You know your parents raised you well if you're from the 2000s and watched this series as a kid
I have been raised well
Same
Definitely been raised well, but not well enough, sadly.
preach
2006, my dad did a good job 😁👍
i don't think it's truly appreciated how much worldbuilding went into this show.
Probably the most exciting start to any TV Sci Fi show ever. A show about saving lives, not taking them.
Hearing the theme music still gets me excited
Me too.
Thunderbirds are Go !!
I get nostalgia boners.
Before Elon Musk there was Scott Tracy!
@@PeaceDweller Jeff Tracy...
i used to watch this all the time as a kid. never realized it was from the 60’s! still love it fondly
Same, somehow it still aired on some channels during the early 2000’s and I loved watching it.
@@Conmon115 there was something so fascinating about it! penelope and thunderbird 2 were my favorites. i even had his ship as a toy
@@_skaia_ Lucky.
@@_skaia_ I had Thunderbirds 1-4 as toys too, but I played with them so roughly that most of them ended up breaking apart.
Oh, and 2 is my favorite as well.
@@wikiuser92 heh good taste :D
whoa, it's kinda crazy to think that they recorded this stuff in such high fidelity back in the 60's and no-one could even see it in all it's glory because all we had were low resolution CRT TV's ='D
That’s why film will always be better
Like most kids' TV shows, it was made to be repeated over 2 decades or so. Also, film was used because they wanted to sell to both current and future NTSC and PAL (and SECAM) territories and didn't want the bother or quality loss of videotape conversion. The plan was always to have this series playing on rotation on NTSC or PAL/ SECAM "625 line" colour TV in a number of countries well into the 1980s.
Bro what r u talking about? There was color tv in america (1965) maybe u r from India that's why cuz in 1965 there was not even tv in india
@@shironradiation2612 no one is talking about colour. OP is talking about the high quality of the near 60 year old footage.
That's the power of film: it captures the literal light, not a representation of it. If it's shot on film, it will always max out the quality of the device playing it back.
Born in 66 and this show was one of the best things I remember from my childhood. Even had the toys.
Mate, I was constructed in 1994 - my younger brother (born 1997) still had the toys :)
Think we were raised well.
Also think that our father was born in 1966.
So... F-A-B! Godspeed! And - SERVARE VITAS - TO SAVE LIVES!
@@DGARedRaven Awesome. The legacy continues :)
You know your parents raised you well if you're from the 1960s and watched this series as a kid when it first aired!!
I was born in 1964 and grew up with all of the Gerry Anderson TV series, but Thunderbirds has always been my #1 favourite.
The characters were great, the voices were excellent, the plots were rather adult and the Thunderbird craft were simple inspiring.
First class!
Born in 1997 in the states. Watched this show like it was a drug. Still love it today. In fact I thought of a scene and found myself watching the whole episode 😄
Cool 😊
I was born in 1961 in the States. I don't recall ever seeing this as a child. I recently stumbled across it by accident, and I've been binge watching it for days 🤣
@Bob Schmidt Yep. Same thing happened to me. I watched one and decided I just had to watch them all. I only wish they made more seasons.
I still remember watching the 2004 movie when my dad told me; 'you know, this is based on a tv show that I saw when I was about your age' (6/7 years old)
The same Christmas we found a dvd box with all of the seasons and extra's and me and my two brothers were amazed despite the fact it was almost 40 years old.
Now I'm 23 but this intro always stuck with me and I would happily rewatch it all again.
So cheers to one of most entertaining series and epic intro's ever!
All Scott ever seemed to do was get there first and tell people, “Everything is going to be alright, Thunderbird 2 will be here any minute.”
Not far off.
If I recall correctly, Scott's job as T-1 pilot and first on the scene was to be the situation assessor and work out what gear T-2 needed in its pod for Rescuing, alongside reassurance.
That's usually the role of a first responder.
All first responders do that. Hop in the fastest vehicle, get to the scene ASAP, assess the situation, keep the riffraff away, radio the base and tell them what personnel and equipment to bring, liaise with local authorities, triage, first aid, and reassure the victims, and tell the media to f off. Very important job.
Scott acted as coordinator.
Scott was the team leader and assessor. Gets there fast to determine which pod and vehicles will be needed and is there to provide aid with Thunderbird 2's machines.
The real John Tracy approves of this.

When you were a kid you couldn't stop your mind being blown with such dramatic intro
I grew up with Thunderbirds in the 90s. Still love it. I got a Gerry Anderson autograph with Thunderbirds 2 .. Will keep it forever
The intro when the music starts with the string section is sheer genius, listen to it carefully a few times and all day it will be going round in your head,i`m 58 and have never forgotten how fantastic this program was, when you see some of the crap on telly now,you just have to salute the true genius and effort and imagination that went into programs like this.
That music during the episode previews is the most dramatic action music ever. This opening and the one in UFO are genius! Here in America, I lived in 60's British television.
The great thing about Gerry Anderson was his ability to think like a kid.
My dad watched Thunderbirds when it first aired and decades later he introduced me to it and I loved it
My favorite opening title of any TV show ever. I’ve got the Thunderbirds soundtrack and listen to it whenever I need inspiration. It took me a while to figure out that something was missing from the opening theme. It dawned on me a few years back that it’s the classic ITV music just before 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.
There's only a handful of television themes, and this one will always be NUMBER 1
Thunderbirds are way ahead of it's time & will be for many years to come.
Simply one of the Greatest Television shows ever made...
I agree. It still holds up well.
We seriously need an organization like international rescue in this day and age, especially the way things are going
There is no greater tv show than this.
my grandfather showed me this in the 90s
I grew up with Anderson shows. The music from this still puts a smile on my face.
Every studio wants a shared universe, this could be epic. Can you inagine the Mysterons critically damaging cloud base and its going to smash into London. Only IR can save the day
Amazing models CGI free!!! The detail attention its superb. Great show and lovely music score.
Are GO!!!!

