- THE GENIUS OF KENDRICK LAMAR: 6:16 In LA
Kendrick Lamar has responded with a psychological, poetic, and vicious breakdown of Drakes character with "6:16 In LA", but aside from the rap battle itself, this record is a piece of art. A true demonstration of of the art of rap. Check out my breakdown of 6:16 In LA and let me know what you think in the comments.
****RECORDED BEFORE THE MADNESS HAPPENED WITH FAMILY MATTERS AND MEET THE GRAHAMS. VIDEO ON THAT COMING SOON.

“The mannerisms of Raphael, I can heal and give you art
But the industry's cooked as I pick the carcass apart”
That line live in my head rent free.
Incredible lyric
The first half of 6:16 is the best rapping we’ve heard all year and it isn’t close. I get emotional hearing his conversation with god because we’ve all been in a predicament where you know you may need to take things to a place where it might contradict who you are at your core. Beautiful verse
100. I think Cole verse on Pi may be verse of the year for me so far, but as a song overall, 6:16 is brilliant man.
I just realized that Kendrick Lamar was using all of his 4 Alter Egos on his 4 Drake Diss Records Kendrick Lamar is a Genius. Kung Fu Kenny Song Euphoria. K-Dot Song 6:16 in LA. Mr Morale Song Meet The Grahams and Kendrick Lamar Song Not Like Us. 🤯👑♊️🎭😇😈❤️💯🎯 TEAM GEMINI for me. 😎
I’d argue that K-dot was not like us
And Kendrick Lamar was euphoria.
Simply because not like us was a LA bop and he was rapping in that LA style like getting back to his roots. But I can get on board with your view as well
That’s a really interesting take! The only other reference I’ve seen to the different styles Kendrick uses in Euphoria, was from F.D. Signifier, who said the first part was imitating Drake’s style, the second part was imitating J. Cole’s style, and the last part is Kendrick himself
We didn’t get corn roll Kenny
Kendrick has so many alter ego

