Blood and Cheese asked Daemon "what do we do if we can't find Aemond?", and Daemon just smiled before they revealed his answer. It's implied that he said if they couldnt get their primary target, then they take Aegons heir, so they get a "son for a son". They didn't screw up the orders, they just had to resort to Plan B.
Ahhh! Diabolical Daemon… I don’t think it was smart…
Also, this was Daemons plan, yes Raynera said she wanted Aemond but she certainly didn't order for this, Deamon did this on his own and in turn has screwed Raynera because the Greens are going to assume she ordered this and now things have just got from bad to worse as Aegon is going to be in a rampage now!@@MugShotzReacts

Alyrie Florent was alicent’s mother who died shortly before the events of s1 happened. So she is mourning for her mother, viserys, and luke.
Scorpions have existed since Aegon's Conquest. It's actually how Meraxes(and Rhaenys) died in Dorne. Rhaenys is one of Aegon's sister wives.
Makes sense! They just didn’t need them for a while after all of this dancing…
You can see Meraxes's skull when Rhaenrya returns to Dragonstone.

They probably told the White Worm to tone down her accent like 30% lol. I feel like a lot of people said it was really heavy last time.
It’s a noticeably lighter accent!
Lets not forget that she has been in Kings Landing for a long time now (a couple decades), and her homeland accent would have softened over the years.

What a lovely surprise! Hi Stefani, lovely to meet you Mesel.
There are a lot of comments about 'in the book' and what everyone missed mentioning is that the book Fire & Blood is written to be a combination of source documents from others - in MOST cases, there aren't only multiple sources, but sources that contradict each other. We the readers and they the GoT batch of characters, only know for sure what the provable events are. In this episode, all we know for certain is that after Luke was killed over The Gullet by Aemond and Vhagar, two people, a guard and a ratcatcher (only ever remembered in history by the names Blood and Cheese) infiltrated the Red Keep and killed Prince Jaehaerys. Everything else is speculation. GRRM is VERY much a part of the show writing process - as every alteration of the lore must go through him. He's said in multiple interviews that the reason there's no definitive series of events in Fire & Blood is that HE doesn't really know how an event came to pass, only that 'something' triggered an action that led to a moment he needed in history.
There's loads more to unpack in the episode - and I'm sure when you edited, you spotted some of them. The couple of glimpses of Cheese in the background earlier in the episode - pointing out how freely he could move around the castle. The fact that Aegon has no trouble at all with the Iron Throne cutting him, even being comfortable enough to sprawl drunkenly on it. Alicent's strangely repetitive scrubbing in the bath, is she just anxious, or does she feel unable to get clean? Aegon attempting to do a better job of teaching his son something of ruling. Rhaenys being unafraid of defying Daemon, but Mysaria flinching when he even approaches.
Emma D'Arcy rocked my world in this episode, just four words and yet she conveyed a torrent of emotion. She brought me to tears twice.

Alyria Florent is Alicents mother. Mysaria is the white worm.
The Scorpions existed in Dorne, they were used to fight Aegon's dragons during his conquest and they demostrated a dragon could be killed. Its one of the reasons Dorne stayed unconquered.
Qyburn mentioned Dorne when he first showed Cersei the one he had built.
Two things can be true. Rhaenyra wants revenge but taking out Aemond removes Vhagar from the Green cause.
Removing the little prince is less useful 😔

@@MugShotzReacts It has little if any positive effect, and can only severely escalate the anger and hatred. After the whole "son for a son" scenario (Luke and Jaherys), both sides will be in "take no prisoners" mode.
If you rewatch season 1, you'll see many rats in the red keep. But you don't see any in GoT. You see cats like the ones Arya was chasing and Ser Ponce.

So Cregan Stark the guy with Ice over his shoulder at the wall, he’s Lord of Winterfell and Warden of the North. During the winter in HOTD days Stark’s brought their men to the wall to watch during winter. Which is why he’s there covered in Stark emblems
In the scene where Syrax and Rheanyra find Luke and Arrax’s body not only is Rheanyra grieving but Arrax is Syrax’s son as well.
Both mothers are grieving together there

Lady Arryn wasn’t asking for a dragon to keep for the Vale, she was asking for someone with their dragon to come keep the Vale safe from dragon attacks.
During Aegon’s conquest one of Aegon’s sister wives flew to The Vale and landed in the Eryie bringing the Vale into the fold without bloodshed. To avoid the Vale being undefended they want a dragon to protect it, not to keep cause the Targaryens wouldn’t accept that

A scorpion killed Meraxes and Rhaenys in Dorne during Aegon's Conquest. They've been around for some time. Also, Lady Mysaria, the White Worm, is from Lys.

