Brilliant piece of songwriting. Gestural yet explicit, details loaded with intuitive associations. "My nightgown sweeps the pavement" gives you setting, time of day, narrator's character and emotional state, in a "zoom out" ending to the story, all in five words.

The lyrics to this song are an absorbing story in and of themselves - certainly they're better with the accompaniment. Who'd a thunk it? Great story-telling in music. This is a far cry from the commercial garbage we're bombarded with as though sheer repetition would encourage consumption of such vapid bullshit. I'll listen to artists like this before I consume such superficial rubbish that's being pushed on us.
