When I saw it I got scared that this is going to be a bonus filler episode with no plot. Then I thought they made a musical episode and got both mad and happy. Then I saw Dan and completely lost it. Then the episode went as if nothing happened and I still have no idea what I saw here.
He just realised that he wants to stop hating himself last episode, and pretty much overcame a lot of his self loathing. He feels good about life, so much so that his morning routine and trip to work feels like a dance sequence to him, but it's figurative. It never happened, only maybe in his head

This put the biggest bloody smile on my face it is a perfect recreation of what I was doing when I heard the show was saved, well not really I'm a terrible dancer but in my head it was exactly like this.
They actually filmed a take where Dan would suddenly drop from the ceiling after Lucifer leaves the precinct, but unfortunately they deleted it completely because they thought it was a bit too much 😂
I absolutely loved this scene. Break out into dance for no apparent reason. Dan's jump a la Dirty Dancing was so fun and unexpected. So many tight moments, the girls on the bartop, the slide down the stairs, the arch of police, Ella's spin, so much goodness within only a few short minutes. I can watch this scene on an endless loop and smile all day.
Please go watch Glee or something like that then. This is a Netflix show so I don't want to see them waste one of the already limited amount of episodes on a cheesy musical. This scene was funny because of the Dan part, and acceptable because it was so short, but they should just leave it at that and continue making excellent stories instead of ruining immersion with 50 minutes of singing and dancing with some corny "hypnotized/dream" type of plot.
Since Lucifer season 4 is Netflix most binged we will so be getting another season and probably more. Because it would be there biggest mistake since cancelling daredevil.
The decision to only do 1 season wasn't Netflix's so much as the show runners themselves IIRC. They even explicitly said that, if they were being honest, they only thought they had 6 possible good seasons plot-wise. They wanted to end on a high note, which I understand. 9/10 when shows drag on, the quality goes down.