Scorpions existed before Game Of Thrones. One shot down Aegon The Conqueror’s sister wife Rhaenys in Dorne. I always thought of it as Qyburn knew they existed from his time at The Citadel and went looking beneath The Red Keep for them. Then made more. Vhagar is a female dragon by the way. Alerie Florenz is Alicent’s mother. Also - Alyn is a Welsh name in the real world 😊 my cousin is named Alyn haha
Buenas Noches Guapa Pareja, The King in the North did not kneel because his town feared being burned, nor was Aegon interested in killing Northerners, so Aegon told him the prophecy, which is what Cregan and Jacaeris imply with their words
In the books Blood&Cheese is much different.
First off, Aemond is never mentioned to be the target, and Rhaenyra is not the one to incite the mission. Daemon sends Rhaenyra a letter from Harrenhal (in the books he is already there) that says-
“An eye for an eye, a son for a son. Lucerys will be avenged”.
B&C sneak into the Tower of the Hand, which is not guarded as heavily as Maegor’s Holdfast-where Aemond was-and they head for Alicent’s chambers, who was getting ready for bed (Criston and her are not a thing in the book). Helaena and her three children (Jaehaerys, Jaehaera, and Maelor, who was not present in the show version) were on the way for their nightly visit to Alicent. When they get there, they find Alicent tied to the bed and her bedmaid strangled. Blood bars the door and Cheese takes Maelor and tells Helaena to choose which son of hers will die. Helaena pleads that they kill her instead but they refuse, siting- “An eye for an eye, a son for a son. A wife is not a son.”
Cheese tells her that if she does not choose then Blood will grape her daughter and they will kill everyone in the room. Eventually, Helaena chooses Maelor, her younger son. Maybe it was because she thought he would be too young to understand , or perhaps it was because the elder boy, Jaehaerys, was Aegon’s first born and heir. Cheese holds Maelor up and whispers to him-
“You hear that, little one, your momma wants you dead”.
Then, in one clean motion, Blood strikes of the older boys-Jaehaerys’s-head, and the two take off with it. When the guards finally burst through the door, they find Helaena grasping her son’s headless body to her, mad with grief.
So yeah, Blood&Cheese is much more tame in the show.

Another mistake from the end of GoT. Dany's dragons shouldn't have been able to cross the Wall.

Daemon said a son for a son, hence the name of the episode.
Blood and Cheese is way more traumatic in the book, they forced Halaena to choose between two sons and then kill the one she wanted to save---While they were awake.
Did you guys notice.. This was another incident where one of Alicent’s blood was killed on Ser Cristen’s watch

What surprised me most about this episode, was that although I desise Larys and Otto, Aemond as king wasn't as bad as I thought he'd be. (at this point in the show).
I totally agree! He was actually trying to be what he thought was a good king although he is definitely inexperienced
Helaena was mumbling about dragons of thread at Laena's funeral. Perhaps she saw the new opening.
Also Viserys mentioned tapestries when Daemon returned from the Stepstones.
So many reactors weren't paying attention when they asked Daemon what to do if they couldn't find Aemond. Regardless of what the writers intended, there is an implication that there's a plan b.
It was VERY subtle!
Aemond is indeed a good strategic target. If he is dead, you could reclaim his big dragon, which will weaken the greens significantly. The son for a son plan B makes no real sense, has no strategic value and creates more rage. If someone should be punished, it is Aemond, who killed Luceris. If you can´t find him instantly, find out where he will be tomorrow and try it another day.

I think Daemon just want to escalate the war. Heck the plan b, He definetly wanted to trigger Aegon so he would attack to dragonstone out of anger but thankfully Aegon listened to Cole.
Part of me hoped you'd wait for the others to catch up - but that's completely unreasonable! Hope you enjoy the show again, its been a wild ride already.

That was really fun guys. Have either of you read "Fire and Blood?" They were supposed to kill Aemond, but he's a man. It was different in the books. In the books they went to the Tower of the Hand where Allicent moved after Vyseres died. Helena took the kids to visit her mother every night. Blood and Cheese broke into Allicent's rooms, killed her maid and waited for Helena. When she came in they made her choose between Jaheares and Maelor her younger son. She chose Maelor so they killed Jaeheres. The Episode is called A Son for a Son.

If they can find out Helena´s night routine, they also should find out Aemond´s.
I would send some of the Velarion girls and her smaller dragon to the Vale, just to keep her out of the war. And I also would send the construction plans for scorpions with her, for the case bigger dragons should show up there.

He fell from like 15, 000 feet. My poor little prince is dead. 😣

@@andromidiuswhy? He's Alicent's sworn sword. There are 4 kingsguard in Kl currently. One should be with Aegon but that leaves two more. As lord commander Cole was supposed to deploy them.
In the book, the murder occurs in the Tower of the Hand. That's why the kingsguard wasn't present.
@@havok6280 we saw two with Aegon and the third, Arryk, was commanding the scorpion and the regular guards who were on watch outside for enemy dragons. Cole as commander was probably not on watch at all, or he was on watch for Alicent since he’s sworn to her but who really knows.
Commander Cole always fails in his duties.

