This is not the first time a weight loss wonder drug has been introduced. My mother died from the FDA approved, doctor prescribed Phen-Fen. A miracle drug that ended in the deaths of so many people because of side effects, in my mother's case it damaged her heart and we actually joined and won a class action lawsuit related to the tragedy.

You would think that Medicare would be in favor of preventative care instead of damage control since sick people cost way more than healthy people? We know that good dental hygiene can help prevent heart trouble and other medical issues and being a healthy weight can prevent a myriad of diseases and sickness so you would think these drugs would be covered?

Always do research on the medication before you use the prescription. Discuss the medication with your Doctor and then tell the Doctor you would like to go do more research about the Medication, and let your Doctor know that you will call or text them with your decision. It's your job to make your own decisions, not your Doctor's, they can guide us with their knowledge and advice. Then doing our research and making our own decision is on us

      I was on ozempic I couldn't get
my supply because of the shortage at my pharmacy. Because so many people are on it for weight loss. So my doctor put me on another medication. I'm on it for type 2 diabetes. My insurance coverEd it I paid $20 a month. One pen lasted a month 1 shot a week. Now I'm on a pill form of semaglutide and I paid $40 for a 90 day supply. If you are diabetic, you're insurance will cover it, but they won't cover it for weight loss. Wayloss is basically just a side effect of the medication. The medication was not designed for weight loss. It was designed for type 2 diabetes. Diabetics who are taking it. Don't take that mega dose that they give others for weight loss. Our doses is much lower.

I started intermittent fasting last May, and it is a life changer for me. I took weight off sensibly and easily and it cost me nothing. I liked the fasting because anyone can do it. It’s not only for the rich, it’s not elitist, it’s for everyone. It’s now part of my life for ever. I have shared it with family and friends, and it’s working for them as well. For example, a person who was once obese and listed weight to get to your weight will have to restrict calories to 20-30% less than you can consume to maintain the same weight you do or they will regain the weight rapidly. Let me share my story. I am 81 years old. At the age of 77 my brother-in-law told me about intermittent fasting. I tried it and it worked for me. My highest weight was 275 lbs, I’m 5’2”. It took about 3 years but now I am 120-125. I’ve maintained it, and I’ve adapted my daily routine to allow me to fast for 16-18 hrs a day. Sometimes I go longer, other days I don’t quite make it. But I have to say that, after 50-60 years of obesity, trying, trying to lose weight, this has been the easiest thing I’ve ever had to do to lose weight. It was easy precisely because of the very thing Oprah and the others are talking about. I did not feel hungry. Today is one of those days that, because I had a very satisfying lunch, I didn’t have dinner. I do log my food every day because I’ve done it for so many years of my life dieting, and I try to limit calories. But I do not feel deprived. I’m writing this to say to you…you’re right. It’s not just calories in, calories out. Cutting calories and exercising more, does NOT necessarily work. I’m not trying to promote intermittent fasting. I’m trying to say that what we’ve been told for decades, is not the way our bodies work. I have type 2 diabetes, but after losing weight my doctor took me off the medication. All my numbers improved. , obesity is a serious problem, but there is a point where obesity started to and developed into the epidemic we have today. But there are people now who are saying, “when did this all start? What did we think then? Did we miss something?” I’m glad Oprah is talking about this, it’s very important. I like to say that at my age, all the things I used to worry about don’t bother me anymore. I have much less stress in my life. I think that attitude helped me through the 3 years. All this fat shaming and self criticism puts enormous stress primarily on women. When people tell me how proud they are of me, how much will power I had, it must have really been tough. I say, I am no hero, this was easy. And you shouldn’t have to be a hero either. Sorry for going on and on. I have a lot of empathy for any woman who has tried to lose weight. It shouldn’t have to be that way.

The problem is that Oprah wanted to slim down on her body shape and the frame structure of her body.
And there lies the problem, a person cannot physically change their body frame structure, because it is based on our bones, which shape our body frame structure.
I think she was losing weight and slimming down, but realised that her body frame did not change or slim down contrastingly with her body fat and weight.
That's why if a short stocky guy may be not be that overweight or obese in body fat, but due to their bone structure, it makes them look stockey.
Alot of short stocky guys actually have flat stomachs. And have skinny legs.

Most obese people have excessive food noise. You can’t just turn it off. If it were that easy no one would be overweight. When your hunger and satiety hormones aren’t functioning properly your body thinks you’re hungry all the time and you can’t stop thinking about eating.
It’s easy for people who have normal functioning bodies to pretend like you are paragons of self discipline when you aren’t even on the same playing field as the rest of us. You aren’t superior and you have arguably less discipline and willpower than any obese person who has ever lost weight. You can’t even begin to understand.
So maybe stop with the judgement and just consider yourself lucky.

You're absolutely right. I think they're saying that so people can get on this medication to lose weight. I didn't watch The Show. I wonder if they addressed the fact that there is a shortage for diabetics who actually needed for life-saving measures. Did they also mention that people who take it for weight loss will have to take it for the rest of their lives

I disagree! I have suffered and shamed since I was a toddler! And it is not fair! I am a medical provider, and obesity is a complex disease and I am grateful for medications to help us lose and maintain our weight!

No it isn’t fair to be judged because of our weight however it’s still not a disease. It’s an addiction that we created as a coping mechanism. I didn’t say anything about using medication for weight loss. Each to their own.

Life after death? God loves the world, He gave His Son Jesus whoever believes will not die but have everlasting life. John3:16 Are you afraid of dying? One out of every one dies. Dont be afraid. Jesus died for you believe & repent.

Okay, the documentary is seemingly nothing I thought it was.
I hope fatphobia was also specifically highlighted.

I was slim until I started ordering pizza, eating velveta macaroni and cheese and eating bags of peanut m&ms, this is stupid. So is she still shoveling food into her mouth? I'm not and I don't need drugs.

Congratulations to Oprah. Thats a VERY long struggle that noone should have to go through for basic human contentment. I don't see what peoples problem is ( she's been criticised). I could add that in a survey of childhood abuse victims, in some cases weight problems occurred. (I caught pic of Virginia Giuffre ( Epstein's victim) too..

I am a small in clothes. It’s only because I don’t want to be near a medium size. I know that doesn’t look good, it’s not healthy and I refuse to own larger size clothes. It is discipline. I don’t focus on my feelings to let myself eat anything but I rather focus on healthy foods. that keep me full. I eat 6 times a day in half portions.
People that are overweight, give up on what is healthy and just eat anything. You can’t have an appealing body and appealing diet at the same time ever.

Yeah, all those people followed her over to Weight Watchers signed up for all those memberships. And now she abandoned weight watchers. Gave away all her shares and resigned from the board. Now she's taking medication to help her lose weight. When she was the main one, shaming everyone for doing so. Now, this new agenda of weight loss medication she's on, May put a lot of diabetics who are already in jeopardy of a shortage in further jeopardy.
