How to Use a Chronograph Watch

  • While a chronograph may look complicated, it’s essentially a stop watch you can master in a few easy steps.
The first thing you may notice is the second hand on the dial isn’t moving. This hand is dedicated to measuring seconds for the chronograph function. The other two sub dials are used for measuring time within the chronograph function.
To operate the chronograph watch, you’ll use the buttons above and below the crown called “pushers.” To start the chronograph, press the top pusher. The chronograph’s second hand will start to move. While the chronograph is running, use the bottom pusher to take a split time. The chronograph is keeping time in the background with the hands paused so you can read the elapsed time. Press the bottom pusher again and hands will catch up to the time kept internally.
To stop the chronograph watch, press the top pusher. You can reset your chronograph watch by pressing the bottom pusher while the chronograph is stopped. All three chronograph hands will return to their starting position.

I know this. My question is in a few watches especially fake watches the main sweeping second hand can’t be stopped at 12 position and you use the small second hand which can be stopped to read your seconds but no 1/10 of a second dial. Are all these fake chronograph watches or are they are just watches with functioning sub dials. After all most don’t really use or know how to use the sub dials.
