. Long live the 90's!
Who would agree with me when this is the jungle anthem. With a very very bright light it was more brilliant than the sun
This should be in the music hall of fame
Kick ass Drum n bass from back in the day
What a tune .... only in the UK you had this vibe that trumped any electro music worldwide by lightyears .
Peak to this in the mix in the 90's and it will change your life
Classic - Haven't heard this in years! This song is more brilliant than the Sun
Still blows me away this tune...46 and feeling it big time..✌🏻
44 this year & yeah, same... 👍🏻😎🙏🏻
Been listening to drum and bass for three years now. Any old school recommendations?
@@johnonyango3166 Yeah, I can think of one from the top of my head Shy FX & UK Apache - Original nuttah...
@@vanman757 thanks. Will check it out

Many speakers were blown by this nearly 30 years ago.
This touched my soul in 99...and still does in 2020
...and still does 2023
This is my all time favourite jungle tune, turn this up........🎵🎵🔊🔊🔊
Nice one thank you Andy C I have been listening to this tune ever since I was 12 am 38 now one of my favourites of legends ❤🎉❤
An absolutely banging track of the 90s I love my dark jungle. Oldschool all the way, no cheesy quavers here just hardcore original ravers. ONE LOVE ❤️❤️❤️
This was on radio 2 today..
Couldn't believe it
Enough bassline to shatter spines
One of the best tracks of all time.
I’m still trying to find speakers that can do it justice. Need it to wobble my eyes.
@@mjpleusch go to fabric mate this tune sounds banging in there

Now, THIS is an important piece of music!
the song that made me love drum and bass ❤
Remember the first time I heard this at World Dance, DJ Hype and MC GQ set, blew us all away with it has been one of my all time favourite tunes ever since. Good times.

So glad I have this on vinyl and so glad my dad brought me up listening to these awesome tracks!
Lucky I don’t even have a record player
How much you want for it? If it's original of course, no re-press.
Brought this tune when i was 23. Jesus where s it all gone !!!
THE 90S WILL GO DOWN IN HUMAN HISTORY AS THE BEST ! JUNGLIST FOREVER !
That Bassline!!!!
"felt that I was in this long dark tunnel." Brilliant sample, and timeless melody.
Only song that stops my 3 month old Daughter from crying.
'More brilliant than the sun' (appears in the sample) is the title of a well known book written by Kodwo Eshun that opened a whole world, the world of sonic fiction. In the book Eshun explores the intersection between sound and science fiction from an afrofuturist perspective. He chose the title because of this sample. German media and cultural scientist Holger Schulze explained this on DLF (german radio station) last year. 'Stunning how little fragments in music can become a whole world' Schulze said.
this is a tune 💚💜
The Bassline was and is a legend...
Game changer. Andy C and Ant Mills big up. Straight out of Dagenham. Big up the Essex massive. The flip side to this was proper hardcore.
Proper tunes old skool forever
Man this tune is giving me chills
Going through a shit time atm . But this has got me back on track. Let's be having you. Yes yes.
Keep your chin up frank respect to anyone having a rough time been there music is the key through ups and downs
Been there done that Geez, not going into details but music is the best cure. Helped me out of a black hole. Music is the answer! Time moves on.

Hang on in there bruv. The journey goes on.
I used to dance to this in my walker back in the day 🤣
At the time when there was a massive north south divide. This track made me appreciate jungle and all the labryinth and dreamscape tapes!
Очень завораживающий трек. Таинственная мелодия, а семплы вызывают тревогу.
Великолепно...

massive tune
First time I heard this (I would have been 14/15) I was doing bongs of hash with some older kids and this transported me to another world.
A timeless masterpiece
Just now finding this, and I must say it is a masterpiece
Excellent
It’s strange bc if I played this to someone nowadays, they would probably be bored or something-but when I first heard this back when it was fresh on a cassette mix at 12 years old it literally blew my mind & I’ve never forgotten it
If anyone who calls themselves a Junglist who hasn’t heard this and says anything derogatory against it wants a slap!
One of the most mind blowing tunes of all time, first time I heard swan-e 93, it I almost lost interest of the rest of the set, just wanted to hear that tune again. Then when I went to a rave shorty after and heard it on a few Barney Rubbles over a massive system, i could see tunnels of colour going across the whole rave. Spiritual moment man ✌🏻
@@yamyite Mate let me tell you something, I’ve got the day off & have had a few so ended up searching this song again.
I then see my comment & that you responded less than 24hrs ago.
Kinda spiritual tbh.
I hope you have a blessed day & remember that Jungle will never die.
I'm only 21 and yet this stuff is my jam. OLDSKOOL FOREVER
i’m mind blown as a 16 year old kid, this song makes me feel happy on the inside, but at the same time very sad, knowing that music like this won’t be mentioned in the next decade by newer generations
I'm an young edm idiot thats been digging for good dance music and this sounds amazing tbh
All time classic Jungle Anthem
Just think Andy C wasn't even in his twenties when he put this out , a true pioneer of the music of mine and many other people's best years , one love ... ecstasy... real ecstasy
This song brings memories I never lived...
I love these dark Jungle songs with the spooky melodies.
the best track, the best memories from 90's about this track
Considering it was pressed in 1993 it kept getting played standardly at all the big Jungle night for years and years!!
Yes finally found this ..rocking it in 2022 and beyond.
Fantastic darkside breakbeat classic from 1993, the year of darkside hardcore. One of the best tunes ever!
This tune will never get old! Tasco warehouse days!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Could listen on loop forever
Classic! Still dancing to this 👌🙌
This is an absolute classic still love it and I’m 46
They don’t make ‘em like they used to. Original. Melodic. Classy.
one of the greatest d+b tunes of the 90's...
I've just bought this on vinyl with truly one on the other side for £15 in absolute mint confotuon. What melt would sell this absolutely timeless masterpiece
ABSOLUTE STEAL!!
Totally agree ..shit hot find! Gotta be mad ass to thro that away..

And I was going to let my copy go for a tenna.......
How much is it worth...
To me it's the soundtrack to the 90's.
To my son it's the soundtrack to Rise of the footsoldier.
Main thing is he loves it
💚✌🏻
Anyone here after reading festival?
Was so excited to see Andy and let me tell you it was fucking brilliant
discovered this when i was 10 years old because i had a jungle intensive research phase. something about it changed me probably more than the rhythm of the music itself. how do you write and sequence a track that you could absolutely drop in any set no matter the energy, but that sounds haunted by alien ghosts? inconceivable.
seriously cant beat jungle, but to answer your question...........probably with extreme difficulty. These producers are gods compared to today's copy cats
Samples.
The intro gives me goosebumps. Proper classic
2020 baby!!! Still going!! Won't stop, wont quit!!!
Yass Dj hype favourite from back in the day 93/94 helter-skelter!
Oh yes. Remember this well. Tuuuune
I remember listening to this all the time as a kid. My mum downloaded on my iPod and I had no idea what the song was then, I just liked it.
