Danaerys had both dreams and dragons herself. As does Jon (in the books at least, I don't remember his clearly prophetic dreams being as much of a thing in the show), and going off what we've been told in the shows Aegon the Conqueror as well. Seems to have been fairly common to wind up with both talents. Indeed, with the great number of Targaryens who also went mad, I can't help but wonder if they too received Dragon Dreams but failed to process them as anything other than an increasingly destructive desire for Fire and Blood.

I'm quite sure, it was Deamon's instruction. When the assassins asked what they should do if they did not find Aemond, the show cut to another scene without an answer to this question. But this answer came in the conversation between the two assassins, that it should be a son for a son (Quote: "A son for a son he said"). Killing the child was therefore Deamon's alternative.
Helena had the vision with the rats (the maid remembered Helena's warning when the assassin stood in front of her). I think she had already seen the death of her son and wanted to change the future. That's why she pointed directly to her son, hoping the killers wouldn't believe her. In her vision, she may have pointed to her daughter and the killers didn't believe her and killed her son. Now she knows that the future is fixed and cannot be changed.
Another possibility would be that she immediately pointed to the son so that she wouldn't lose both children. If the killers had killed the daughter, her son would have died on the throne as king at the latest, if not earlier in the fight for it. A throne that her son may not have wanted anyway. At least that's what she told her husband. So she pointed to her son so that at least she wouldn't lose her daughter, because in this world women are less at risk.
By the way, there is still at least one male heir to the throne of Aegon. In case it was forgotten, Aegon fathered at least one son in the children fighting pits. We saw a son of his there last season. And I think when the time comes, the White Worm will intervene, because she knew what was going on, as did the twins and I think Aemond too (not sure).
By the way, there is still at least one male heir to the throne of Aegon. In case it was forgotten, Aegon fathered at least one son in the children fighting pits. We saw a son of his there last season. And I think when the time comes, the gray worm will intervene, because she knew what was going on, as did the twins and I think Aemond too (not sure).
Kristen Cole could also get into trouble, because according to Otto's order he should go to his post. The question is where this post was. If he should be at Helena's door, Cole has a huge problem, because he was in Alisant instead.

To make it clear, *we don't know* if it's Daemon's instruction.
The show left it ambiguous *on purpose* to spark discussions like this one. 🙂

      @@mori1bund No, it was clear.
In the conversation between Deamon and the assassins, the phrase "a son for a son" was not mentioned. When the question came up what should happen if they don't find Aemond, they went into the next scene without an answer. In the bedroom with the knife at Helena's throat, one assassin said to the other: "HE SAID a son for a son".
Listening and thinking along helps. It doesn't get any clearer than that. The only reason the writer didn't let Deamon say his order himself at that moment was to keep up the shock factor and surprise until the moment came.

The series is based on 5 ou 6 chapters of the book Fire & Blood, which is a maester's narrative of the history of House Targaryen. Given that it is a historic book inside the narrative, it is ridden with inconsistencies, fallacies and biases, which makes it a fairly interesting read because you never know what's true and what's fiction (in the inner story).
The chapters that deals with the Dance of the Dragons (the Targaryen civil war that series depicts, although the maester tries to change the popular name given to the event, which I shall not say what it is because spoilers) have on some events 3 different versions given by 3 different sources gathered by the narrator, while others where there are multiple witnesses that tells the same story only one version is given.
In the book, the story tells a different (and crueler) version of what happens in the final scene of this episode: Blood and Cheese gets two of three children of Aegon II, the boys Jaehaerys (the heir to the throne) and his younger brother Maelor, and makes Helaena choose which one to kill. She chooses Maelor, but the duo not only kills Jaehaerys, they tell to Maelor that her mother chose him to die. As you can imagine, things will not go well from here on but you (and us) will need to wait the next episodes to discover that.

