I am most interested in the one about Aaron Herendez..
American Murder was a very insane documentary.
Love your picks watchmojo
I think 'Dont F**k with Cats' is one of the most horrifying and interesting documentary i have ever seen
I'm gonna watch tonight
agree.
When I first saw that I shit you not I thought it meant actual cats 🧍🏻
@@Marty-fd6pz 💙
@@cryingoverblood1094 it does involve cats and the social media investigation was so good that it creeps me out.
Nightstalker had me checking everything before bed
"Dont F*ck With Cats" on Netflix was pretty good imo
Very disturbing.
that would have been #4 on my list ..... great doc
Ive heard of it but haven't seen it. What's it about?
Yes but the title is “true crimes in 2021” so they mostly featured newer documentaries
@@ArkaeaFCL3 a teenager records himself torturing, killing kittens. then these people from facebook form a group to investigate and hunt down this "internet killer", His crimes get worse. I definitely recommend!
American Murder: The Family Next Door was brilliantly edited. I was FLOORED at the twist.
Yes, that's a great documentary
you should look up updates by chris watt's mistress...that woman knows something!
I’ve known about that case before the documentary. The whole body cam footage from the police when they first go to his house that knowing the outcome is just so uncomfortable. The whole story kinda made me feel sick, I’m not sure if I can watch the doc.
what twist?
@@Marykate465 I didn't know anything about the crime so for me, the reveal of the killer was a total shock.
Let's be honest, most go to Netflix for long form true crime documentaries. lol
Yep
What do you mean by, "long form true crime?"
Im so lost...
Maybe you, I enjoy watching true crime documentaries on Netflix
@@FT9chango5 well I have cable so I guess the only true crime series or documentaries I watch is ABC or investigation discovery or something

MVP 🏅 🥈 🎖
I really liked the night stalker documentary, however the Cecil one I was less interested in. I felt it dragged on and they added unnecessary parts, but to each their own
You’re one of those “I’m just gonna say I don’t like this thing because other people like it”
I agree, I watched all 4 episodes of that documentary and I think they devoted too much screen time and attention on all those internet sleuths and their stupid conspiracy theories, it was very unnecessary. If they had just paid attention to all the facts and the things that actually mattered, then they would've been able to do the documentary in 1 or 2 episodes.
@@dustind5941 An I guess you like it because other people do? I didn't find it very interesting, I found better content on youtube discussing Elisa Lam's unfortunate death.
@@iamlinda100 Yeah it was focused more on LA and skid row rather than Elisa, I would've enjoyed more if it was a documentary on Los Angeles
Agree about the cecil,
especially after they reveal the most possible cause of elisa's dead at the very early episode i totally lost interest to it
The footage of Bella and CeCe throughout American Murder is so sad. To know that their monster of a father snuffed the life out of them with no remorse is appalling.
The Aaron Hernandez one was mind blowing (no pun intended) at how tragic it was, it was so much more than the headlines told
Was Aaron really bisexual?
"How can you love a murderer." Comment hit it on the nail.
The Ripper about the yorkshire ripper was pretty good
The Night Stalker doc was just ok in my opinion. They really dumbed down his actions to make them easier to understand, but they missed out on showing Ramirez’s relationship with his older cousin who essentially morphed him into a killer.
The point of the documentary wasn't about ramirez himself, but the investigation and people behind it.
@@DreadGroove But what is the point then? People want to know more about killer, documentary should just have one more episode for that, besides these four episodes.
@@lovemusicmusa The point of the documentary wasn't about ramirez himself, but the investigation and people behind it.
@@lovemusicmusa That’s people problem now. They romanticize and obsess over the killers.
@@donl3500 That doesn't mean people romanticize killers, very few people actully do so, most people are just curious to learn more about rare psychopaths like those are.
About "The Ripper". This video makes the same mistake as the investigators back then. The killer did not prey on just the sex workers.
neverminded wrong specials, and wrong ripper
honestly i wouldnt recommend the cecil hotel one. It was dragged on and it felt disrespectful.
Yeah I couldn’t get into it and it definitely dragged 🙄
It paid too much attention to the sensationalist conspiracy theory vloggers, they didn't even know Elisa Lam in real life and where unhealthily obsessed with her. In my opinion it was done in an extremely disrespectful way.