Thunderbird No. 3 was and still is love at first sight.
Hands down, my favorite of the Birds. 🚀
Wow! I played this up loud! Thanks for posting a high quality version of this awesome opening theme of Thunderbirds. Many childhood memories growing up in the 60s and 70s watching this show in Australia! Thunderbirds Are Go!!!
I saw this back in the 1960s. Fantastic show! Has anyone noticed that the main characters were named after five of the seven Mercury astronauts?
One of my favorite shows when I was a kid!
A more exciting children's show was never produced. Fond memories. Thanks for posting.
Especially the first 35 seconds i can listen on repeat
For a 6 year old boy, this was the coolest show ever
And now for plenty of 66 year old boys (and girls)!
Unquestionably the most sophisticated show I remember on TV at that time--except maybe for Stingray
Those days of using cassette taps of the Thunderbirds were nostalgia watching them as of now. What a way to reminisce the show.
This show is currently airing on early Sunday Mornings on MeTV in my area. Starting on June 26, 2024, the show will be airing on MeTV Toons, while still being rerunning on MeTV during the same time.
We watched that Saturday night after dinner. Black & white TV. What a show for a young kid.
The best TV serie for me !
Thunderbirds forever !
The musical stinger between each number during the countdown still raises the hair on the back of my neck.
Absolutely delightful, series left an indelible memory.
One of the best shows a kid ever saw on TV at the time.
And it still packs a wallop! 🚀
So ahead of it's time. A peek into the future. Loved this when I was a kid
Even today it's the future. Gerry Anderson was a visionairy
This show was already 25 years old when i saw it for the first time but i loved it from the very first moment.
Such a classic series.
Breaks my heart to see those gorgeous models get blown up. Then again, what a way to go!
60s and 70s show intros were incredible.
Thunderbirds was the fucking shit for decades. I remember getting toys of this in the 90's. Try pulling that off these days. You think people 30 years from now are still gonna be buying Paw Patrol merch?
Not in a million years
Still get pumped watching these credits
Stingray and Thunderbirds; firmly engrained in my childhood memories…….. forever
Awesome show!!!!! I brings me to my childhood... I was waiting every Sunday at 16:00....to see this show....
I was born in 1990, but in 1994-ish something, they showed the Thunderbirds( in the Netherlands), so my dad and I share the same feelings about this show, I guess it worked out because the date of air skipped just one generation (in our case at least) :)
Lots of precious memories!

I still in love with Thunderbirds!!!
30 now, but back in the 1990's when I was a kid, this was the one episode " Security Hazard " I used to watch over and over, so much infact I wore the vhs out. Good memories
Got the complete series for my bday last year from my brother and I'm eternally thankful! As a kid, I enjoyed the stories, as an adult, I also am stunned how much love and determination was put into the details of models and sets and how much the overall film direction was on par with live action shows.
I bet this came on Associated Television when it originally ran.
As I understand it, composer Barry Gray retired to one of the Channel Islands.
There, for the sake of keeping his fingers in trim, he played cocktail piano, one night a week, at a top hotel. Imagine being able to wander in to the cocktail bar at the Hotel Splendide, Gurnsey, and have a chat with the composer of the Thunderbirds March and, if you drop a suitable tip into the balloon glass on the piano, he'd actually play it for you.
One of the best stirring Elgar marches that Elgar didn't write.
I recommend this TV show especially for young children. I wanted to be an astronaut when I was a child. I watched many shows about NASA when I was young.
素晴らしい主題歌です!
Looks so good in HD !!

Early Saturday mornings was Kids tv time back in the 70's .Dedicated amusement and time for Couple hours of cartoons and Thunderbirds to watch while having ya bowl of Rice Bubbles. Kept Mum happy while she did the Laundry
I first watched it when it was shown on BBC in the early 90s. I had the comic with the brilliant cutaway drawings as well and was one of the lucky ones who got Tracy Island for Christmas. My Dinky Starship Enterprise often had to rescue Thunderbird 3 though. Good times.

I'm only familiar with the Thunderbird movies and not the show all that much. However I really love Captain Scarlett and the Mysterons. That's an awesome show.

I miss shows like this one.
BEST SHOW EVER
Many years ago when I used Mozilla Thunderbird, I noticed that their developers put the tagline “Thunderbirds are go!” in its about dialog box. Thought it was just some random thing they threw in until I happened, by chance, to catch this show on TV here in Singapore. The moment I heard the narrator say “Thunderbirds are go”, I immediately realised what Mozilla Thunderbird’s developers were really referring to back there. :p
