This video saved me from an argument (with my spouse) and a service call. My spouse didn't believe me on how to address our fireplace not working....this video supported me. Your instructions were followed and now we have a fire.
Great video to understand the basic, what I was doing wrong was, I didn't hold the Electric On/Off switch for enough time. So, Hold the Electric switch for a little while, you hear a continuous clicking and little pause and then fireplace will come on. I think It has a mechanism to release Gas after a short while. Thanks again!!! 10 out of 10
This was great information!. So the two additional questions I have are how do I tell the power is on and check the power source (via the main circuit electricity box in the garage?)?....and what if the AC adapter to the ignition module needs replacement?
Heat N Glo SL-750TR-D Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. We have a steady pilot light on. I tried checking on the thermopile with a multimeter, the readings were around 460-470 without the actual flames on. We thought its a valve problem and had scheduled an inspection and almost had the gas valve replaced but then one night flames started on their own. Now the flames stay steady but sometimes they do flicker randomly. By flicker I mean, it would turn off on its own, and when I go in the control unit and shake the valve, it would come back on. It looks like it has its own mind. 😁😄 I tried checking all wires and all knobs are "on" (and not in the pilot position). We have a wall switch to turn the unit on and off. Thank you...
On the decorative front screen there is a flap that hides the pilot light and other mechanisms. Is it okay to position this so that these parts are hidden or should it be up for air flow?
I have a remote control Heat & Glo gas fire. I have no trouble getting the fire started but once started the fan will not turn on. Do you have any suggestions?
I have a wall mounted stove it has like five or six little squares on that light up with all them little square shouldn't be lit up when it's on low should it
I have a 25 yr old model 6000tv, that I need to convert from natural gas to LP. Is this possible? I find lots of info for converting everything else except these.
I have an intermittent pilot controlled by a wall switch. Watched many videos trying to determine why my logs would not light. Not one of them mentioned that the wall switch might be bad. This was the problem with mine. I removed the switch from the outlet box and used a short piece of old thermostat wire and made a jumper wire. This is safe to do because it is only 3 volts of current. When I place the jumper wire between the poles on the switch, the pilot came on and the logs lit right up.
Then your problem was that you did not turn on the fireplace. This video is completely useless. My issue is that it won't ignite despite the fact that there is spark and gas. If I use a lighter, it works and once it is warm, then it ignites for about 30 sec but after that it won't ignites again. Spark is good, gas is plenty, all works yet it won't start. This video does nothing to help this probably common issue. I cleaned the igniter and the areas but they were clean to begin with. I ran it for about 30 minutes to make sure the gas flow is good, and it is. Pilot light flames are blue and strong. My fireplace has no stand alone pilot, it starts when I flick a switch and it is supposed to turns on after a few seconds. It used to but not anymore.
We have a standing pilot system in our 25-year-old Heat-N-Glo gas fireplace. It's been working great, but yesterday turned on all by itself and we could not turn it off! We can not find the gas valve, either! We have no remote control, but turn it off/on via a switch on the side of the fireplace. Can you please give us some direction? Thank you.
We have a 750TR model and the unit won"t shut off when remote is turned to OFF. No wall switch that we can find. Lights right up but just won't shut off or shut sown when desired temp is reached. Tried setting the timer to 15 and even then it wouldn't shut off.
It's 90 degrees outside, and the fireplace fan came on by itself! We haven't used the fireplace in months. So I shut the auto fan off. Is it so hot out that it turns a fan on?
I called the local dealer and they came out and cleaned the stove and replaced the ember pieces, which took all of 20 minutes, then tried to charge us $530 of which they said $180 was for a new lightbulb that they would have to order. Now a couple weeks later the thing quit working again. I'll look for better troubleshooting instructions with part numbers and do it myself.
My 19 year Heat-n-glo has a standing pilot system with a strong pilot light. It started working intermittently. I replaced both thermopile & thermocouple. I turned it on every day for a week & now nothing. Any suggestions?
I hope you can direct me to some basic trouble shooting before I fork over $200.00 initial fee before anything gets done. I have your fireplace, the exhaust gets in the room. your eyes burn and it smells very strong. what are few basic checks I can do before scheduling a repair guy (they can not get to us till end of January !!!) ? thanks
Heat and Glow fireplace - 6000TR Help would be greatly appreciated. Fireplace doesn’t ignite. Pilot light stays on. New thermopile, we have juice at the gas valve but burner will not light. We have checked all wires and all knobs are on (and not in the pilot position). It has a wall switch. Thank you!
Need Help: I have Intermittent Heatilator Gas Fire log Model# ND42361. I have two wall switches. When I turn the 1st wall switch (power) nothing happens but after turning the 2nd wall switch the pilot comes on and stays on but the burner does not. I have: Replaced the IPI electronic ignition control module & A/C Wall Adaptor. Cleaned burner holes and heat sensor (flame is close to heat sensor - heat sensor turns red) . I will truly appreiciate if anyone can let me know what other troubleshooting I can do to get the burner working ? Blessings
I have a Hean-N-Glo SL-750TR-IPI-D fireplace. The flame is lit when we turn on the wall switch and after warming for a few minutes the blower comes on. My question is about how to run the fireplace when the electricity goes out, ie in an ice storm. I know where to manually turn on the gas but this stays on and seems to be controlled by the switch on the wall. How do we use this without electricity? There is a casing for two Size D batteries inside the unit next to the on-off gas value and the knob that you can turn to adjust height of the flame. Thanks
My granddaughter has a Heat & Glo model SL-750TR fireplace which was working fine earlier this winter. Now the main burner refuses to light (the standing pilot is fine). I did a bunch of troubleshooting last night. With the thermopile wires connected at the gas valve I get about 450 mV whether the main switch is on or off. With the wires disconnected my meter indicates an open circuit across the TP and TH terminals. I suspect that this indicates a bad valve.. am I correct?
Hi +Stephen Rutkowski. Regarding potential repairs of the appliance, we recommend that you work with your local authorized dealer. Your local authorized dealer can provide the proper diagnosis, equipment and resources to provide the necessary corrective actions. Arriving at an accurate diagnosis can be very difficult by phone, email or social media. We ask that your dealer contact us if further assistance is needed to resolve your service issue. Heat & Glow has a beautiful fireplace with technology that is garbage, unreliable, 10 to 20 years old. An old fashion touchscreen monitor on the remote that shut off after seven seconds. And Wi-Fi module that loses connection doesn’t work nearly 80% of the time. The phone app is limited and buggy. Even when it’s working, there is no setback to turn the fireplace to a lower temperature at night as if that’s a new idea?
Hi! We just moved into a house with one. The flame of the fire will not get any bigger. It's pretty small right now. The low battery light is on the remote screen, after I just changed the batteries. So do batteries need to be replaced in the receiver? Is that why the flame won't get bigger? Even though it turns the fireplace on?
Should the pilot flame touch the thermocouple? I ask because my natural gas fireplace pilot won't stay lit and when I removed the logs to troubleshoot, the igniter does begin the flame from the pilot gas tube but is an inch away and flame goes up away from the thermocouple. So I don't think it is heating the thermocouple in order to engage the thermocouple to keep the pilot lit. It's a Rasmussen chill buster UO24 and the thermocouple tip is only 1 inch long. How to turn the pilot gas up to touch the thermocouple? Will a lighter produce enough heat to test the thermocouple with a multimeter 18 - 22 mv (I saw online)?

