I had similar thoughts being a deadhead myself but it’s like comparing apples to oranges . Mayer and Strings are just two totally different personalities literally and musically. Both musicians absolutely show enthusiasm and respect for the dead tunes they perform and both men seem to enjoy and grow from playing it. I would rather see Billy and the kids+strings than dead and co, but we’re fortunate to have both !!
These guys are reinventing bluegrass don’t get me wrong I love traditional but it’s people like strings who say why does one Genre of music have to be this out that he just does what he does best and continues to put out great music and wow people with amazing shows and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that
