@@Xallisto1 no, listen carefully. Its like : snare kick snare kick kick kick kick-snare kick-snare snare kick. Listen the "Le Perv" track amd focus on the drums
@@WolfpackOne Indeed! He uses the 707 toms as a signature, and the kick attack and snare from the 707 as guides to make his drums. But he has a very specific way of drum sound design which directly derived from his metal engineering background/his own analyses of Justice's song in the Cross album (kind of the same way, sick drums). Pre-drums, a mix bus that makes it sound so shiny by adding extra high end, compress the whole song to get them popping out, and there you have your Carpenter Brut drums. Generally what we can recognize that is from Carpenter Brut (well not in his latest songs) is this "whip" that he does by having some top end noise coming milliseconds after the snare transient, the punchiness and the pre-drums.
Yeah, this music really gives a 'now or never' as the dark journey becomes easier and easier, as if 'A final push, we can do it !' type of music flows was felt.
I like to think that this song goes to the final battle of a movie where the main heroes only have a few minutes to stop a universe collapsing event from happening, and they only manage to succeed by the smallest possibility.
These tracks make me think of surviving in an 80's Apocalypse. Looking at the cover picture I see the building to the right is an upside down cross too. I'm going to need my sawed off shotgun, a leather jacket (with gloves), and either a motorcycle or an armored car to survive this.
Probably what I love most is the fact that your favorite childhood show is mixed with one of your favorite artist. Not only that but also due to how it introduces them to this killer music.
Sublime - only word there is. It's not just the sound texture and its quality. The changes in chords and scales are of classical quality - the multitude of overlaid melodies create an unparalleled tapestry of sound full of emotion and meaning. I imagined it played by a large orchestra with a chorus, with all the composition layers played by various instrument groups and I ended up wishing "if only". It would be unforgettable... but then again it already is. I've also got to say that the purchased V0 bandcamp mp3 quality blows this to bits. It's worth the investment.
THIS is the soundtrack to the forgotten space arms race of the 1980s. The American ASAT missile versus the Soviet IS-A. Vandenberg's military Space Shuttle base versus the "SKIF-DM" laser weapon station.
what an incredible sense of melody and progression. this is really just world class and thats not an overstatement. you could arrange this for any ensemble and it would move me all the same.
I was listening to this when working on my project. When I was done I was having a hard time deciding to keep listening to this or go watch youtube. I kept listening.
Whenever I listen to this, I imagine a music video about two soldiers of the future who are also a couple. 0:00 It starts with a fight against a very strong alien, and they fight alongside each other in a beautiful choreography. They've done this for many years and they complement each other in their fighting style. But the guy gets injured, and things start to get ugly. In a last-ditch effort, the girl sacrifices herself by detonating her suit while saving him. 0:29 As the explosion occurs, the guy wakes up sweating but realizes it was all just a dream. She is asleep next to him. He looks at her, and the idea of losing his loved one doesn't let him get back to sleep. So instead, he gets up from bed and puts on a suit. He enters a door in their room that turns out to be a simulator. 1:00 In the simulation chamber he starts practicing how to fight against that strong alien that appeared in his dream. Here, I imagine a montage of him waking up every night to practice, but the alien always wins. Each day he gets even more an more frustrated. 1:31 But one night, the girl wakes up and notices the guy is not in bed. She sees the lights coming from the simulator and suits up. As the guy is about to be defeated by the alien once again, she appears inside the simulation. The guy looks at her, like saying, "What are you doing here?" But the girl just smiles and helps him in the fight, and they manage to beat the alien for the first time. 1:54 The simulation ends, and the guy runs towards her to hug her. He's incredibly happy. She's happy too, though she finds his reaction a little too extra, because for her it was just a regular practise session. As he lifts her in his arms in celebration, he receives a message from the army on his smartwatch. They are needed for a special mission on another planet. So they put on their soldier suits, and a spaceship picks them up. He is very concerned because the planet they are going to looks very similar to the one in his dreams. She senses he's not ok and holds his hand, she thinks he's just a bit worried about the mission, but he cant get the image of her dying in his dream. 2:20 As they arrive, they encounter aliens that attack them but they are way too easy for both of them. 2:36 But then, out of the ground emerges ... the same alien from the dream. They both get very serious and manage to gracefully evade attacks. The guy avoids the exact same attack that got hm injured in his dream, , and he seems determined; he's going to do whatever is necessary to kee her safe. And it seems they are winning, they are going to make it. 2:56 But suddenly, the alien injures HER, and things start to get ugly. The alien is overwhelming them. He assesses the situation and realizes there's only one way out. As the alien charges its attack, the guy overcharges his suit and jumps towards the alien, sacrificing himself to save his girl. And as the explosion occurs in front of her... 3:26 She wakes up sweating. It was just a dream.