    SPOILERS (kind of) :
In the books Blood&Cheese is much different.
First off, Aemond is never mentioned to be the target, and Rhaenyra is not the one to incite the mission. Daemon sends Rhaenyra a letter from Harrenhal (in the books he is already there) that says-
“An eye for an eye, a son for a son. Lucerys shall be avenged”.
B&C sneak into the Tower of the Hand, which is not guarded as heavily as Maegor’s Holdfast, where Aemond was, and they head for Alicent’s chambers, who is getting ready for bed (Criston and her are not a thing in the book). Helaena and her three children (Jaehaerys, Jaehaera, and Maelor, who was not present in the show version) visit Alicent’s chambers each night before bed, and were just about to visit. When they get there, they find Alicent tied to the bed and her bedmaid strangled. Blood bars the door and Cheese takes Maelor and tells Helaena to choose which son of hers will die. Helaena pleads that they kill her instead but they refuse, siting- “An eye for an eye, a son for a son. A wife is not a son.”
Cheese tells her that if she does not choose then Blood will grape her daughter and they will kill everyone in the room. Eventually, Helaena chooses Maelor, her younger son. Maybe it was because she thought he would be too young to understand , or perhaps it was because the elder boy, Jaehaerys, was Aegon’s first born and heir. Cheese holds Maelor up and whispers to him-
“You hear that, little one, your momma wants you dead”.
In one clean motion, Blood strikes of the older boys-Jaehaerys’s-head, and the two take off with it. When the guards finally burst through the door, they find Helaena grasping her son’s headless body to her, mad with grief.
So yeah, Blood&Cheese is much more tame in the show.

5:28 I thought it was bad that Jace came home straight away, I wanted to see more scenes of Jace in the north. The books have several moments of Jace in the north, but apparently the writers chose not to include them, it's a real shame.
    Rhaenys' Scene with Daemon
Eva best who plays the character Rhaenys I talk about her scene with Daemon. "When we did that in the reading and it seemed like a kind of trump card, like whoever has more power" (...) so, what he throws at her in that scene entirely reflects him and his own vulnerability and a desperate need to blame someone"
"Understanding that thing about being an outsider. Those who have been mistreated, those who haven't gotten the position they were raised in or deserve, I feel like there's a deep understanding that Rhaenyra resonates with a lot."
As Rhaenyra was absent for days, it was probably the daemon who received Alicent's letters. I imagine he burned all of Alicent's letters. (I would do the same thing)
I'm sure he did this the first moment he read it
"Friend, how are you? How are you?🥰
I'm sorry for your son😰🤧 You know how it is, accidents happen🤷‍♀️ but move forward and lift your head so the crown (a princess's, not a Queen's) doesn't fall off, right lol I miss you already." (bro when Alicent speaks The fact that I sent the letters made me angry because, bro, it's only the scriptwriters who can do this shit, I hope Daemon burned all the fake letters.
I wanted to talk about Rhaenyra in the book in relation to how Lucerys' death happened. How sad Vhagar must have been, the dragon who ended her boy's life. Riding Visenya,a woman she clearly admired and then her beloved Laena. Rhaenyra clearly admired the conqueror. She wore her hair normally tied in a long braid, like her ancestor and even named her daughter after her, who unfortunately did not survive. Besides, in the book the relationship between Laena and Rhaenyra was different. They flew together, visited each other and she was with Laena in her final moments. They promised their children: Jace to Baela and Luke to Rhaena, when the boys were four and three and the girls two. How sad it must have been to think that the dragon that once belonged to a woman she so admired and was inspired by and then to such a dear friend was the very one who killed her son.
Daemon was Anxious throughout the episode, lashing out at everyone he talked to because he was worried about Rhaenyra. He probably hadn't slept for days, not knowing if she was safe. Then she came back and he did his best to comfort her. (The funny thing is that Dameon was mad at everyone and blamed everyone, but when Rhaenyra arrived he was calm with her presence)
They [Daemon and Rhaenyra] have a connection that no one else on the show shares, they are almost the same person, in different bodies. Sarah Hess.
Matt Smith: “[Blood&Cheese] It's love, grief and vengeance. Daemon feels it's impossible not to exact that feeling of revenge when it's in him... [Jaehaerys' death] isn't his mistake ultimately, but he does put it in motion.”
19:38 Jace's scene with Rhaenyra was very beautiful. Jace placing the crown in front of the mourning is Rhaenyra putting the pain aside to comfort. He trying to hold back to say what he managed and clinging to her afterwards. This scene is important to show that Rhaenyra raised her children in a very loving way. On the other hand, we have a mother (Alicent) who is extremely negligent and neglectful and on the other, Nyra is simply being loving towards all of her children.
Seriously, they put the scene of Alicent lighting the candle for Lucerys, seriously, scriptwriters, this woman doesn't care about Rhaenyra's children, she calls hers bastards and tried to take a child's eye out and then put this ridiculous scene of hers, She called the jace and luke from savages... said he would rather die than let Helaena marry jace... spent 10 years questioning the legitimacy of the Children and putting a target on their and Rhaenyra's foreheads... but yes he does everything I felt the parallel of the wake with Alicent's fake, They are forcing too much, Alicent clearly never liked Rhaenyra's children but is called empathetic for lighting a candle at Lucerys' death... however, Rhaenyra who never had anything against Is Helaena called fake for showing empathy towards another innocent mother? Sometimes it's difficult to understand people, but she's the victim, folks.. she started the war by accident.. she sent Larys to kill Mysaria's informants by accident.. she spent 10 years preparing Aegon to be king by accident. .she questioned the legitimacy of luke/ep8 without meaning to.. she is just the victim of the patriarchy, incredible how everything they do the producers want to make accidental. "Ah, they didn't want to usurp the throne", "Aemond didn't want to kill the boy", damn what a bummer.
20:29 They didn't have Lucerys' body for the funeral so to represent him throughout his life, Jace wore his newborn clothes, Joffrey his toy as a child, Rhaenyra her clothes as an adult.