All the online detectives were so cringe
@@IMIaTix especially the one that had someone record Elisa's gravestone for him, fucking hell he was the absolute worst.
@@MobinKiadeh ya like my immediate thought was why is there so many conspiracies. like obviously the world was really caught up in it but they spent so much time in each episode about the people who created conspiracies.the conspiracies are important to a degree but not this much since the way she died was very understandable ya know
I was blown away while watching The Vow. Really well produced, i'm waiting for season 2.
I would like to recommend "House of Secrets: The Burari Deaths" it's a true crime documentary series
yes this is scary to watch and i love the documentary
Most distrubing
Absolutely right
It was really disturbing, I stopped watching after an episode and later completed the whole documentary.
I found that one kind of boring
The one about the Yorkshire Ripper has a major twist halfway through that changes your perception about the investigation altogether. You're going through the events in chronological order, seeing what the inspectors saw, watching the news coverage, and trying to find any clues that would help identify the killer. But then you're given a piece of overlooked, but definitely important evidence that the cops ignored, and the fallout from that particular knowledge had some devastating consequences. I encourage everyone to watch it, so I won't spoil what that evidence was, but it certainly was critical to understanding who their suspect was and why he attacked particular women.
glooks fam
Evil Genius was really good I would recommend that one ☝️ it’s on Netflix.
Its from a few years back, this list is about documentaries from 2021, with the exception of a few from 2020
Rossa4 well it says to watch in 2021 not documentaries that were released in 2021 so
I also recommend
@@moniqueedwards7115 its focused more on new releases closer to 2021, otherwise without any exemptions the list would be “top 10 true crime documentaries of all time”
Rossa4 it literally says to watch in 2021 not released in or closer to 2021. Lol calm down
Tread is a dang good one. While not about a serial killer it is about a man who went on a building destroying rampage in an armored bulldozer.
Murder among the Mormons was a pretty good documentary. I would recommend watching it on Netflix.
I have that on my list of things to watch
I just started watching that one. Its good so far but I think Night Stalker and Dont F**k with Cats was better
Just finished it. Both as a Mormon and as a fan of true crime, I think it’s great!
@@JustinZarian Me too! I really enjoyed it.
Awesome docu
Nobody needs to watch the Onision documentary because the producers didn’t dive deep enough. You could do better actually supporting CZcamsr deep dives that have followed the story longer than the last 2 years
I 100% agree
Agreed
What is Onision accused of, I'm really confused from all the ads
@@GamerGod87 Y'know the usual NPC stuff:
Child porn for rating fans just like ''the immune women'' - Dee Shanell or SssniperWolf;
destroying wetlands for removing 2 DAMN BUSHES outta his yard, so his kids can play safe (and per neighbor's suggestion too. The one they said he lied about and then said - ''W-well, YOU did it'');
Bullying Eugenia Cooney with the parody... Like, really? As if the mountains of (SERIOUS, NOT COMEDY) support and awareness videos doesn't counter that. Get outta here, Captain Cornflakes. Was Das Black too much?;
Beating his dogs, cause on a video, one of 'em was walking weird and the only pets in this era, that's not allowed to walk weird for a bit - are Onision's dogs (Like, STFU, Brooke Houts enabler)
Came here to say the same thing.
Night stalker was my favourite documentary of that list for sure. I didn't realise how messed up and brutal his crimes actually were! Was an interesting watch.
As someone who was a child in los Angeles during the night stalker, the documentary was done very well. I highly recommend watching it.
I enjoy watching crime documentaries. The world is crazy out there.
*Mostly America...
One thing I did like with the Night Stalker is that they used some of the real sections of him and what transpired in American Horror Story, which was altered in ways to make it more Slasher Supernatural Horror for the show but was still a good watch... Not only that but they used an actor that came pretty close on looking like the real life Night Stalker.
Another good documentary is the 30 for 30 documentary on OJ Simpson. It’s called “OJ Simpson: Made in America” It won an Academy Award. It’s very well done and worth the purchase. I got mine on Amazon.
