- This is another video where it's like a "duh? who doesn't know how to do this?". Actually a few including residents, medical students, PA students don't know how to remove dirty gowns and gloves. You'd be surprised that some doctors don't do it right.
⚕
School teaches you to take everything off along with the gown. While that's a great technique, I think I have a better one which I do MOST of the time.
◽PRE SURGERY:
This is a technique that is being taught in schools.
◽POST SURGERY:
This is my technique. The reason why I don't take off my gloves along with my gown is because I want to use my gloves to take off my dirty boots which are always filthy. I do mostly colon cases so you already know what that means.
ALWAYS WASH YOUR HANDS EVERY POST SURGERY. Even though you scrubbed and all, please practice good hand hygiene. Don't be nastehhh...

Goodluck future CST!
Any chance a Cath Lab Tech can cross over into the OR and learn on the job? Most of our techniques look similar except we don’t use too many surgical instruments except in pacemakers.
Can you do a video on capping & recapping needles with tips & tricks?
Absolutely!!!
You never recap needles no?
Do you have to buy your own scrubs?
Yes. But some facilities have disposables.
Hello! Can you do a video of double gloving technique? :)
I think I already have video :)
I was taught to take off your top glove, pull the gown forward like you did but then roll the gown away from you.
Yes, that's just like what I did in the pre surgery demo. I still do that but I just don't take the glove off with the gown anymore. I use it to take off my boots.
Hey, I'm Ariel. What if I'm failing I'm the surgical tech program cuz I'm in Gulfport, Mississippi. I'm going to get my "Associates of Applied Science" Degree. That's two years. Why is my major "Pre- Surgical Tech nology". I don't trust my parents cuz they took my money and never give it back and they had me walking down the street in the rain. I could have got killed. Do you think I can wear "Blazing Burgundy" hair color I'm "surgical tech" school.
I think it depends on your school dress code and professional code of conduct. I'm sure the school would allow it but definitely not in clinicals or OR. At least in our ORs it's not allowed unless you wear your hat and we never ever see it. I'm speaking with just my knowledge based on our facilities and may vary by hospitals. You just have to pick your priorities. I hope that helps.
Why don't you upload the pre-operative and post-operative care videos?
I request you to upload those videos too.🤠
I have plenty of pre operatives. It's basically just opening supplies. Post op is basically just a dirty bloody OR.
@@SURGICALTECHGEEK for how long the patient is allowed to sit in oR post-surgery and after surgery what is the role of surgical technologist to the patient?
I rip all the knots, if I can it’s all one motion
Lol k well when I do that, the whole thing rips in pieces.