Angela, you're doing amazing with the names - you have no need to beat yourself up over it!
Because you said you wouldn't read the books, and the event has occurred - Cheese is all that remains in the histories of the person's name/description jointly responsible for the killing of wee Prince Jaehaerys (the other is remembered as Blood). Their Mom is Halaena, sister wife to Aegon II. HUGELY surprisingly the show has spared us the version given in the history. In that, Halaena is forced to choose which child, and the two kill the other, taunting the spared child by jeering that their mother wanted them dead. I'm grateful that the visual of Prince Jaehaerys' murder was deemed too much - even for this show - instead remaining with Halaena as she flees.
Aegon II is becoming far more interesting already. Taking Jaehaerys into the Council meeting is how most ruling Lords introduced their heirs to the process of ruling - something Viserys II didn't do for him, and only barely did for Rhaenyra. Showing a level of duty or care I really didn't expect from him.
    Looking forward to next week!

I can not recall the name of the visionary queen, bride of the king. I will not throw the name that comes to my mind, because it is of another story, apart from this, and I do not wish to muddy the waters for you. (Although if I said it, I am sure you would understand why that name comes to mind) She feared the rats. And it was the rat catcher that led the killer to take her child's head. [Edit: Since I just watched the next episode, Helaena is the name]
It did trouble me that the queen, had to traverse so much distance without access to a guard, to make her way to her mother-in-law (dowager queen?)'s chambers, in a time of war. Imagine if the rat catcher had been employed to bring a dozen killers in? The war would be next to over, as the dowager queen, queen, king and the heirs except maybe Aemond, would be dead.

