New Old Stock? Never seen one like the one in this vid, Liked vid Very unusual receiver, I miss alot of the older receivers, the Audio equipment nowadays has no soul
@@FluxCondenser I'd have to look up that info, which would be cheating a little. Okay, I looked it up: the B.A.D. band, the particular album's title was a cheeky little dig at the British PM's address. The song also was in the movie Soundtrack: "Flashback." I should get extra points for that bit of trivia. :-)
Hello my friend...I am looking for several years too buy this "machine " and still have the original folder...is it possible too buy this from you?...I live in the Netherlands.
Ries, thanks for your interest, but the great majority of the components I repair on my channel are for my own personal collection and are not for sale. I wish you great luck finding a KR-6170 of your own. They do come up occasionally on eBay. Take care.
Would be interested to see if the “drum machine” board has markings from another manufacturer or if Kenwood developed that circuit themselves. Probably would have been cheaper to just license something from one of the organ manufacturers of the day.
Schematic for the drum machine is in the service manual. It has 5 sounds: Bass Drum, Conga, Claves, HiHat and "SD" (Snare Drum?). Programming is accomplished via a diode matrix. All analog. No TTL or CMOS ICs! Sound generation is via simple LRC circuits and (what looks like) some white noise generation and shaping.
Yes, SD is snare drum. The board appears to be similarly styled and marked as the others, so I believe it’s a Kenwood. Yeah, this thing isn’t discreet on the outside, but it’s discrete on the inside.
Yeah, there's a switch for FM muting and that's the one I keep selecting and unselecting in the video. Still nothing. Off-video I was able to briefly hear the FM for a second or two, but it abruptly shut off, never to return.

Your methodical approach is equalled by few and surpassed by none.
Wow, now that’s quite the compliment. Thanks, Don.
Damn this looks sick
It is, but I’ll fix it (hopefully) ;-)
Nice receiver
Its a time capsule. So cool.
I wish I knew half the stuff you know about electronics! lol
Thanks, Pablo. Stay tuned, hopefully I can get the FM working on this thing.
can i have links to make that bulb tester?
Dave, yes, I have a video on that. Here you go: czcams.com/video/6SXPj6HFY-Y/video.html
That *was* the name of the song. Service manual is on HiFi Engine.
I believe I asked, “where the song’s from” (band, album), not song name. Yup, got the service manual.

Is there a FM stereo muting circuit sir? I’ve spent and embarrassing amount of time t-shooting no FM only to find I had FM muting on! DOH
Ha! Yes there is, Bob. That’s the button I keep turning on and off when I was trying the FM. Doesn’t seem to be the issue. Stay tuned.

Is there an FM muting control that is activated?
Yeah, there's a switch for FM muting and that's the one I keep selecting and unselecting in the video. Still nothing. Off-video I was able to briefly hear the FM for a second or two, but it abruptly shut off, never to return.
If I purchased one of these would you be interested in repairing it ?
I’m sorry, I don’t do repairs for the public. I wish you luck if you can find someone,.
Bom dia campeão poderia esplicar em português por favor.
Pick me!
