- Fran's mom wants her favorite cantor to return to the temple after he lands the lead role in Maxwell's play.
From Season 3 Episode 23, 'The Cantor Show'. Fran meets the new cantor at her temple and they start dating! He has an amazing singing voice and Fran suggests that he should audition for Maxwell's next show. Whilst at Sylvia's, he announces that he has decided to leave the temple to pursue a career on Broadway!

Sylvia looked gorgeous in that black and white dress with red scarf. I loved that outfit.
I love the small details of fran and sylvia's relationship. Like the argyle fran is wearing while sylvia wears gingham. They are still coordinating by color but not the same pattern which shows that they're not at the same page. Meanwhile at the end when fran realizes her mother was right, she's wearing gingham as well.

I needed a big laugh and I got one from this clip! With that almond extract comment, it reminds me of so many Sylvia-isms, like when Fran was pouring her heart out about getting rejected by Maxwell's rich friends at a dinner party. All Sylvia could say was: "What did they serve?" And just when you thought Fran was upset about her mom not paying attention, she said, "Medallions of beef and a so-so béarnaise." Loved this show for its realism, and not just for Jewish families, but MANY different ethnicities. Mothers like that are EVERYWHERE and we thank God for them, because, in the end, they do love their kids, they're just loud and obnoxious about it! 🤣
It's funny when I was young, I want to be Fran. Still want to be Fran with her sass and style. But I realised I'm more like CC. Then I saw Sylvia and realised, 20 more years and I'll be HER!
I like CC a lot. She is gorgeous, has a great sense of style, she is educated, smart, and yet nobody likes her. I know her personality is not the best, but it s funny how nobody would date her, ever. She didnt have friends either. But this also happens in real life.

As the seasons went by Brighton became more and more irrelevant...
Same with the other two. Every now and then the kids had special episodes focusing on them. But not the same amount as in seasons 1 & 2
@@timchen1 that's because 1) kids getting older, and 2) focus of the show changed to relationship between Fran and Maxwell. First 2 seasons was really about nanny and kids, taking care and giving advices to them, but lately, when the kids get teen age, they don't need it from episode to episode.
There was a good character progression to Maggie and Gracy but it's the opposite when it comes to Brighton. He went from a rambunctious bad boy to a full blown geek. It's kinda sad to see how they wrote his character really.
They came back to prominence in the last season when they focused on what the kids would do after the show. Maggie got married, Gracie was looking at colleges and Brighton took a gap year. But as the kids got older the didn't need her help.

@@stevarino1989 Haha! I think that happened in the later seasons. I read that during the earlier seasons that not only did she eat during filming, she also ate during rehearsals and the producers were like: "No one said you needed to eat during rehearsals!"

I loved this episode but it’s not realistic Gary would not have signed his contract before word got out he’s in the show.
In retrospect it might not have been God helping Syliva put the whammy on them but Sarah.
If this Gary nonsense had continued it would have messed up her whole plan.

I didn't like that Gary guy from the start. And he doesn't even sing that well, so I'm not sure why they chose him for this part.
