  • REALLY excited to finally get this, 9 months later! Not only is the cabinet exceptionally rare, this is a piece straight out of the Kawasaki Warehouse arcade that closed down last year! I am extremely honored to be able to acquire a piece of this historic arcade.
    As far as I know, this is only the 2nd HELLO! Pop'n Music in NA. There was a US location test of the game that bombed badly; it was a ticket redemption game with fewer/shorter tracks, single difficulty, and no eAmuse. That is either destroyed or rotting in a warehouse now.
    The game itself is a much simplified Pop'n Music with 4 buttons arrayed horizontally. There are "long" notes which need to be tapped multiple times, and charged notes that I think have to be hit at least 2-3 of the 4? These would generate a ticket bonus in the US version of the game. Nothing is hard enough for a seasoned player to do, can easily full combo every chart.

    I was randomly looking through some old photo recently and was reminded that I was fortunate (unfortunate?) enough to try out the US location test of this game at Puente Hills Round 1 back in December 2009. It was one of the first, if not first Round 1s in America and it was my very first time in a Round 1. Sadly, I didn't realize how important documenting it was so I only have a few pictures of the machine and a very short video clip. I was only there visiting family too lol.
    Glad you were able to get a hold of this machine! It's a really nice looking machine. It's too bad it's.......too easy and limited.

      Its moderately different than the US cab, and afaik has more features online. I haven't gotten to try that yet, though.

    an arcade nearby has one of these. It's hilarious how many of that arcades regulars thought for the longest time that this was the normal, official popn music. When I mentioned how difficult Popn can get they looked at me like I was crazy.

      @@GameSaruhey, maybe weird of me to comment on this video so late- i used to love playing this machine in vancouver until i moved away, but i’ve moved back and i don’t think it’s there anymore-is it possible to track it down? i never realized it was a rarity!

    • @GameSaru
      @GameSaru  Před 2 měsíci

      Yeah these are super rare. It wasn't something really produced in large quantity as a main-line game, just a spin-off. I don't remember where the one up there went. They come up once in a blue moon for import, but they're pretty damn unheard of

      @@rhi9272 There is still a mainline Pop'n cab at eSpot in Richmond. I have no clue where the Hello Pop'n went but could probably find out, although it definitely isn't publicly playable in Van anywhere. Probably sold to an individual.

    I still feel like this had potential to make Pop'n Music a difficult 4 key. I honestly just want to see the series take on this style again. It works so well with the character designs.

      Preservation is my goal. Pop’n is just even more of a priority for me, I love the game too much, to the point of designing my event banners around it

    My arcade has a really weird version of this game.. Its so similar to this game and I couldn't find it anywhere on the internet.. So the game is the same, with different songs and less characters.There are only 2 difficulties to choose from (Easy and Hard). The game is just called Pop'n Music. The cabinet is also almost the same as this one, but instead of saying Hello Pop'n Music it just says Pop'n Music. If anybody knows anything about this, please tell me!! I'll try to take a lot of pictures next time I go to my arcade and post them somewhere!
    (Ok I found a few more differences, so the clear bar is a ticker bar and some of the art on the cabinet is different but very similar.)

      @@GameSaru It does have a ticket dispenser, but I dont live in the US. I live in Cyprus, an island in Europe. But that doesn't really change anything, its not like they couldn't buy the US version because they dont live in the US..