Why is it all on viserys? It was ambition from Otto and corlys that forced him remarry, it was daemon's chaotic nature and disrespect that forced him to name a girl an heir, it was rhaenyra's indecisiveness in choosing a spouse that forced her to marry a gay dude, it was rhaenyra's stupidity that caused her to have clear bastard children, it was alicent's selfishness that stopped the proposal of jace and helaena being married that would have stopped the conflict.
A ruler can't magically solve all conflict. The dance of dragons would have happened sooner or later

"dragon on dragon action" - heh heh heh - like dragons fucking. I want to see some dragons fucking. It will be hilarious. That's still my theory about the Dance of the Dragons, the name is a euphemism for the dragons fucking and everyone was just too embarrassed and pretended that they went to war instead.
Okay first off Daemon wanted to take out the guy who killed his step son first 10 mins of this show then his wife comes back then tells everyone I want him basically bring me his fracking head so Daemon goes to Kings Landing which is risky and dangerous for him to just do what he wife and queen asked of him he hires Blood and Cheese to kill the target bring me his head he tells the guys I want a son for a son they even asked ya what if we can't find him they caught away from that leaving you guess but being Daemon odds are he told them get me his head you get paid I want a son for a son so they go into the red Keep and can't find there target want to get paid and being idiots think hey we bring him the head of the King son the next heir to the throne he will pay us its even better. Sadly I think the Blacks will not be happy with Blood and Cheese the book writes that Daemon ordered this yet we seen he didn't do that yet its okay Son for a Son its war and the Greens deserve what ever happens to them period. When I think of the usurpers in GOT and House of Dragons how many kids died um lets just say Robert and Ned gang killed Dani whole blood line including Ella and her little kids so lets not forget usurpers are pure evil as hell and in war usurpers if they lose there whole blood line could be wiped out something to consider if you ever decide to over throw a government ! Anyway the Black Queen who we all side with has lost a daughter to still birth yes is was a girl and then a son to a dragon as a messenger no offense anything the Blacks do is acceptable it reminds me of people okay with Arya when she killed the whole house of Frey for her brother and mother death its okay people clapped but Dani burns down Kings landing killing the city that betrayed her whole family we call her mad seriously that's what happen Arya hero and Dani mad lol I know a killer when I see ya yeah because Arya you actually became one faster then Dani did when ya think about it !

Larys also mentioned he'd replaced much of the household staff, so another idea is he has less guards around for his own ends. I'd also say the whole point is we don't know what Daemon said, just like we don't know for sure if he had actually said the 'heir for a day' thing in episode 1.
But yeah, as other people pointed out, it's amusing the split between book and non-book readers - Non-Book Readers: OMG WTH THIS IS HORRIBLE ; Book Readers: Meh - was much worse in hte actual book.
Regarding Daemon's hair. You did miss one white haired character in this episode...to be fair...

Alicent and Cole don't bang in the book. Heck, he doesn't even sleep with Rhaenrya. He is guilty of many things but breaking his vow of celibacy isn't one of them.
But these books were meant to be written from unreliable narrators aren’t they?
@@MugShotzReactstrue but usually they paint Alicent in the most negative light. For example, the book says she gave handjobs to old king Jahaerys and lost her virginity to Daemon. So if she was sleeping with Cole, they likely would have said so.
The show runners have consistently tried to make the Greens look bad. That’s why so many fans are team Black. But as the war goes on, both sides will commit atrocities. No one wins when dragons go to war.
@@MugShotzReacts It was supposed to have been written by a Maester decades after the events took place, based on narratives provided by a Maester, a Septon, and "Mushroom" a dwarf/fool who generally provided the most lurid and crazy scenarios. The fact that 3/4 of those providing the "history" were from the Citadel and the Faith of the Seven (both headquartered in Oldtown), it's reasonable to speculate that their versions tended to favor the Hightower side of the story, as both organizations were heavily influenced by, if not in thrall to, the Hightowers.

You can't marry into royalty. That's why it was so egregious when Cersei took the throne. Daemon is the consort to Rhaenrya.
He would still have the title King (Consort), although there is no precedent for this in this world so, shrug

In the books, it's even worse. Helaena is forced to choose which of her children she wants to have killed. She chooses the 2nd born, and Blood and Cheese simply kill the opposite after telling the younger one that her mom wanted her dead. Also, in the books, Alicent was there to witness it happen! Craziness.

I’m a bit surprised the Vale agreed to support Ryanna. The lords of the Vale (correctly) suspected that Daemon killed his Royce wife.