Hi, I have a Heat & Glo model SL-750TR fireplace in my restaurant and it's way too hot. Is there a way to turn down the amount of heat this gives off. Please let me know because I've stopped turning it on.
Hi +Mary Ellen Blue. In the control area of the fireplace, there should be a knob that says High or Low, that is for the flame adjustment. Another great resource is to reach out to an authorized dealer for assistance. Below is a link to locate a dealer near you. Dealer Locator: www.heatnglo.com/WhereToBuy.aspx
My pilot would not lite, tried cleaning, noticed by trying to lite at the pilot with a lighter that the lighter flame didn't even flicker, so i shut off the main leading into the control box, disconnected the line going into the box, turn the shut off value back on and no gas was coming out, what am i missing here, thank you
Pinky Floyd, thank you for reaching out to us. Regarding the potential repair of your appliance, we recommend reaching out to a local dealer, for they are your best resource. Perhaps the title to this video would be better at "Determining what type of control valve you have".... Other than electric and gas supply turned on - I find absolutely no troubleshooting help here at all. Other than to call my local dealer. Sigh.
Hi +cuskit, thanks for reaching out. It is important to determine what type of ignition system you have, as that'll determine what steps need to be taken. You also want to make sure the system is getting power and fuel (gas). If you have all of those things, and you try lighting it again and it still isn't lighting, it is important to contact an authorized dealer as it could be a more complex problem. Our authorized dealers are factory trained and certified to sell, service, and install our products. Because of their training, they will be able to determine what the problem is and how it needs to be fixed. Thanks again!
I'm glad I read this. The one thing I didn't think to check was the power. I didn't realize the pilot needed power to operate; I thought the power was just needed for the fan. Anyway, plugging in the power cord somebody had unplugged solved the problem!
+Gary Hymes thanks for reaching out to us. We do put troubleshooting videos online to help assist with very basic troubleshooting. Have a Heat and Glo system that won't turn on. Watched the video that said had to turn the switch from Remote to off (verify the light is blinking back and forth from green to red) and then wait 5 minutes turn back to remote and listen for the beep. I do not even have a light illuminating. Checked the plugs and I have power, checked all the connections and all works. Any ideas?
Hi +Bill Jones. It sounds like your problem could be in the module itself. A great resource is to contact an authorized dealer to diagnose your problem. Below is a link to locate a dealer in your area. Happy holidays! Dealer Locator: www.heatnglo.com/WhereToBuy.aspx
please help, nothing but problems since we purchased the Rc300 2 years ago. today it wont stay lite then re lites every minute then goes out after a few seconds.

