Brazilian Composer, Marcos Valle, a legend in music, has given the world another classic! Marcos Valle wrote "So Nice" (phrased at 2:08-2:14 in this recording)back in the '60s; now this collaboration with Robert Lamm is blending 2 marvelous talents! Plus Chicago sounds.....Wonderful!
Robert Lamm’s voice, the arrangement the percussion and trombone solo make this a special track!
@jimlavallee
Agree ... 👍
I keep revisiting Robert's two musical gems on this album, this one and the House on the Hill. Wow, Robert lyrically and musically these two are your best songs. Your writing is back and so is Chicago, look forward to more music from you guys in the future. We all have been missing new Chicago music for a very long time.
Fantastic tune! Love the Bossa feel. Totally a new Chicago summer classic!
Nice to hear it. It is a partnership of Robert(lyrics) and me(music). So, thanks
@@marcosvalle5180, I flat out love this song! Great to see you collaborate with Robert on this.
I can’t get enough of this song! Soo smooth and relaxing like a tropical vacation.
Listening to this outstanding song in pria da. Ostia Brasil now !
Meant to type Pria da Costa Brasil
Terry would've hated Chicago to go to Bossa nova land, lol. I was kidding, I like this. I hope their next album revisits their early 70s funk and jazz fusion, with some socio poliitical commentary as well.
This absolutely excellent. What a great come back for this band
Robert Lamm and I have been writing some songs together, and this is one of them.
Great song, but not destined for the pop charts, but Chicago isn't making music for that young crowd anymore.
I now have a new all time favorite song. Exquisite.
Thanks a lot. I wrote it with Robert Lamm
Starts off like Stevie Wonder's "Don't you worry Bout A Thing". Great song!
I thought the same thing - on the bossa nova vibe. Then it's more Jobim - like. Nice chord changes!
@@jml-rj5re It is a song that I have written with Robert Lamm, I wrote the melody and Robert, the lyrics. I love the recording.
Reminiscent of "Never Been In Love Before" too. I like it!
Classic Chicago
Bossa feel. Great
Robert Lamm and I wrote this song. I wrote the music and Robert, the lyrics. Lovely recording by Chicago.
@@marcosvalle5180 thanks Marcos! Its a great song and love that Robert finally had Chicago record it after all these years!
I honestly like the touch of the female vocalists at the end. I do wish they were heard more often throughout the song. Nonetheless, a rich and flavorful tune! Awesome work gents!
J'adore cette partition jazy, les cuivres sont comme d'habitude superbe cest une réussite, merci pour votre musique Svp veney en france l'attente est longue!!!!!
Nice song by Robert! Love the quote from the classic Brazilan song "So Nice" and nice to hear Jimmy Pankow take a trombone solo!
This song is a partnership of Robert Lamm and me.
I love this recording and the idea to quote one piece of the melody that I wrote for my song Summer Samba( So Nce)
@@marcosvalle5180 wow Marcos VALLE! LOVE your music! Summer Samba was one of the first bossas that I ever learned on piano! Loved Summer Samba and all your music!
@@benarmentano3799 Thanks a lot, Ben, take care
I wonder if they'd perform this live, James might struggle with that trombone solo live.
@@lamarravery4094 Jimmy trombone solo is fantastic!
Beautiful Bossa vibe..exquisite trombone solo by Jimmy..
Jimmy is fantastic. I wrote this melody and Robert Lamm, the lyrics, I love the recording.
Smooth as butter. Superior arrangements, flawless
A beautiful mini-tribute to Laudir De Oliveria RIP sir.
I wrote the music and Robert Lamm, the lyrics, and I just love the recording
We love Marcos Valle! He’s fantastic, very talented!
This is such a great tune. Perhaps the new theme for JAMES BOND 26 ❤ This is why Chicago rules 55 years later. Always experimenting with different sounds. Also great to hear Ramon Yslas' work shining here. Beautiful track. Thank you Marcos V and RL.
Love the nod to "So Nice (Summer Samba)"! Nice!
