Neko Case is one of the greatest songwriters of her generation. Her music is world-weary, sad and painfully honest, but it’s gorgeous too. Mortality is her milieu. She speaks directly about life’s disappointments and uncertainties but makes them more palatable by shrouding them in a shimmery gauze. Her poetry will kill me eventually but it tastes so good going down. Maybe just one more?

I first heard this song in the autumn of 2006, and IMMEDIATELY was blown away.
The power of her voice, on the recording, is reminiscent of greats like Patsy Cline ... and that's not an overstatement, at all.
This is one of those songs that you wish lasted longer.

A lot of her songs are short (by conventional standards). I wish some of them were longer as well but I think she says what the song requires and then it over. How many dull songs are stretched out with la la las and pointless guitar solos?

She is a super star. On Austin City Limits often, written about all the time, many successful albums. She is just firmly 'alt' and so be it. I think she is fine with where she lives in the fame spectrum.

The vocal qualities on this track are just AMAZING!
It achieves an air and harmony seldom captured inside or outside a studio.
Very few other vocalists achieve such a sustained pure tone without the vibrato crutch. Reba is one who comes to mind with "You Lie."