Not much use really - we've had to have our fireplaces serviced for the same damn problem (stops working intermittently) every 2 to 3 years. Each time the control board has to be replaced, making the cost of owning one of these stupid expensive. Is it really that hard to make a controller that doesn't die every other year (or more?)
Burner will not stay on my SP-7500 IPI. After turning switch on the pilot will lite and burner will come on. Will burn for varied amounts of time ranging from one to thirty minutes then goes out. I have replaced the pilot assembly, gas valve and module. Exhaust and intake air are clear. Gas pressure is fine. Unfortunately the closest dealer is 2 1/2 hrs away. Any suggestions?
I bought an 8000 CLX with RC300 Remote a couple months ago for a new home. Just tried to turn on my fireplace for the first time. I can get the fireplace to light moving the module switch to on, the green light blinks and it beeps, the pilot clicks and the fire starts with no issues. However, when I try to use the remote, nothing happens. I placed the module switch to remote and no light blinks, no beeps, nothing. Tried to reset and after letting go of the reset button, nothing happens. No blinking light. No beeps. Nothing. Everything appears to be wired correctly, I unplugged and then plugged in again, changed batteries on remote, but can't get it to do anything. Bad module also? What is the warranty, do I have to pay for a new module if mine is bad?
Hi +Lee Marks. It's very difficult to diagnose technical problems through online messages, could you please give us a call at 1 (888) 427-3973? One of our Specialists will be able to assist you. They are available M-F 8am - 8pm (CST). We look forward to hearing from you. Happy holidays!
Our unit was synced with the remote but the remote could not turn it on or off. If we set the unit to the remote setting, it would turn on automatically, which should not happen. The only thing that worked (not in any heat $ Glo video) was: Turn the unit to the “remote” setting and leave it on until it shuts itself off. For us that was 12+ hours. Then the remote would work again.
when I have ignited the pilot and turn to on position the fireplace turns on without flipping the wall switch on and I cant find troubleshooting that addresses that can you help
We have 2 Heat N Glo standing pilot fireplaces. The living room fireplace pilot is burning however, when I turn the electric wall switch to the on position, active flame does not appear on the logs. The keeping room fireplace pilot is burning and a flame will ignite when the wall switch is in on position. However, this flame will only appear for a short period of time and then disappear. We have tried to research solutions but cannot locate a solution. Pls. advise.
Hi +Melinda Avila-Torio, thanks for reaching out! When is the last time both fireplaces were serviced? The flame not activating on the burner may be a result of the burner holes being blocked, or it could be something electrical. As for the flame only appearing for a short time then going out, what color is the flame while it's on? It may be a lack of airflow, which would also result in a service call to the dealer. To find an authorized dealer near you, please click on the following link. Thanks again, Melinda! Dealer Locator: www.heatnglo.com/WhereToBuy.aspx
When I plug the ignition module in, I’m not getting power at the fireplace. Any idea why I have no power there? I’ve turned my breaker on and off and there is power there but it’s not going to the white box where the ignition module goes into. Anyone with any ideas?
i have an intermittent pilot system, when I turn it on it ignites and stays on, but only has a very small blue flame. In the past it would burn throughout the logs. I tried adjusting the knob for the flame height and nothing happend. Please Help.
+Joshuas Pops thanks for reaching out to us. There are few different causes for a low flame. The gas pressures may not be set correctly, there could possibly be an air flow restriction or the air shutter could need adjusting. We do recommend having your appliance serviced yearly. Below is the link to locate a dealer near you. Hope you have a great day! Dealer Locator: www.heatnglo.com/WhereToBuy.aspx
Our fireplace was disconnected for a short period today for some remodeling. The gas was never disconnected. The fireplace does work in the manual mode (our model does not have a manual pilot light). However, when we try to use the remote mode with our SKYTECH remote, the fireplace does not light after setting the temp. The remote temp is set at 70 and the temp in the room is 64. It is set to ONTHERMO. Can anyone tell me how to get the remote to operate the fireplace again?
Problem fixed. All it took was opening the receiver and moving the batteries around. Now it's working. I guess that the remote and the receiver lost its connection when the unit was unplugged.
for some stupid reason NOBODY can answer this???! thought it was the temp sensor, swapped temp sensor, after 5 or 10 minutes fan blows as normal but NEVER shuts off after everything has cooled???
I cleaned the glass a month ago because it was hard to see the flame, in less than 3 weeks it is all black again, and an odor coming from the fireplace any thoughts?
Dylan Kapan Make sure you are using Fireplace Glass Cleaner, not just any glass cleaner, and ensuring that it completely dries before you turn the fireplace on.
PLEASE RE-TITLE THIS "CLICK-BAIT" VIDEO. This ISN'T "troubleshooting". This IS, "Take the cover off. If your fireplace doesn't work, you need to call us.". Please don't insult our intelligence.
My fireplace pilot light will live and the fireplace will light with the glass off. When I put the glass on, it does out in about 30 seconds. What is wrong with it?
Great-but must people really sit through 2 minutes of your video before they learn that it applies only to fireplaces with electronic ignition systems?
Heat n glo Cosmo i35 IFT is a piece of junk. Remote batteries last barely 2 months, operation in power outage is absurdly difficult, the heating element only covers half of the fireplace width and it won't light in a slight breeze. Overly complex.
This video saved me from an argument (with my spouse) and a service call. My spouse didn't believe me on how to address our fireplace not working....this video supported me. Your instructions were followed and now we have a fire.