Agreed! It becomes even more fascinating if you watch "O.J. Simpson: The Last Confession" afterwards, which is the interview he did for the Fox network back 2006 but didn't air until 2016. Like the name says, it's basically him confessing to the murders.
The people vs OJ Simpson was a great tv series. They played those roles.
Great 📹 and I enjoyed it and I'm going to watch some of these documentaries and have a blessed day
What a sad, but compelling video. You guys are amazing 👏❤ Thanks, I appreciate y'all 🙏
Just saw "The Sons of Sam: A Descent into Madness". Just an hour ago. It provided an interesting perspective into the S.O.S. case of the 70s. At first, I thought it was just a typical serial killer case but it unfolded as a more gripping and sinister look from an investigator's perspective. It's like literally opening up a bigger can of worms into the occult that even [spoiler alert] into the Manson Family Murders.
After watching this series, one would think if the mass shootings in the US have anything to do with this decades-long case.
Who would be cruel enough to prosecute a child that had to be afraid for her life? That's insane!
Would you say that if the child was a boy ???
Didn't think so.
@@josephrivett7378 um no. Boys get trafficked too. A child is a child.
I watched the Night Stalker documentary. It was chilling. I was 11 years old living in Southern California when all that happened. Scary.
I watched that Cecil Hotel Documentary, it had no right being 4 hours long, it's padded to hell and loses steam partway through the first episode
Yeah, Netlflix tends to do that. I feel like the night stalker could have been cut down to 90-120 minutes, but they just want more watch time.
Yeah, it was meh. Disappointing especially of someone of Joe Berlinger's caliber.
@@wowbobwow37 it was really good and it needed to be that long to cover all aspects of the case
How can you say the nightstalker detectives "successfully hunted him down"? The public caught him! The detectives failed every step of the way, it's a joke that the documentary is in the perspective of the detectives.
They had the best detectives they could on the case and they were really good, it’s not easy catching a serial killer especially someone like the night stalker
It was when the mayor released information to the public, the police couldn't do anything. But I agree with you the public caught him
Not sure you are correct, the public was only able to recognise and get him because the police were able to pinpoint his identity in the first place. Had the police not released his name and picture to the papers, no one would have caught him.
@@fabio78 Yea that's correct also
the only reason he was caught was because the detectives were able to figure out who he was and get his face out into the public...they dedicated their life at the time to catching him the public caught him physically but the detectives did literally everything else
All ive seen was Night Stalker and it was good. highly recommend
The Vow was very captivating! Well worth a watch!!!
Thought that Evil Genius is worth a shout! - Great documentary!
very interesting and exciting
American Murder: Family Next Door genuinely left me sick for a couple days...such an incredible yet gruesome and disturbing documentary. The live footage was a surreal experience and really made it feel like you were there. Night Stalker was also incredible!
The vanishing at the cecil is awesome, two thumbs up for me.
THEY GOT ME A COUPLE OF GOOD ONES i HAVEN'T SEEN! GREAT LIST!
by far THE NIGHT STALKER is the best DOCUMENTARY, the graphics, the way they present this documentary is absolutely amazing, really deserveD THE NUMBER 1 SPOT
"I fear no man. But that..."
*thumbnail*
"...that thing scares me."
I watched the Nightstalker one. Man, that was hard to watch, but very informative at the same time.
I just finished watching it today. It was disturbing but it taught a lot of lessons.
Watched the Cecil Hotel, Madeline McCann, Murder Mountain, the Pharmacist, Murder Among the Mormons and Night Stalker already. Great stuff.
I remember watching some of the Richard Ramirez documentaries on Reelz, or other crime channels, years ago.
Everyone slept on The Vow. Easily the best documentary I've seen in a long time.
The Alisa Lam case has been debunked. There is video of the people her family hired to see what happened and it turns out it was extremely easy to get into the water tank. She had a mental episode and committed suicide unfortunately. I hate that people are trying to capitalize on her case. Imagine being her family and having to see all of this crap.
That poor dude ,Morbid , who those sleazy online sleuths basically harassed to the point where he tried to take his own life really pissed me off. That guy hasn’t made music since because they ruined his freedom of expression. People have a fucking field day with their conspiracy theories, and it ruins lives. Poor girl died of an accident, must of sucked that they didn’t have anymore people to harass for their little crime drama. RIP Elisa
@@FatLikeKessel Same, I felt so sorry for that guy. People are so stupid, ruining someone's life because of conspiracy theories...
