👁 About this video : Today I add a turbo inlet pipe to the A90 MK5 Toyota Supra! I installed the MST cold air intake on my Toyota Supra when I first bought the car. But nobody had an updated part to replace the stock plastic portion of the intake. MST now offers this metal pipe to connect the turbo to the intake and it looks great! You can hear a bit more of the turbo sounds now with this pipe! The stock plastic one has baffles in it to keep the turbo sounds quiet. But now we have no restriction for the turbo and the Supra sounds even more awesome!

Purely for the sound. Would you recommend the turbo inlet upgrade? Does it actually make a difference? Or would you say it might be a placebo effect?
In a small level it is beneficial. It might not really give you any more power, but it still takes out just that much more restrictions so the airflow is smoother.
sounds great! when you clean the air filter, do you need to re oil it or is it a dry element type?
Yeah I clean it with the K&N cleaner kit and then spray a light mist of oil on it. Works great!

No. You're really not going to feel a difference. On a small level this helps overall. But it really is to have a more robust part there instead of cheap plastic, and the sound is a bit better

@@NismoSupra no I’m leaving the heat shield on. I’m sure it’s be louder! But the filter is right above the turbo. That’ll be a lot of hot air to breath in!
Any chance you would be willing to part with (sell) the intake portion that you took off for this video. I just purchased a new intake for my 2020 supra and it requires this part (got rid of mine when I upgraded first to FTP intake pipe and then an aFe intake, now trying AWE). Thanks and love the supra videos. Your video on AWE exhaust is the reason I got the AWE exhaust and now want to try their intake.
Oh dang man. Not looking to sell it to be honest. When the time comes to sell the car, I'll be putting it back to stock
Do you need any tune by installing that mst intake plus charge pipe? And do you have exhaust and down pipe installed? And no engine lights?
No tuning required for the intake or charge pipe. The sensors are just pressure sensors. So bigger diameter doesn't effect anything. In this video I did have a full exhaust and tune. The tune takes away any CEL for the cats because it get turned off
Do you happen to know the torque value for bolts on the engine bay strut braces?
Not off the top of my head. But when I did strut braces. I just did them tight by hand. Maybe 30lbs if that

I've been looking for a site that sells the other part of this MST intake system. Their website doesn't have it listed yet. I've been waiting forever for this piece to come out.

Yeah they don't have the link yet. But it now comes with this piece as an option. Can always message them on IG. Thats where I saw it posted and how I ordered it.

I recently installed the mst v2 intake and it seems that my Supra lost power. Would you happen to have any idea how or why?
Weird. It shouldn't make any difference. The ECU on this car is setup to make the same power regardless of bolt on parts. Bolt ons don't effect power on a Supra with no tune. Once tuned it will make more HP then a stock intake tho

I have a huge problem if anyone can help. In trying to unsnap that hose connected to the inlet, the whole wire snapped right off. There’s also another connect I can’t remove for the life of me.
The metal snap rings? Use a flat head and needle nose pliers to help
I just one thanks to you and I arrived today. I had the Injen but it’s weird. If I press the gas 1/3 of the way I hear the whistle but if I gas it more it does not sound at all. Do you have this problem with this MST?
Yeah that's how most turbo cars sound. I think partial throttle the waste gate is open. So you're hearing that. Then under full throttle it's closed

I just installed this intake on my 22 Z4 M40i, but I’m getting an obnoxiously high pitched noise. Kind of like wind shrill. Any idea what it might be?
Hmm, not too sure. You should just hear normal intake sounds. Is everything connected properly?
Yup. I actually ended up reinstalling the stock intake and still getting the noise. My guess is I have an air leak somewhere. I triple checked to make sure everything is connect properly but no luck.
I can't believe that the toyota airbox is that bad because the MST intake on the G20 only yields about 5~ish HP in dyno tests and loses a pound or two of torque.
So when are they releasing this could not find it on website 😬

Never driven a 2JZ. But from what we’re seeing. The B58 is a much more modern engine. Better efficiency. And can make just as much power, if not more. Then the 2JZ with minimal mods and tuning. So seems like the B58 is a fantastic modern version!

And almost all of them have never driven one of these. I love the BMW intervention. Toyota infotainment is so outdated and ugly looking. BMW is much better. And BMW makes the best inline 6 engines. Toyota wouldnt have made one this performance oriented.

Does it go with the arma intake?
As shown in the video this is for the MST intake. I ended up doing the ArmaSpeed intake. That kit replaces the entire stock pipe anyways.
I ordered the HKS Intake, can the turbo inlet from MST fit with it?

Get power gains out of this?
Nope. The Supra needs tuning to ad power anyways. Bolt ons don't do anything with the way the ECU is programed. But this just makes the intake a tad more efficient and breath easier. So just another part to make the car run just that much better. You won't notice the actual performance change. But youll hear it better and get rid of the cheap plastic

This Motorsport place told me it doesn’t fit. I’m just going to buy the whole system. I never comment on CZcams but as following my rare posts comes much appreciation to you kind sir for your great advice.
The Injen I have is really strange. If anyone has a fix or advice I’d appreciate it. The sound is decent but it only comes on when I gas about 1/3 in. If I press it further the natural turbo sound takes over and it’s pretty non-existent. Does this happen to the MST too? I would think much less due to that inlet being replaced for a better one plus the stock one has noise cancelation features.

@@BrosFOURRSpeed cool. Hey I know you know about modifying cars. So I have a 2019 turbo charged hatchback civic muffler delete, vibrant resonator. I have from the resonator piping 2.5 inch to the tips. It's a y pipe. Then I have a high flow engine air filter k&n. It's daily at the moment. What else do you think would make it more full of performance.....

MST said youll be able to order it all as one kit for the intake, or without it. They don't have this pipe alone listed yet tho

I call BS on the intake adding HP with the tune. Stock air box is best for this motor. Aftermarke Intakes in B58 only for sound..razzle dazzle

Here are my two videos showing this. THe second video watch at 5:00
With tuning the stock air box is limited towards 5k rpm. With the new intake my car makes 30 more WHP then the stock box car. When I tuned my car, the shop had an identical spec Supra with same mods. However they had a stock intake and I had this. My car made 30 more WHP at redline. After 5k you can watch the stock box car HP curve angle down. My can HP curve stays flat. Literally I have the video proof to show it. Without a tune the intake doesnt ad anything. But once tuned you get more power out of the car