Thanks for this video! I fixed our fireplace after watching this video.
Thank you so much for your video with such good explanation of how the fireplace works. It allowed me to figure out how to fix my fireplace on my own!
This was great information!. So the two additional questions I have are how do I tell the power is on and check the power source (via the main circuit electricity box in the garage?)?....and what if the AC adapter to the ignition module needs replacement?
This helped - I have the weird one with no manual pilot light switch. Unplugging and plugging the cord he showed fixed my issue.

Thanks, it's working now.
On the decorative front screen there is a flap that hides the pilot light and other mechanisms. Is it okay to position this so that these parts are hidden or should it be up for air flow?
Thank you for making this video. 💙🗺

How do you feel about Mendota?
Thanks so much! This really helped us. It totally fixed our problem! :)
We're so glad to hear that Allyson! Enjoy your Heat & Glo this winter!
Then your problem was that you did not turn on the fireplace. This video is completely useless. My issue is that it won't ignite despite the fact that there is spark and gas. Thank you.
Holy crap, why so many freaking downvotes! Thanks for the video man
+jujuandjesus we're glad you found it helpful!
Down-vote because it does help. It does not addresses any issues, just tells us to call the service men. I could do that w/o the video.
We have a 750TR model and the unit won"t shut off when remote is turned to OFF. No wall switch that we can find. Lights right up but just won't shut off or shut sown when desired temp is reached. Tried setting the timer to 15 and even then it wouldn't shut off.

