    I like matching fishing gear as well Mr. Matt. Great review, and thanks for the honest opinion.

      Being honest is paramount to me. Although I have aways liked Garcia fishing equipment,their outsourcing of all their low profile reels and rods to china has really affected their quality.
      The round reels (like the 3000 C) are still made in Sweden however, and are absolute top-notch.

    Abu garcia has been good to me. I cut my teeth on the Blackmax and I was a big fan of the silver max. Im a budget fisherman and lews is offering a better deal to similar quality per dollar. I do like the abu reels better but not finding much difference in the rods. My oldest uses the vengeance rod 7' and I like the way it feels.

      I use three SilverMax combos. One for pitching jigs, and the other two for catfishing.

    They have a black version called the tournament edition. It is more sensitive and stronger

      Yep. I have a few tournament edition rods. The TE rods are also lighter. They're the backbone of my bass combo collection bc they're an awesome value for the money.

    I just picked up a 722 ul today in the 4.0.
    The 3.0 is a wicked rod ive got it paired with a abu mg xtreme.
    As for the tip guides you cant blame abu garcia they are a fuji product.
    All they do is put it together.

    • @TheAverageFisherman99
      @TheAverageFisherman99  Před 2 lety +1

      That is true, however, if there are a lot of failures, they should switch OEM guides.
      I'm looking forward to the new fantasista x rods coming out soon

      Let us know how the new rod goes.
      Fuji should do thier job properly and take care of QA.Abu had heaps of issues with the first gen Veritas tip
      issues.
      I have about 4 Phenix rods that had tip issues the rods are amazing tip guides are rubbish but i continue to change them lol.
      Me included but the worked through them.The new gen 4 is a beast.
      The fantasia looks the goods cant wait to see one aswell but here in Australia you dont see many

    I have the same exact veritas spinning rod as you. When my line is completely strung out. Holding the tag end line in my hand and pull the rod as if I'm setting the hook. The line gets caught onto the top guide's frame. usually happens with fluorocarbon or mono line. Does this also happen with your rod?

    • @TheAverageFisherman99
      @TheAverageFisherman99  Před rokem +1

      Not that I can recall off the top of my head. It DID happen with my TE rod, but it was a user error issue that I've since worked out.

    Is the veritas good for a beginner(ish) like me, and is it durable too? These are really all my questions because I really want to save up for this rod, all I have to ask for the type of rod is: should I get a 2 piece for ease of transport, or 1 piece? I could wrap some tape on the rod insert on the 2 piece so it doesn’t fall out.

    • @TheAverageFisherman99
      @TheAverageFisherman99  Před 8 dny +1

      Yes, but the white foam gets super dirty looking

      @@TheAverageFisherman99 okay, I think the one I’m getting has a black handle because it’s a 2024. It’s the medium heavy 6’6” 2 piece, I’m going to get the 2 piece for easy travel. It’s not the ltd, tounement, or winch because they don’t have 2 pieces. Anyway, thank you for the feedback :)