Kendrick Lamar

King kunta

“I live circadian rhythms of a shooting star”
Bar of the year!
The line about the shooting star means that he only comes around every so often. Comets that pass by earth do so only after many years. Every 10,20 or 30 years and when they do it’s always an “event” to witness. Kendrick is saying him dropping an album is the same way.
Best diss so far was Euphoria!!!! The complexity of the bars, the messages behind and within the music, the fun of it, creativity, REAL lyricism, and straight up smoking Drake’s total character and existence makes it the best. Not to mention he’s calling him to be a better man, that stands for everything!
He killed that!
💯 From the beginning to end it’s gets better and better every time I hear it. Pure skill and revolutionary rapping style!!!
He addressed everything, was so satisfying
Euphoria - Best diss
Not Like Us - Best song
Not fkn doubts about it
6:16 Is the deepest song to me especially the 1st half. I get emotional and dont know why
Real art right there
this is my joint! ☺️
I really thought it was me alone but this is amazing shits
I've gone back and chilled out listening to 6:16
Lord, my confession is yours, but who am I if I don't go to war,
The way he said this, and what came later makes you realize he was pleading with Drake not to make him a murderer
Meet the Graham's close the show , not like us was the victory anthem
King Kunta… Black man taking no losses!!!
6:16 in LA not being on DSPs is weird, but it’s been my personal favorite song, even though Euphoria was probably best lyrically, and Not Like Us is a certified banger. But for real, people keep forgetting about 6:16 and I can’t help but think it sounds like a RZA/Wu-Tang song if they were from the West Coast lol
Man Sounwave killed that beat! 6:16 In LA is still my favourite man. I could see that being on an album foreal. I’m thinking the reason it’s not out on DSP’s is probably a sample clearance issue. I can imagine Al Green samples being difficult to clear and/or be pricey!
i need this song on DSPs butnthe samples are for trolling so theyre not gonna bother to clear them sadly
Kendrick is an ARTist ⚡⚡
He went back to back twice on drake
He really did.
Drake was battling the internet 🛜 Kendrick was battling Drake make.
True. They were playing two completely different games the entire time.
This is my favorite song from this battle. It’s so layered. And it’s just him displaying his skill over a dope beat. Pure hip hop.
Couldnt agree more
I’m so with you on your love for this song. This is my personal favorite. I’m an old head.. I love the soulful pure emcee hip hop shit.. I’ll still bust a move to they not like us tho
Need this on streaming asap
6:16 is a reminder to us. We can be good in the face of hard things. Beautiful record
I LOVE THIS! ❤
PUT YOUR LIGHTERS UP FOR KING KENDRICK LAMAR! 🤴🏾
June 16th is Father’s Day in America too
This comment is just to support your content. Hope you make it big cuz!
Ah man, thank you so much bro. That really means a lot. Just getting started!
“I live in the Circadian Rhythms of a shooting star”…he meant y’all be sleeping on me when I be gone a while, but I’m a star everytime I come out…you could even twist it to get he bout to put a star to sleep 😴
Good shit. This is really focusing on the art of hip hop and not just the superficial feeling of who’s winning in this moment. There’s more to hip hop than just album sales. If anything, album sales to the masses is the antithesis of hip hop
Thank you bro. 100%
Just noticed Jack Dorcey shared a post from kendrick talking about his Toronto show on June 16, 2011 too.
Crazy. I bet Kendrick has like 10 more connections we haven’t caught yet for that date lol!
This is the first video I’ve seen breaking down “6:16 in LA.” I really like what you had to say and your approach to the song within the drama that surrounds it. I realize you probably wanted to get this out while it was still recent (or at least before Drake responded), but I really hoped you would dig some more into the lyrics. There were a few aspects of the song you brought up that I thought you could have talked about more or brought up specific examples of in the lyrics. I hope this doesn’t come across as too harsh. I think the analysis you show is really good and I think you can only go up from here :D
Thank you so much for the feedback! Not harsh at all. It seems some of y’all want more lyrical analysis and I’m all for that. I’m thinking of different ideas for content. I would like to do some breakdowns of some of my fave classic albums. Maybe I’ll do some videos for specific songs like how I did 6:16 In La, and I’ll go more in depth with the lyrics.
Thank you for watching the video and giving positive feedback. Definitely more on the way!
He really is though. He took the time off to observe and he sees that under drakes leadership the genre ain’t going nowhere but a dark and toxic place. Kendrick brought back into reality the beauty of Art imitating life and not the other way around. I see Kendrick with God light and Drake as the opposite of that
He went back to back, back to back.
He really did.
What a breakdown. Keep up the work!
Thank you brother
READY FOR THE MEET THE GRAHAMS VID‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
On the way!!!
Bro change the battery in your smoke alarm. Do that for the culture!
😂 it’s getting changed today. I got you.
Love this
Low key a great records. Very underrated.
Drake got bodied by song titles and cover art ALONE‼️
This song is crazy. Drakes dad or uncle played one of the background instruments on that Marvin Gaye sample….
he too strategically advanced for Drake. He literally is using the culture Drake tries to be apart of as the weapon against him. just 🔥
the design process behind this video is iconic!
Thank you! I’m trying to improve a bit every video. Still a long way to go until I’m super happy with it aesthetically.
Found a new channel great video.
Thank you man!
Simple breakdown and a chill vibe. Nice to see a take that isn't all hype! What track is playing in the background?
Thank you man. I really appreciate that comment. Thats the vibe I’m trying to go for.
I posted a remix to J. Coles Crocodile Tearz on my other channel, and that was the beat I made for it. All the music in my videos are beats I produced.
I’m mad this song out of all of them isn’t on Apple Music
Word. Me too man.
people slept on this record
NEED this on dsp’s bro
You’re almost there bro. Keep looking into those lines. The white boy asked for Quintuples
Yall should listen to prayers. Great song as well
OMG please. A worthy segue from 6:16
Kdot the Gemini 🖤🖤
The glove is not about OJ but everything else I could ride with. 😂
This song has been slept on, I love it, to be honest I can’t pick between the four
Thank you for being honest and not defending the 69 God bbl drizzy he obviously a snake behind the scenes and it's finally coming out
Which diss is the best in your opinion so far?
June 16. Day of the African child ..apartheid South africa
Euphoria
@@neyo10kendrick lamar 6:16 in Lamar
Rick Ross is gonna be on the remix when it hits Apple imo
Bro, I would be dying laughing lol!
What’s the background music?
Beat that I made. I post em on my other channel @arkai.
@@nusoull bet, you talented brother 🤝🏾
Salute bro! 🫡
2nd best next to euphoria
You dont think he is an amazing lyricist because of anything but the fact that he is not direct, he keeps you thinking "what do you mean by that" but because you are already think he is genius you think deep about everything he says. The genius is in the title the rest is good rapping that didnt hurt Drake. Been a Dot fan for years, lyrically i was disappointed with pen but i'm glad everyone made him win this battle.
Nah man. Kendrick is an amazing lyricist and he showed out on each diss in a multitude of ways.
@@nusoull You guys keep saying that, but where’s this amazing lyricism you guys keep talking about? What are your top 5 schemes that showcasing his lyricism in this battle?
@@mashi_rsa listen to Rigamortis, Ignorance Is Bliss, The Heart Part 5, Look Out For Detox, FEAR.
@@nusoull I’m specifically talking about this beef. I’m a huge Dot fan, I know all these songs and all of his albums, even his terrible mixtapes 😂
@@mashi_rsa I literally quoted him in the video. Hey man, if you don’t hear it that way, I’m not going to try and convince you. I’m just sharing my opinion. And to me, 6:16 is brilliant as a stand alone record diss track or not.
Why would Rick Ross write on back 2 back
No clue. A lot of speculation right now. Daylyt allegedly as well.
“Your best work is a light / lyt pack.”
Xxx Death
I’ll say this though Kendrick won but Drake uses multiple syllables Kendrick use a lot of single syllables which is weird kinda a lower lever form of rapping
Fuck syllables. That mother fucker rapper Cassidy talk the whole day about syllables. Kendrick him self is syllable! Simple as that.
Interesting observation, but in my opinion big words don’t = better results. Smaller words can pack just as hard a punch
Also I just had this thought. If we go with the idea that Kendrick looks down on Drake or thinks he’s immature then maybe he’s using smaller words to make it “easier” for Drake to understand. Maybe this is a stretch, but I wouldn’t be surprised if this was the case
What lol
What he is trying to say is drake got ghost writers 😂
This guy did a whole lotta yappin lol God dam it was a great song but this video was a waste of 7 minutes of my life
Do us both a favour then,
next time,
don’t watch.
Also that sample is from Al Green, he was born in Michigan, with an area code of 616. My God, what a work of art. 🫴🏽🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Edit: did some research, he wasn't born in Michigan, he was raised there, but as a teenager he fell out with his family and ended up with a prostitute.. man Kendrick that was clever of ya.
Whaaattt thats insane!!
For me the as a song alone is the best of the bunch in the diss
100% agree
Good analysis bro! I hadnt seen any breakdowns of 6:16 until now and it was pretty good. Ill give you a follow just to see more breakdowns going forward. 🫡
Thank you bro! Just posted a new one about the Drake leaks.