Well, I wrote the melody of this song, and Robert Lamm, the lyrics. And included the nos to also my sing Summer Samba((So Nice). I love this recording
😂😂😂😂 Just thought Love Boat 🚢⛵ when I was paying attention to the lyrics 😂 chilled out vibe. Should record the music video for this classic in either Havana or Rio. Maybe both ❤
OK...a bit of stevie wonder feeling with the intro!! this makes me want to dance with robert on a Mediterranean terrace at sunset! bossa nova-ish. its a HIT!!
I also love this recording of my song with Robert Lamm
Excellent...
Love it!
My dear partner in this song, and some others. I just listened to Chicago recording, and Iove it a lot.
Beautiful arrangement, your vocal, thank you all, please send my love to all the guys.
Hello Mr Valle, Thank you for all your wonderful music through the years. (and of course Chicago is an incredible band)
@@mirandazannos336 Thanks a lot, Miranda.
That a sublime bossa nova song, well done I might add, is like a rich dessert on a splendidly written and executed work of music.
This a partnership of Robert Lamm and me. I wrote the music and Robert, the lyrics. And Chicago recorded with sublimely with a great arrangement and Robert vocal.
Jimmy's got a little of that "Hanky Panky" vibe going on, only in a different style.
Just coolin Bobby Lamm with james pankow!!
Groovy
Samba. Bossa nova. Jobim. All danced in Bobby Lamm’s head when he wrote and sang this. Nice!
😀But this song is a patnership of Robert and me. I wrote the melody, and Robert, the lyrics.
Again we get it, no need for a comment about how you wrote it every time someone states their opinion
I notice that the extract from 2:08 til 2:12 is from Caetano Veloso's "Samba de Verão" song. I'm brazilian and I found this awesome! This could be a tribute to Laudir as well (RIP). Chicago is an amazing and underrated band.
Please come touring in Brazil, specially in Curitiba, where I live. Im a huge fan of yours.
In this song, I have written the melody, and Robert Lamm, the lyrics, I loved the recording, and also a part of the melody that I have written to my song Summer Samba(So Nice).
This song is a partnership of myself, who wrote the melody, and Robert Lamm, who wrote the lyrics. I just love the recording, the arrangement, Robert Lamm vocals, everything.
And yes, they include a part of the melody that I have written for Summer Samba(So Nice), recorded also by Caetano.
Regarding Laudir, I have a song that we wrote together, entitled Life Is What It Is, that Chicago recorded in their album Chicago XIII.
Without a doubt "Samba de Verão"
Yes, I've heard that vocal part before somewhere. Robert giving homage to his Brazilian influences here.
Superb, Lamm always loved the bossa nova vibe, drinks by the pool with the Great Ones. Well done Chicago
This a song I have written with Robert Lamm. Great recording
What? You wrote the song with him?? Who are you?
@@andrewwentz4459 I wrote the melody and Robert, the lyrics.
Ok great, how come you aren't listed as a writer or given credit?
@@andrewwentz4459 I am.
Love it, Chicago forever
Sounds like Bossa Nova, especially In The Heights. Chicago sung THE MERMAID (Series Do Mar). Latin flavor style, in the summer beat!!!!!
Robert Lamm's been into Bossa Nova for a while now. If you like this song, you should check out The Bossa Project, a solo album that he released in 2008.
I wrote the music, and Robert, the lyrics. Great recording
Fancy!
I wrote the music and Robert, the lyrics. Great recording.
What song does the intro remind me of?
In the beginning of The Mermaid it almost sounds like the beginning of a Stevie Wonder song.
This is a song which I have written with Robert Lamm.
I love the recording
SEXY ROBERT SOUNDS FABULOUS
And my partner sang it beautifully.
I Wholeheartedly AGREE
When John sings songs written for Rhino's Revenge he's fairly good. When he sings songs written for Rick Parfitt he's awful. Songs that Rick sang are in too high a key for Rhino and he really struggles.
What do you want from? Be honest be real be....
This Definitely is NOT why I became a Chicago fan in the late 60s. What in the hell are they doing?
Trying to stay relevant it’s an amazing tune
I’m with you, Sharon.
