Great recommendations and videos, I will defiantly check some of these out. These days I only collect the classics or older shows and movies on Physical media, the new stuff, in my opinion isn't worth rewatching all that much. They don't seem to take time or effort on movies and shows as much, I mean there as some that are great and worth a rewatch, but a lot of others are forgettable. Oh well, I'll spend less money and just buy those movies and shows I will rewatch all the time. I hope Disney releases some of their classic cartoons on Blu ray or DVD again, it would be nice to rewatch them and own them in my collection. Keep up the great videos.

I really want that Last Emperor 4k. I've been meaning to check out that Bee Gees doc. 1st/Horizontal/Idea/Odessa are easily classics. If you haven't you ought to check out Robin's solo work. Good stuff. Always appreciate your videos.

I love Wise Blood! Had the privilege to jump on as a guest on The Projection Booth podcast and talk about that last year and it was a complete pleasure to revisit.
I did get Barry Lyndon Criterion because of you're recommendation, and I did enjoy it definitely a pretty good movie. I am a fan of Stanley Kubrick I don't think it is a top 10 for me, so not as much of a fan as you are, but definitely a great movie and different taking place in the 1700s or 1800s. So I'm glad I have it.
If you want to see a good film about jazz I'd suggest "Round Midnight". It was made in the eighties starring Dexter Gordon as an aging jazz giant. It's a great fiction film that's currently in the Criterion Collection if you'd like to check it out
Hello, Elliot. I've been watching you for awhile. Besides your great content, I have to say, your calm, quiet presentations are pleasant to listen to. I just knew you were going to bring up "Wise Blood," a favorite of mine. The original story was published in my birth year by Flannery O'Connor. It's a classic of Southern gothic in America; I live in the South. I watched this film version. with a great performance by Brad Dourif, in a theatre when it premiered; and it has been a favorite of mine since, though the film is quirky and perhaps not for everyone. Criterion has had a dvd of it for yesrs and I have long had hopes they will upgrade to, at least, a Blu-ray. Thanks, again, for your informative and enjoyable videos.
Great news on new arrow video bruce lee box set I have preorder the yellow box version that you can only preorder from arrow video so Which one would you preorder the red version or the yellow limited box set version
I really wanted to pick up War of the Worlds 4k, but after I saw the issue with the colours of Mars and such, I decided to wait for another release of it.
Wouldn't say you were particularly going out on a limb with these in terms of obscure. But maybe the last emperor has been forgotten a little and I'm not familiar with wiseblood so for that.
I have the Last Emperor set and it’s a 4K restoration on blu ray is it not? It looks superb but it’s not a 4K disc unless you have a different version to me?
@@nocoture thanks, in fact there are two versions, the 4K one seems to be out of stock at Arrow. I have the blu but it looks excellent so I’m happy enough

Eliot I like a lot your channel and your criterion is quite similar to mine but considering babylon one of the best films of last year just killed me 😅😅😅 It would be nice if you talk about it, what is it that you like about the movie because I just couldn´t stand it. So much pretentious, excessively long (no sense to do so), boring, lot of lies about the industry at that times, bad acting performances. I just didn´t like at all. But that´s my particular opinion, I find Damien Chazelle super pretentious director, I don´t like his movies (only whiplash which I think is great).
The Last Emperor has been converted to 3D and that is the version I would go for. Babylon is not my cup of tea, i found it bloated, empty and overrated.

Red Angel is an underrated gem.

Watched Moonlighting the other week, great stuff. I also got EO (solid) and The Shout, which was even better than I remembered it

Vinegar syndrome have now released two forgotten Universal movies on blu ray ie 1943 Flesh and Fantasy and the Cat Creeps 1946. Cheers.

Well the blu ray is down graded from 4k to 2k so it's fits on the blu ray disc

I am skeptical of all movies that everyone loves and especially so when the evangelical fans go on and on and on about it.