A lot of people who read the Book Fire and Blood don't like what they did with Cheese and Blood because they changed things. I'm going to give my opinion on the whole episode, so I liked the episode but I expected more from the episode, about the blood and cheese I thought it was cool but it could be much better.
I'm going to talk now about what really happened in the Book Fire and Blood.
Blood and Cheese is one of the darkest moments of the civil war between the Targaryens, known as the Dance of the Dragons.
After receiving information about Luke's death at the hands of Aemond, the Black Council met at Dragonstone and received a raven from Prince Daemon, who at that time was in Harrenhal.
"An eye for an eye, a son for a son," wrote Prince Daemon."Lucerys will be avenged."
Thus begins one of the bloodiest chapters of Dance.
"Let it not be forgotten: in his youth, Daemon Targaryen was the Prince of the City, his face and his laughs were familiar to all the pickpockets, whores and gamblers of Flea Bottom. The prince still had friends in the lowest reaches of King's Landing and followers among the gold cloaks. Unbeknownst to King Aegon, the Hand, or the Dowager Queen, he also had allies at court, even on the green council... And another intermediary, a special friend whom he trusted completely, who knew the taverns and rat pits that festered in the shadows of the Red Keep, as Daemon himself had known, and moved with ease in the shadows of the city. He sought out this pale stranger then, by secret means, to enact terrible revenge."
Her intermediary, as it turns out later, was (Mysaria) and she is the one who recruits Blood and Cheese, in King's Landing.
Blood is described as brutish and deadly, and he had been a sergeant among the Gold Cloaks (City Guard), but was permanently dismissed for beating a prostitute to death during a drunken binge.
Cheese, in turn, was the rat exterminator of the Red Keep and therefore knew all the entrances and exits of the Castle and he is the one who takes Blood to the interior of the castle, without them being seen by anyone.
“Cheese knew the Red Fortress better than the shape of his own dick,” says Cogumelo. The hidden doors and secret tunnels Maegor the Cruel had constructed were as familiar to the exterminator as they were to the rats he hunted. Using a forgotten passage, Cheese took Blood to the heart of the castle, without being seen by any guards. Some say that the prey was the king himself, but Aegon was accompanied by the Kingsguard wherever he went, and not even Cheese knew of an entrance or exit from Maegor's Fortress other than the drawbridge that passed over the dry moat and its formidable iron spikes.
The Tower of the Hand was less dry. The two men climbed the walls, avoiding the spearmen stationed at the tower doors. Ser Otto's quarters were of no interest to them. They went directly to his daughter's quarters, one floor below. Queen Alicent had come to live there after the death of King Viserys, when her son Aegon moved to Maegor's Keep with his queen. After they entered, Cheese tied and gagged the widowed queen while Blood strangled her chambermaid. Then they sat down to wait, as they knew that it was Queen Helaena's custom to take her children to see their grandmother every night before they went to sleep.
Oblivious to the danger, the queen appeared as dusk spread across the castle, accompanied by her three children. Jaehaerys and Jaehaera were six years old and Maelor was two. When they entered the chambers, Helaena was holding his little hand and calling her mother's name. Blood blocked the door and killed the queen's guards while Cheese appeared to get Maelor.
-If they scream, everyone will die - Sangue warned His Grace.
Queen Helaena kept her cool, they say.
-Who are you? -he asked the two.
-Debt collectors -said Cheese. -An eye for an eye, a son for a son.
We just want one to settle the score. We will not harm
rest of you, not by a hair's breadth. What does Your Grace want?
    lose?
When she understood what he meant, Queen Helaena pleaded
for men to kill her in the place of one of her children.
-A wife is not a son, said Blood. -It has to be one
    boy.
Cheese warned the queen to choose quickly, before Blood was left
I'm tired of the little girl.
-Choose - he said -, otherwise we will kill everyone.
On her knees, crying, Helaena chose the youngest, Maelor. Perhaps she had thought the boy was too young to understand,or perhaps it was because the oldest boy, Jaehaerys, was the firstborn and heir of King Aegon, next in line of succession to the Iron Throne.
-Are you listening, little boy? -Cheese whispered to Maelor. -Your mom wants you dead. He gave Blood a smile, and the hulking swordsman killed Prince Jaehaerys, taking the boy's head off with a single blow. The queen began to scream.
Strangely enough, the rat exterminator and the butcher were true to their word. They did no harm to Queen Helaena or her surviving children, but they fled with the prince's head in their hands. A scream sounded, but Queijo knew the secret passages that the guards did not, and the killers fled. Two days later, Blood was captured at the Gate of the Gods trying to leave King's Landing with Prince Jaehaerys' head in one of his saddlebags. Under torture, he confessed that he was taking the head to Harrenhal, to collect his reward from Prince Daemon. He too
gave a description of the prostitute he claimed had hired them: an older woman, foreign in her accent, with a cape and hood, very pale. The other prostitutes called her Myseria.
After thirteen days of torment, Blood was finally able to die. Queen Alicent ordered Larys Clubfoot to learn his name so he could bathe in the blood of his wife and children, but our sources do not say whether this happened. Ser Luthor Largent and his golden cloaks searched the Street of Silk from top to bottom and investigated and stripped every prostitute in King's Landing, but found no sign of either Cheese or White Worm. In his grief and fury, King Aegon Il ordered all of the city's rat exterminators to be captured and hanged, and this was done. (Ser Otto Hightower took a hundred cats to the Red Keep to take their place.)
Although Blood and Cheese spared her life, Queen Helaena didn't exactly survive the fateful twilight. Afterwards, she did not want to eat, bathe or leave her chambers, and could not bear to look at her son Maelor, knowing that she had chosen him to die. The king had no recourse other than to take the boy from her and give him to the their mother, the Dowager Queen Alicent, to be raised as her own. Aegon and his wife began to sleep separately, and Queen Helaena sank deeper and deeper into madness, while the king raged, drank and raged."
So I hate all the green people because they are all bad, the only person in the family who is good is Helaena, the rest are all rotten, poor people, he lost his son so she goes after his mother to ask for help and she ends up taking the mother having sex with her lover, what a horrible thing, I feel very sorry for Helena, she does suffer in this green family, but Aegon, Aemond, Alicent do not suffer, they are suffering, they are suffering and because the series wants to portray them as poor things, Helaena does not have love from no one in her family, they all mistreat her, Because Helena doesn't like Alicent or her brothers, you can tell by just watching all her scenes with her family, she never lets Alicent touch her.

