WvW is such a fun game mode once you understand it. It can be pretty intimating to start since not a lot of other games does something similar (that I know of) and the game doesn't really hold you hand in teaching you what to do. This is a great video/guide to help people to start. Great job as always MM.

These videos are always helpful. You really should have explained the differences betweern Testimomies, Memories, Badges and Skirmish tickets. This is never explained and very confusing for new players.

I am an old gamer and I really miss Realm versus Realm from Dark age of Camelot. I just got this game with the steam release and hit level 80 a couple days ago, I'm really hoping world versus world can scratch that itch. Thank you for the guide, hopefully a year later it is still relevant lol.

While low WVW Level, I suggest going into the Supply lines a couple of pips. While you're zerging about, people appreciate folks who are carrying a lot of supply and can push it out onto siege. Once you level up, you can switch out your points again for something else useful.

At last someone did a WvW video guide :) - really nice video. I would like to see a guide on how to be a commander - though I think most skilled commanders would keep those trade secrets to themselves :)
Another topic that I would like to see in a video is why play WvW - but not in terms of the rewards - but where the fun comes from like - trill of a zerg jumping on another zerg, the show that commanders put on discord, the social elements, the domination over the other team, fame etc. - things that are not related to in-game rewards - because I think players don't play for the gold, legendaries or for their world's rank most of the time - they do it for other social reasons. This game mode is a sandbox - it has the potential to create endless content on its own. I wonder why no streamers take advantage of this mode - maybe it is hard to stream and lead a zerg at the same time.
A commanders guide to WvW is on my list, just haven't had the proper time to make the guide with the quality I'm ok with.
I also agree on your point about rallying with your guild. That to me has always been the big motivation to play WvW. Having fun rallying with your guild 3 to 4 times a week. Trying new builds, waiting for weekly reset and of course the messing around.

I walked into WvW for the first time today and looked up this guide. It didn't help at all because I'm still just sitting here going "I have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing..."

As in some parts of your video seen in the chat, Rangers seem to be hated or not liked in WvW. I love my character, a ranger, and have a lot of fun, even in WvW.
Is it that big of a deal for others in WvW so they won't play with me? Or is there a way to be helpful as a ranger, too? I'm a druid, I could heal f.e. ...

Hey, druid would be fine and even a Soul Beast or Core ranger although those are better for roaming than group play. Some commanders may be fine with any class, but others may request that squad members swap to more requested roles. Ranger sadly is not a great class in group play currently, except for Druid to provide heals. It can change though depends on balance updates
The best part Is playing ranger in large scale pvp 😅.. never saw them do something usefull other than roaming
Okay okay. So tell me how to find a guild on a server that wont lose t3 keeps/towers because the commanders are off gvging instead of defending?
Does the double xp event stack with other boosters? Can you do a video on all stackable booster you can use at once?
Yes the boosters will stack on top of the event xp buffs
How can I play wvw as a solo thief? I don't like big zerg battles, but I still want to gain rewards and have fun in wvw
I know the wall of text below does not go towards the ''guide'' of the event, i guess i'm just venting the lack of interest wvw has received for the past few years
Once again, good video and I hope people end up enjoying WvW since it's an amazing game mode.
Now the rant:
Only thing that has changed in past few years is the ''competitive'' part
It feels like servers don't care about the outcome whatsoever and only a few ones actually try to perform well
It seems to lack any kind of ''reason'' to perform well and I wish this game mode would get some sort of buff for the server depending on their placement within the rank
Such as having different loot bag tiers based on your server tier
e.g. tier 1-3 would get bags with higher rarity gear (equivalent to rare unidentified gear) instead of normal loot bags from kills
tier 4-6 to get green
anything below to get blue
That would promote more competitive spirit regarding such activities, where points/ winning fights consistently would matter
if there were a real reason to win that would be bad for the current system as everyone would just transfer to the winning servers
winning by points gives more pips
winning fights gives more wxp and loot
so its not like there is not already a reason to win its just not that obvious/profitable in gold/h
but I agree WvW could use more attention in the whole mmo market
with the combat system gw2 provides there is nothing that compares to it out there after all
Hello, I'm new to the game. I play ranger and I'm wondering what class is better. Druid or soulbeast.
Druid is a heal based class so useful if want to play support. SB are great for roaming
I played for 8 years I never managed to get into WvW despite playing PvP avidly

I really fucking hate that almost every single mmo requires you to watch youtube guides and pray some experienced player wastes their own time and breath to explain shit to you. this is why people play ffxiv even tho its trash, cause its understandable and makes sense all the way to the end.
