His erratic drunken behavior would've never been allowed in the workplace today. It was one thing that he was an alcoholic in private but it's quite another when his drunken behavior bled into the work place which it did. Their was a reason why Jim Ursay described how he did things which was "Ready fire aim".
dude robert irsay was one person I was Inspired with, even though he done stupid things outside of football, he was a character that some new people might not care about today, but when heard about him when i was 10 back in 2008, hearing the information about how the colts use to be indianapolis, this dude got my attention and I wanted to be like him when i heard about him.
The Colts won the Afc east three years in a row from 1975-1977 and only had two home games that weren’t blacked out because of poor attendance. I read an article from 1970 or 1971 where Rosenbloom was complaining about the stadium and attendance. Like him or not Irsay made a good business decision to move. Memorial stadium was an outdated stadium in an area that was difficult to get to with poor parking. I hated going to memorial stadium.
B. Irsay was an embarrassment. But read about the city's eminent domain passed to take over the team. Baltimore was a sewer back then. They've turned it around since, but as a businessman I'd do the same.
Keep in mind, for 10 years before this press conference the state repeatedly refused Irsay's requests to renovate Memorial Stadium or build a new stadium. In 1974, the State of Maryland passed legislation forbidding state money to be used for a new stadium. Irsay should have left then.
That wasn’t a workable solution back then. He was a chronic alcoholic and liar who destroyed the franchise. Long time ago now but in the end it all worked out for Indy, Baltimore and even Cleveland.
I mean Modell brought football back to Baltimore. And after Modell sold his majority of the team, came Steve Biscotti. Who is one of the best owners in all of football. So there’s that.
He brought football back to Baltimore by robbing Cleveland of it's team and identity. The people of Baltimore who lost the Colts were hypocrites for taking in Modell and the Browns with open arms.@@jakegodman
I’m still a Chargers fan. But I grew up in greater LA anyway. I think if they moved to Vegas instead of the Raiders, I very well might have still been loyal to them.
I find it very interesting how Baltimore fans still have a deep hatred for the Colts and Indianapolis, yet they did the same thing to Cleveland. For the record, I’m a Bears fan so I have my own problems. 🤦🏼♂️🤣
Robert irsay best quote: "I don't wanna talk to you!" What😊 an amazing guy
“I’m a good catholic” Proceeds to curse 😂
Btw he was Jewish.
@@mouchiecat1 Fitting.
It’s 2024 and the Colts Name Still belongs in Baltimore! PERIOD! Why the NFL didn’t keep it here is inexcusable!!!
7 Minutes of Irsay lying 😂
"I haven't been to Arizooner!"
seconds later
"I haven't been to Arizona fer...uh, the last couple days."
Definitely had a couple drinks

Absolutely hammered 🍺🍸
"I have not any intention of moving the Goddamn team if I did I'll tell you about it"
2 months later he moved the "Goddamn team"
Like Father Like Son
To be fair the city was going to take the team away from him, so he didn't have much of a choice.

The Colts were essentially gone on January 20, 1984 the day of this press conference
I didn’t know the word Arizona was so hard to say.
1984 mayflower customer of the year
I’m a good catholic followed by “I’m not moving the god damn team”
I get the feeling he really, really doesn't like that reporter to his left.
"I have no interest in moving the goddamn team." The biggest lie in football history.
he had be secret his team was about to be snatched out from under him by the city… its why m&t bank isnt in baltimore.

By March... They were in Indianapolis
Yep snuck out in the middle of the night.
@Coogan March 29,1984 is the date the Colts moved out

He really didnt want to talk to someone out there😂😂😂
“Whaddaya HENNNNG me for?”
the way he told that reporter " i'm not talking to you " ; sounds like he is the role model for biden's press secretary
Hahah this is fantastic!! And Bob is slurring his words like he's drunk
He didn't drink during work hours I'm sure. Probably had a business drink from time to time but I don't think he did that often.
He wasnt in arizona he was in indiana
Dude's drunk as a skunk!! 🍷 🥂 🍺 🍻
Indeed he was. Robert Ursay was notorious for his drinking and it bled into the work place which I'm sure was hell for his son Jim Ursay.

Funny how they built one after 1995 for the Browns/Ravens
On the other side of the coin, no one wants to deal with a rude and disrespectful liar.
Irsay wanted $25 million for improvements Memorial Stadium. Maryland offered $23 million
That wasn’t a workable solution back then. He was a chronic alcoholic and liar who destroyed the franchise. Long time ago now but in the end it all worked out for Indy, Baltimore and even Cleveland.
@@michaelleroy9281That change the law after the Colts left. So that could get a new team.
He says " I'll be there" yep for all of 2 months
Mayflower Bob…the deal was likely already inked.
IIRC he was playing Arizona & Indianapolis against each other up until the day before the move.
This guy must be drunk 😂
He was drunk for years.
Moved to Indianapolis after eminent domain was passed by legislature. Baltimore should have built the Colts a stadium but…
3:08
4:37
What a buffoon he was.
He never mentioned indianapolis
That's because he probably didn't talk to Indy yet
Could Baltimore have been cursed with two worse owners, Irsay and Modell?
I mean Modell brought football back to Baltimore. And after Modell sold his majority of the team, came Steve Biscotti. Who is one of the best owners in all of football. So there’s that.

Have another drink … dope !!
🤣🤣 Is it okay to stay loyal post-move?
I mean some people in San Diego are still Chargers fans and some people in Oakland are still Raider fans and go to Vegas for Raider games.

Old ancient Baltimore fans probably because no one in Baltimore gives a damn about the colts buddy. It’s all about the Flock
I hear exactly what you’re saying. Owners of pro teams and municipal officials need to work with each other, not against each other.
The Bears were going to win a Super Bowl one year after this move
He looks drunk
Swine
If this guy wasn't an alcoholic;he looked and sounded like he should have been.
I've heard stories that you could smell alcohol on his breath a mile away.
He was
That's unfair, you don't know anything about him.
@@dabneyoffermein595 he was a raging alcoholic, it's very public knowledge
