ABHISARIKA: She who dares | Manaswini Avvari

Abhisarika is one of the 8 Nayikas, or heroines described in the Natyashastra. She is impatient and cannot wait any longer to meet her lover. Why won't he come for her or see her just once? Hasn't he noticed her bold looks, indicating her undying love for him? Unable to bear the separation, she sets asides conventions, adorns herself in extravagant jewels, and dares to meet him on her own, driven with passion and conviction. In other words, she shoots her shot.
