Today, I'm excited to show you how to assemble a set of bagpipes from scratch. I'll guide you step-by-step through the entire process, from unboxing all the different parts to having your pipes ready to play. With over 30 years of experience as a piper and bagpipe teacher, I’ll share my knowledge of the components, tools, and special tricks that I use to build my own pipes.
In this video, you'll see every single step, including tying on the pipe bag, installing the water trap and moisture control system, the blowpipe and valve, and setting the perfect angle blowpipe positioner. I'll also show you how to install your drone cords for a perfect fit and discuss the advantages of different materials like hemp, dental floss, and wax nylon.
In the second part, we'll cover threading your drone reeds seats so they never fall out, installing a new set of drone reeds, setting up the pipe chanter, and selecting pipe chanter reeds. Finally, I'll reveal the secrets for oiling your pipes and provide links for all the supplies and tools I use, so you can get everything you need to assemble your pipes perfectly.