@@funnylilgalreacts you’re probably right. That would be repetitive and it’s good to see different layers to these characters.

@blondymonk1535 I know but you have to remember the book Fire And Blood is very unreliable that's why George R R Martin said the events of the series is actually what happened

I'm a mixture of team Green and Black. Alicent is my favorite but I also love Rhaenyra. Criston Cole I like but I can't stand Daemon. I feel he is one of the worst humans on earth for all the terrible things he's done. Remember he murdered his wife, and having those goons kill that little boy if Aemond wasnt found. Yea he's just a very bad person. I dont think Rhaenyra or Alicent would have ever even thought of doing that.

This premier did EVERYTHING it needed to without a wasted moment. The way Cheese kept popping up in the background was a deft touch, showing how arrogant the Greens are about their safety in the Red Keep. Why would the Queen Helena not have guards? Was it b/c Larrys Strong had rounded up so many castle staff...and if he replaced the people who left with others of his choosing..why were they incompetent enough to leave the Queen unguarded?
    Speculation/ l spoiler-y:

I firmly believe Larrys is a Greenseer-that he can use rats or other small animals to spy and observe everyone in the castle. If this is true _why didn't he raise the alarm when Blood & Cheese infltraited?_ 1 sure way to power is to destabilize the royal family, remove the heir, cause paranoia & infighting and plant the seeds for a rift between the feckless monarch and his most competent advisor ...while positioning himself as a capable ally to both sides. This is the kind of evil ba$tard I love to hate.
