Choosing our Best Roosters!

- When we purchased our new chickens last fall we ordered multiple roosters for each of our flocks so we could watch them grow and them keep the best ones for our flocks. Today is the day where Brooklyn and I head out to determine who is staying and who is going. We are raising bielefelder and black austrolorp chickens which are both dual purpose breeds. We decided to keep the largest and best looking roosters from each flock. Check out todays video to see who is staying and who is going!

She’s so sweet
You can never have to many chicken wranglers!🐓🐔🐣
We love our roosters and hens. So calm and friendly.
Keep one roster for all that all need
You are good at catching your roosters. I had to purchase a fishing net that had a long handle.
It helps with help!😂
What a fun day !!!! I would be dying laughing the whole time
Yeah, we have too many roos too. What to do with the roos.. contemplating our first processing...
You should. I’m going to do probably 3 today. Dispatch them and about 15 min later have 3 being grilled. It’s not difficult at all. To me it’s sad how it’s become a forgotten task now days.
I’m your biggest fan❤
I’m your biggest fan
I agree on the temperament of the bielefeleder roosters, based on the one I have anyways. He is easy going with the hens in my pasture bug control flock and with people. Getting another one this spring to be the Roo for my egg flock.
0940 broke my heart
So enjoyable ‼️Thank you 🌺🍍🏝️✝️🇺🇸🤙🏽🫶🏽
Looks so cute. Feed with pleasure❤
Nooice! 😎 STOC

Whats up
Hi john and Brookline how many eggs are you getting a day
Around 18 now
You could try using a fishing dip net and try to catch the chickens. Just a suggestion
Muy amplio terreno para las aves
La pregunta es: como le hacen en tiempo de nieve???
Hi John. I have been wanting to ask you about the net gear nest boxes. How wide are they?
Have a great day.
Hey Scott thanks for reaching out if you click the link in the description below it will show you dimensions to all the different sizes they offer.
I have 5 week old bielefelders and I have watched most of your videos, they are very informative. Through research I have read that they are naturally docile and friendly but - do you believe there is anything I can do to ensure they keep that nature or is it just individual chicken luck? Did you handle them a lot as they were growing in the brooder? Thanks
Didn’t do much in the brooder but feed and water them. I think it’s just individual chicken. Appreciate you following along
How's the egg production of the bielefelders? I want some really bad, but the 2 people I know that have em down here said they just quit laying at times? Oh, BTW, new subscriber here😎👍
This is the second time we have had them and the first time they did quit laying. I would say their production is medium. We liked them enough to get them again though.
Thanks for following along
We have bielefelder hens that we got to replace some of the original easter eggers. Love their temperament and how big they are. But my rooster is Americana/mix. He's good, but I'm tempted to try and raise some chicks out of the brooder for meat just to see how it works out. I have a hard time spending so much for the cornish cross chicks, but it may be well worth it once I figure it out and accept real life results.
when you do compare the meat vs dual purpose can you include plucking if there is a difference there too please , thanks. they are beauties just a few too many.
Will do
What breed of rooster is this?
What makes you so passionate?
