This is exactly what I needed. After the past few weeks when I started my new job, I found myself under a lot of stress and pushing myself a bit. But coming to your videos after work just to find a way to stop thinking about what I need to do, and just emerging myself into a state of relaxation, was exactly what I needed. Thank you so much for creating these awesome videos and wish you all the best :)
You're so welcome! Thank you for watching!
Those DPA's are truly impressive, what a great and stealthy way to record! they sound fantastic, the F3 is a hit, I love mine! the train sounds are sooooo cool and sound really great, even from that distance!!!!
Couldn't agree more Michael! :) Thank you for watching and your support!
You are producing great stuff! Often it's almost like those videos for relaxing) Plus the city's views! An interesting mix of professional and eye-candy format. Keep going!
Thank you so much! This is our passion. Showing different places, and recording different sounds. :)
Incredible sound. Thank you very much for this.
Thanks for listening Tom :)
aaahhhhh the part where you went through the tunnel was the best part for me, very enjoyable! such good luck to catch all of those trains in one spot as well, amazing!
Glad you enjoyed it and thank you so much for watching!
Thanks for uploading. Exactly what i need.
Thank you for watching and so great it helpful!
Thank you!
Wow, I was truly mind blown how good the stereo image is
Thank you so much for watching Mark. Yes the DPA's are amazing!
Feels like I'm there. Awesome!
Glad you enjoyed it! :)
that train shot looks like im watching a movie great work
Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for listening and watching!
The train recording sounded fantastic on those DPA 4560s while listening on my AT headphones ...
Best binaurals I ever used. Glad you like them.
That was really cool! I felt like i was right there ☺️
Glad you enjoyed it Christian! :) Today we're heading out and filming another video! :)
Rains & trains. Great idea. I was considering the F3 for it's small size (relative to my MixPre6) but the lack of live monitoring is a complete deal breaker for me. With it, recording is fun. Without it, much less so.
Amazing, your a pro! What is your offical rainny channel?
Hi , Thanks for you great channel. I have done this rain test before but using a rain Mac and a beanie hat plus binaural headset , I found the result to be more real sounding. the umbrella is to much high end and you don't hear another noises IMO
the vision of sound)
That's it :)
I love the looks of the Zoom F3. I’ve been using the H6 for years but only in the studio. The size of the F3 is key. My question is about a mic for recording birdsong. But I also need it for recording other isolated sounds. Any advice? Love the channel by the way. Gracias.
Everything I’ve seen from DPA seems to be top notch.
I would love to see what kind of fun and unique things you would choose to do with their DPA 4097!
I know you enjoy using a small sound kit.
Oh yes these are amazing! I think I saw somebody using these mics to record his rabbit eating cabbage. :)
A great setup for cold winter days, with your hands in your pockets 😄 Maybe you could try out some ear muffs as wind protection. I think pink or yellow ones would look good on you 🤣 The good thing with field recording: There is no such thing as bad weather. Greatings from a minus 1°C cold Germany - Til.
That's a great idea! I try to find a different color. Probably when we're back in Korea. Wow -1.. I can't even imagine but we're heading to Sapporo in a couple weeks. FREEZING!! :) Be safe out there.
That was a fun video. Good editing. Good music. Love the triple crossing train area. We have a place like that in Richmond VA USA.
Thank you for watching Allen! The soundscape in this area is just amazing :)
Sounds awesome on my BOSE QCII 35
Thank you so much!
Many thanks for this really cool video. I have now bought the same setup however wondering if I should record in "Mono" in Zoom F3 and mix it in software OR record directly in Stereo ? What would you suggest ?. I assume the binaural effect is built in in the recording and do not need to use the "SoundField by RØDE" plugin to further amplify the effect
Expensive kit!! But worth the sound. Thank you
So worth it! 🥳
Forgot to ask.. what is the best setting in zoom f3 for binaural sound..
i laugh everytime you pick the f3 up towards the sound like it has a mic capsule on it :)
Thank you for the very interesting images and sounds.
The sound of rain hitting an umbrella is in itself a very pleasant sound, but if you want to record the 'sounds of a rainy city', you need something like a 'rain jammer' to protect the microphone itself from the rain, while suppressing the rain sound right next to the microphone, which drowns out the actual rain sound you want to record.
I really like the sound of the binaural microphone using own auricle, which gives a three-dimensional effect in train stations and on trains.
That's correct. Rycote and Cinela has these protection but another great idea is to use all kind of leaves above the blimp. Maybe not in the city but in forests.
The DPA's sounding absolutely awesome as usual. I do love stealth binaural, but it's a shame all of the less expensive binaural headphones seem to be a problematic. Did you ever try the Sound Professionals binaural mics ? Anyway, I really enjoyed that as usual. I love recording train sounds too. Thanks very much to both of you.
Hi Simon! Thank you so much. I haven’t tried them out yet. I will check.
did you ever get the SoundProf mics? Considering it but havent heard any glowing reviews yet
@@fercos33 No, I didn't bother. I heard they're OK, but all these types of binaural mics seem to have some issues.
@@cryptotrader2779 Ok thanks for the response. Having such a hard time finding an easily portable mic with minimal handling noise.