Suicide? Wasn't it ruled accidental death?
I agree!
Sam Morris No. people are spreading rumors so they can sell their story. Look up the video her family made. It shows the guy that helped them go all the way out of the hotel and up to the water tank. It wasn’t a secure tank and it was extremely easy to get to.
I believe Chris Benoit was found to have that same neurological abnormality post mortum as Aaron Hernandez, except he was a wrestler. His death (as well as his family's) are chilling.
I wanna see a true crime documentary about Charles Ng
The hotel Cecil one really annoyed me because of the conspiracy theories
We all love a good mystery and sometimes they are correct
But the level of intrusive some of these people spoke about Elisa Lamm as though they KNEW her or what the hell was going on in her life. Mate you read or suspect based on the breadcrumbs you get on the internet the same as the rest of us.
We will never know and let her family have peace
They already lost their daughter and they have suffered enough
I don’t know why it’s considered a true crime documentary. Her death was not a crime!
Another great documentary that wasnt on the top 10 is one called “The Confession Killer” and it has lots of twists and turns and it’s on Netflix
i found that it had me so lost because i couldnt believe all of that was just a ruse
@@Mara0369 Word can someone tell me what was going on🤣.
I agree, it got me confused for a moment
Ramirez's police sketch is nightmare fuel and Momo's inspiration...
The heavens gate cult documentary on hbo max was really good too. Highly recommend
I like that new Night Stalker Documentary/Mini TV series on Netflix it's so good!!
The night stalker documentary was amazing and chilling at the same time . Netflix keep them coming 😍😍
"I'll be Gone in the Dark" is worth a mention. HBO Patton Oswalt's late wife's book and passion which she helped catch the Golden State Killer.
She sure did. A passion so intense it gave her a drug habit.
That isn't on Netflix 😷
BLESS U MOJO BLESS U
I just finished watching "CRIME SCENE: The Vanishing At Cecil Hotel". That was a great documentary. But poor Elisa Lam
It was all filler...could have been told in 1 hour episode. Poor Elisa
Then you understand why it shouldn't be on a list of true crime documentaries.
Maybe it's just me, but I prefer my crime documentaries to contain....you know...a crime.
@@celestekierans4931 That's what happens when you decide to make a true CRIME documentary without a CRIME.
@@celestekierans4931 agreed, drawn out and frankly boring.
"Welcome to Watch Mojo"
My favorite
I clicked this on with Bill Hader playing Keith Morrison eating 🍿 from SNL on my mind. 😶
Night Stalker truly looks like a monster in that photo. Fitting cause he is one
Abducted at plain sight. The damages that being in a cult and being treated like a child and being manipulated in such a way to the point that it makes you just give away your daughter to a rapist.Deeply upsetting and educational. Also The Khalief Browder story, like the Cinthoia Brown story, sad and terrible way both were treated and the state of American Justice system.
The Night Stalker:The hunt for a serial killer and Crime scene:the vanishing at the Cecil hotel they are the most interesting and incredible true crime documentaries in all the time
I’m guessing you watch every popular Netflix original cuz there’s plenty of docs better than them
The Cecil hotel was boring no offense. It felt like it was all over the place with no direction
Night Stalker was great
I was really satisfied with the Elisa Lam documentary, a subject I was hoping Netflix would tackle. Murder Amongst Mormons was also thrilling.
The Elisa Lam documentary was lame. Lol.
Ummmm, I'LL BE GONE IN THE DARK?? Huuuuge omission if including stuff from 2020. One of the best true crime docs EVVVERR, not just from this past year
I agree 100%, that was captivating as hell. They sure missed out on putting that on the list.
Agreed. Watched in on HBO a while back, quite surprise with the culprit reveal though.
Yeah, I kinda called them on that one too.
Very disappointing. was supposed to be a documentary about the Golden State Killer, it was more of a fan worship piece dedicated to Michelle McNamara. Directed by her husband. Not what i expected
It was directed by Liz Garbus.
