A complete sleeper hit this season that blew me away with how much I enjoyed watching it. We need more anime like this
Sano Nami is a mangaka who is famous for her work "Have you heard? I'm Sakamoto" (it has an absurd comedy similar to her second work, aka Migi to Dali). It was discovered she had cancer, so she was hospitalized and passes away about a month later in August, aka before Migi to Dali anime was released
I think apart from the scar Dali never saw himself as a good fit for the couple and so gave Migi the spotlight. Dali associated him and Migi as being different as him being left behind. Dali and Eiji are similar as they are both suicidal in their own ways. Eiji in a more straightforward way and Dali by wanting to live as a shadow in a sort of self-sacrifice for Migi. So to clarify in the manga Akiyama was saying that Dali wore the wig three times a week prior to the get-together. The ending was exactly as you see it here no closure with the dad. Micchan being a ghost is a manga thing and in the manga she writes the word "fin" meaning the end I think bringing back the mom would take away from the loss that is the heart of the show. Micchan coming back is a more comical thing with her character. I guess the author chose not to let her character die since she is the life of the party and for the absurdity of it all. Akiyama in bringing up the sister was trying to make the point that Reiko in trying to make the town molded like her did damage to alot of people including the sister who used to be alot more productive and put together. It is a shame they never went back to that because I would love more details on that. I think Eiji was referring to his real mom at the graveside since in the manga he talks about wanting to be forgiven by her but then it could be he was referring to both Reiko and Metry. The epilogue takes place three years after the plot the twins were adopted in 1990 and so they are about 16 years old since high school lasts for three years. This ending has been so satisfying and the themes of coming of age becoming your own person grief loss obsession with perfectionism all the themes were portrayed in a beautiful way and one befitting the show and more people need to watch the show this is my personal anime of the season
For me the biggest theme within this Anime is "Family". How family is complicated, and messy. How it can be just as much blood relations, to found family. The fact the story revolve around two main families. Both couldn't have children but one went the route of adoption because they wanted a child to love, and the other being a foil within the story, having the family obsessed the idea of a perfect family . Basically how extreme these same desires can go. But family is in no way black or white or perfect in the slightest. Not to mention, how even though the siblings are related, you can't force a relationship just because they are blood, but it takes time.
I just realized that the 3 of them were in a love triangle, lol still cracks me up.
😭😭😭😭😭 the show was so wild
Ending made me cry and touched.