I have a natural gas fireplace when I turn it on. it does not give off heat to the room it just goes out the chimney is there anyway to fix this
My 19 year Heat-n-glo has a standing pilot system with a strong pilot light. It started working intermittently. I replaced both thermopile & thermocouple. I turned it on every day for a week & now nothing. Any suggestions?

I have a Hean-N-Glo SL-750TR-IPI-D fireplace. The flame is lit when we turn on the wall switch and after warming for a few minutes the blower comes on. My question is about how to run the fireplace when the electricity goes out, ie in an ice storm.
I know where to manually turn on the gas but this stays on and seems to be controlled by the switch on the wall.
How do we use this without electricity? There is a casing for two Size D batteries inside the unit next to the on-off gas value and the knob that you can turn to adjust height of the flame.
Thanks
Eugene DeDonder did you ever get a response?
My granddaughter has a Heat & Glo model SL-750TR fireplace which was working fine earlier this winter. Now the main burner refuses to light (the standing pilot is fine).
I did a bunch of troubleshooting last night. With the thermopile wires connected at the gas valve I get about 450 mV whether the main switch is on or off. With the wires disconnected my meter indicates an open circuit across the TP and TH terminals.
I suspect that this indicates a bad valve.. am I correct?

Have a Heat and Glo system that won't turn on. Watched the video that said had to turn the switch from Remote to off (verify the light is blinking back and forth from green to red) and then wait 5 minutes turn back to remote and listen for the beep. I do not even have a light illuminating. Checked the plugs and I have power, checked all the connections and all works. Any ideas?
Hi +Bill Jones. It sounds like your problem could be in the module itself. A great resource is to contact an authorized dealer to diagnose your problem. Below is a link to locate a dealer in your area. Happy holidays!

Mine is 22 years old and has never needed a repair...

Any suggestions?
mine seems to be doing the same thing. Did you find the fix?
we have the same problem we've cleaned everything all wires seem to be fine please what's the answer
Thank you -2024
I bought an 8000 CLX with RC300 Remote a couple months ago for a new home.
The only thing that worked (not in any heat $ Glo video) was:
Turn the unit to the “remote” setting and leave it on until it shuts itself off. For us that was 12+ hours. Then the remote would work again.
Interesting, mine will no turn off... turns on fine. Maybe I'll try that
Mine shuts off after 10 minutes roughly.. starts fine with the spark. Really frustrating
when I have ignited the pilot and turn to on position the fireplace turns on without flipping the wall switch on and I cant find troubleshooting that addresses that can you help

"It wouldn't light when I asked it to." Is the fireplace shown polylingual or does it only speak English? :-)
He didn’t say please

When I plug the ignition module in, I’m not getting power at the fireplace. Any idea why I have no power there? I’ve turned my breaker on and off and there is power there but it’s not going to the white box where the ignition module goes into. Anyone with any ideas?
same issue
The batteries in our fireplace go out after a week, we keep changing them and they drain super fast. This doesnt seem right.
i have an intermittent pilot system, when I turn it on it ignites and stays on, but only has a very small blue flame.

+HeatandGlo .....the gas valve was stuck.
+Joshuas Pops we're glad your issue was resolved! Let us know if you have any other questions.
Okay but my pilot light is lit and running but the fireplace itself won’t start. It’s not mine I’m just renting.
***** great to hear! Let us know if you have any other questions.
Our pilot light will come on then 'beep beep' it will go off! Why?
What to do if the blower won’t stop?
for some stupid reason NOBODY can answer this???! thought it was the temp sensor, swapped temp sensor, after 5 or 10 minutes fan blows as normal but NEVER shuts off after everything has cooled???
@@thomaswilson5228 I eventually had to manually turn mine off
Can't tell if he is saying gas is "on" or "off" when its in the position shown...? Listened 7 times and its very muffled...
Gas is on. Knob in same direction as the gas pipe. If gas is OFF, knob turned sideways.
Absolutely no help for my Heat n Glo fireplace. My pilot is lit, the valve is on Hi, no flames…
Microphone is off
There are no local dealers here. Thanks for nothing. This fireplace has been nothing but trouble since the day it was installed.
Lol heat n glo can't beat out Stellar Hearth products
What about Mendota, Valor, Flare, or Montego?