@@fercos33 No problem. To be honest I'm now going more down the path of having a set of Usi microphones clipped to a backpack. Better sound and still very stealth. I didn't want to risk wasting more money on binaural headphones. My Usi's with my F3 is very very portable and super light, and using the Bluetooth dongle means I can operate the F3 from my phone if I have the F3 in the backpack.
Is there any real wind protection for the DPAs? Even for mild winds? Great video.
The only company who made wind protection is Soundman. You could get one of the over ear wind protection.
Hi 🙋♂️ Thanks for the auditive experience! The dpa 4560 cost almost 1000 Euro 💶 Which is not in my budget right now. Can you recomend a more affordable solution for 3d sound during walks? Greetings from Germany 👋
You can definitely find affordable solutions like Soundman, Roland etc… and 3DIO has a affordable version out there.
If you’re looking for a train to record, check out the Metrovagonmash 81-717 (Russia, Belarus, maybe Poland). They’re phasing them out so might soon be a historical artifact.
Wow! That would be awesome.
How u connect dpa to f3? Doest it also work on h1n? Or h1essen?
Your like the Marry Poppins of SFX recording now with that umbrella LOL.
Ha Ha :)
I have question : with aa battery:
If you connect two Danton power lavalier microphone, how much battery last.
On my f3 it last only 40 minute around .
( just to check battery i reused it on torch it works fine there ) I don’t know what’s wrong.
Could you address this plz
At 0:45 you mention that you can't listen with headphones and record at the same time, this appears to no longer be the case as of firmware version 2.0, which added direct monitoring support. I've always liked that feature.
Hi! Not talking about the recorder. I mean the DPA's.
If you were wearing these, walking at a brisk pace and carry some heavy gear, would they pick up heavy breathing?
Hi Daniel! Sorry for the late response. Yes, they would pick up heavy breathing.
Any chance you could arrange a tour of DPA when you get back to your home country sometime?
Hi Allen. That would be awesome but I want go back to my home country anytime soon.
DPA is a Danish company but maybe we could ask them if that's even possible. We always wanted to visit Denmark. We did asked Sanken here in Japan but it's also not possible right now.
@@FreeToUseSounds Oh, I thought you were from Denmark.
@@AllenCavedo Not at all :)
Awesome. Which sample rate do you use on F3?
All depends on the recordings. Sometimes 192kHz, sometimes 96kHz but I won't do anything lower than that.
Hi Marcel, Can you here what you are recording with the DPA 4560 ? What is it like in the wind? I returned the Over ear mics from SonicPresence SP15 PRO On-Ear XLR. I think they had a real wind issue.Cheers
FRank
Hello Frank, in order to be protected from wind noise, you would need some sort of wind protection. The DPAs are not designed to avoid wind noise, so if it's windy, I don't use them. Soundman has created a wind protection system for binaural headphones, but I have not used it myself.
What would be your recommendation for capturing voice in wedding basically my requirements are to capture interview for wedding using lav mic and using the recorder through mixer for event vo . What should i consider
F3 + Smart lav +
H6+ Smart lav + and which inout wire would i need for the same
Hi there. Oh we're sorry but we don't record at weddings and have no experience considering your request.
Maybe you could ask at Matt Johnson‘s channel.
☺️🎉
How do you power these DPA's? Aren't regular Binaural wearable mics not plug-in powered, and does the F3 even do that?
Hi Floris! The DPA's using phantom power that the F3 provides.
Hello :) Do you think the Zoom F6 would be a good choice?
Hi Michal! Oh yes its a great choice but do you also know what microphones you would like to use with?
@@FreeToUseSounds Hello. I just started watching your videos a few days ago. On your advice I purchased the DPA 4560 because I would like to have people more immersed in my videos. I purchased 2 XLR to microdot adaptors and am just about to get the F6 because I have been keen on a 32-bit float recorder, and am keen to see how it goes at a airshow coming up in a few weeks.
Do you risk getting a higher noise floor using the conversion connectors to XLR? I guess there's no way around it..
You mean the DPA adapter?
@@FreeToUseSounds yes!
@@malteleander2189 Well, they are made by DPA so everything is high quality without introducing noise
I was very close top buying to F3, but not being able to hear what the mics are picking up is a big no go for me!!
Hi! You can purchase the Zoom F3. The issue you mentioned about not being able to listen to what you're recording doesn't stem from the F3 itself. In my case, I can't monitor the sound because I already have the DPA 4560 microphones in my ears. However, someone else could certainly listen to it.
If you try to put the headphones over your ears while the microphones are also in place, the resulting feedback could be potentially harmful to your ears. So, it's important to avoid this scenario. Again, when using any other microphones with the F3, you can listen to your recording.
@@FreeToUseSounds Awww, that is awesome... Also, I think you can set the levels BEFORE you record yes? -- I am currently using the Zoom H5N, but I like the F3 for LOW noise.
Unfortunately, these otherwise excellent DPA capsules noise with 23 dB selfnoise for
natural environments (forests and meadows with no wind) far too much for them to be useful there. For this I use diy arrangements based on Primo em 272 or Pui Audio aom - 5024l-hd-r capsules. These have a selfnoise of only 14dB. Unsurpassed for capsules smaller or equal to 10 mm diameter!
Unfortunately, these show a treble drop from 8000 hz... Sound Professionals uses Aom capsules in their professionel series, by the way.
Too bad the DPA is out of my price range 😂
One day :)