The Chris Watts case is the only one that hit me so hard I cried. For Bella to have been singing _"My daddy is my hero"_ in a video right before being murdered, after watching her sister be killed and sitting in the truck with her mother's body, and callously shoved into an oil drum, it just broke my heart. Especially knowing how brutal he was, they said he had to break their bones to shove them into those drums because the hope was so small, it just really pissed me off. I'll never understand people thinking murder is a better solution to get out of a relationship than divorce.
The Night Stalker is by far the best crime documentary on Netflix to date
Don't fuck with cats is better night stalker a close 2nd fashoo
No its definitely the gabriel Fernandez case
@@LoveGaloreAlt rip lil bruh but definitely not true
The Ted Bundy's doc, is pretty good too.
@@Leo_Silva_ Yeah it was
I highly suggest Kendall Rae's channel. Her true crimes videos are A+!
From the look of the thumbnail; he did it !
SNUBBED: Peacock's "John Wayne Gacy: Devil In Disguise" documentary. Had it been considered, it should've landed top three.
Danm cryed a the nabo next door..
And night starker gave me nightmare..
Both are great
they need to do one on Kendrick Johnson seriously that case is weird
Bro I just came back to watch this channel again that lady that is talking is basically my childhood I been watching her since I was a little kid
The Crime Scene:The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel is the best and awesome true crime documentary of Netflix in all the time and this documentary series is based the missing case of Elisa Lam
I like the VICE documentary about Chris Benoit, not really true crime but it's really interesting
and Don't f*ck with cats was really good too
Behind the mat I believe. It was really good
Dark side of The ring its called. It’s pretty good.
All of the Dark Side of the Ring episodes are fantastic. The Benoit one was incredibly sad, as was Owen Hart.
Tubi has some of the best true crime documentaries for free hands down!!
I literally only finished watching the night stalker 2 nights ago 😂 binged it all in 1 night shift at work lmao
I'll be Gone in the Dark, a Netflix series, is riveting for many reasons. My absolute favorite, albeit heartbreaking
Would thoroughly recommend the Fear of 13, quite a surprise
I am going to check out netflix now. Put on one as i go to sleep.
The first docu i watch and still recommended is The Keepers. It was good
WatchMojo: spoils the first entry on the list.

Cecil Hotel
American Murder
Murder to Mercy

5) Crack: Cocaine, Corruption & Conspiracy
The night stalker is the one I wanna see the most. Everybody knows the public caught Richard Ramirez, people in the comments suck. Great video mojo as always. 🤘🔥
Ok its time binge watch those docs
They need to make a documentary on the Chris Benoit tragedy yeah dark side of the ring was good but we need one as good as the night stalker documentary
Dunno if there's a lost already out there but I'd love to see event defining decades. Music/movies/celebrity/history/sport
Lisa lam moves her hands, everybody: she is fighting spirits. Can't be her arguing with staff about the elevator not working.
I filled my brain with a lot of Netflix Documentaries. I find interesting to know Ted Bundy and Richard Ramirez and other stories. Such disturbing but taught me a lesson.
The Onision documentary shouldn't be on here; they did the bare minimum with research and pretty much used all the work youtuber's did. Overlooking them but using their materials. That's dirty, ALONG with not doing the victims any justice. Don't get me started on Chris Hansen and how he screwed up everything. SMH
All the Anti-O morons probably voted for that to be on the list. Remember WM has ''suggest'' links

Never been early before
Ivan Milat documentary is great too. Any really the one on 60minutes is amazing too. If you like horror movies& have seen Wolf Creek you know
I watched The Cecil Hotel Documentary and the Night Stalker (which is obviously about Richard) and I loved them both. They weren’t one of those bull crap shows where the episodes are like 20 or 30 minutes and barley tell us anything

Is it good?
Cool video 😎😎😎
It’s good, me and my parents watched it.
You watched it ...I actually knew him here in El Paso Texas, his home town when he was 15-17. He went to Jefferson high school and was bullied, he was a skinny kid. My deceased husband would protect him while he was a kid. Hated what became of Richard.
God I hope you’re a teenager & not in your 20s...or in your 30s for chrissakes.
