I started doing this a month ago and with the clarity of the water I'm getting also seems to make my corals happy.
Looking forward to the next video on how to use on those v-snail
Does this affect any other type of sails or other clean up crew. How often would you use this on a 90 gallon tank?
Great simple solution to my vermetid snail problem. The bumblebee snails are just not able to keep up. Ordered the Calcium Carbonate so i will gice this a go
We did the mix of this and bubbles snails on a buddy’s tank and it did the trick. Starting it on of my office tank now
Me too.. i do it 2 years ago.. vermetid snail all gone..after 3month
@@pt7788nhow often were you dosing it?
Yes, how often where you dosing?@@pt7788n
I use weekly and dose much more than this video shows. Doesn’t seem to make a difference to vermetid snails in my experience. Perhaps daily for a week or two?
Ive made some tests, and is definitely increasing my kh, I bought CACO3. I don’t why this happened but I tested in a water change and it raised 😢
Great video! I did this after watching @MikeyMikemike roughly two years ago, and it definitlay does all that you've mentioned. Looking forward to your next video!
Been dosing 3 times a week for a year and my vermatids are almost completely gone. Wvery rock was completely covered in them. I recommend dosing after feeding your fish as the feed gets the vermatid nets open and then does calcium to foul their nets!
Awesome to hear you have won the battle!
Good to know! I’ve been doing this for a month and it looks like it may be paying off. They’ve been on the rocks for so long though 😬 I hope it doesn’t take a year
Is this ok for clams or other filter feeder?
If you dont blow out your rocks, i do this once a week and remove a powerhead, blow all the stuff out of your rocks and stir up 1/4 of the sand, my tank loves the attention it wasnt getting before i started to do this. I also change out the filter sock the day after to completley remove it from the system, great video as always
Thank you and great tips
Would bubble scrubbing at the same time help get things out of the tank as well?
Both methods essentially help transport small particles to your mechanical filtration
Great vid!
Does the unused solution store well?
Yep. Just stir or shake before use
If the primary reason for dosing coral snow is to get rid of Vermetid snails, is it OK to dose every day? If not how/frequent do you suggest? I hope you didn’t answer this in your video and I missed it 😅. Thanks
For snails wouldn’t using ozone do the same thing for water clarity and starving out the vermetid snails?
For water clairity yes. But ozone has no affect on vermetied snails
Mesh filter socks (200micron) will not remove coral snow from your tank. Use felt or a much smaller micron size. I do believe this makes my water very clear, but has zero effect on my vermetid snails as far as I can tell. I use weekly when I clean my tank.
Is it worth trying this and/or is it safe if I also run a UV sterilizer?
Yep. Safe with uV
will this also work with AIO tanks?
As long as your have a sock or skimmer to filter out the particle later. Could always just do a water change as well
Can you store any excess solution? If so, for how long would you recommend?
You sure can. Jsut stir or shake before you use it
I did a big mix and have been using it for nearly a year and it’s the same as the day I mixed it.
Couldn't make out the amount of RO added to the 115mg of Calcium carbonate.....can you repeat the amount, please? Thx.
200-230ml of RO
Does the skimmer react or i mean overflow from the dosing?
Not impact skimmer.. i tried b4..
@@pt7788n thanks for the info.
Aside from clarifying the water, is there any benefit to doing this?
Riding vermetid snails
So I didn’t hear you clearly enough so if I have a 230g tank how much would I put in at night ? Did you say 10ml?
It's 1ml per 25 gallons. So about 9ml to your tank.
How often can it be used?
It’s inert so at least a few times per week. Once a week works great though.
No impact at all on alkalinity?
nope :)
Can I do this for a Fowlr until I get corals in? Also how much should I dose for a 30 gallon tank? @reefdudes
Yep it will act as a floculant to clarify. I would dose 1-3ml
