    In the conversation of mags, I love the Steyr mags. I’ve abused the hell out of my mag for close to two years and it still feeds great. Magpul makes AUG mags that also work well, and are a little cheaper than the Steyr proprietary mags.

    I got the nato version because I live in Colorado where we have a mag ban on mags over 15 rounds. People still sell your most common 30 round mags like ar, ak, glock, etc. But I knew I'd have to to a triple backflip through a flaming hoop to find aug waffle mags.

    The gen 3 pmag is a better mag than the Steyr mag imo from a functional standpoint. The Steyr mags pop rounds out pretty easy when inserting mags. Gen 3 pmags don’t do that on anything I’ve put them in and function in a ton of different rifles. Other than that, I really enjoyed your review.

      Slightly less triggerpull. The triggertamer lessens the triggerpull a lot more but doesn’t work well with the 20/20 sear: slamfire. This was predicted as an option.

    • @FuzedBox
      @FuzedBox Před 3 lety

      That's a really tall order. There are many, many variants of the MSAR, some of which are fairly rare. Some parts interchangeability with Steyr depending on version, but lots of proprietary stuff. Some are fantastic, others craptastic, with varying levels of QC across the board.The other player was TDP with their AXR, of which only ~140 exist; those are *extremely* rare. They're supposedly of exceptional build quality, rivaling or surpassing Steyr, and are true clones with 100% parts commonality unlike the MSAR line.
      I feel like it would be an interesting video, but even if it was possible to obtain all of those variants, it would be something more up Ian's alley on Forgotten Weapons, or better yet- renowned AUG expert and US Steyr middleman Pete Athens, but I doubt anyone could get him to do a youtube video.

    • @TnSteyr

      If you buy a parts kit by one in a non nato configuration. If you buy a new aug in the nato version , you could switch between the 2 of them if you like. @ 02:50 The guy in this video says that Steyr mags are superior to STANAG mags. However in Brandon Herrera's AUG video, (czcams.com/video/s3raAILCIoM/video.html) @ 13:33 you can see that fast or "spirited" reloads of the Steyr waffle mags cause rounds to spill into the firing chamber and instantly jam your rifle. This plus the infinite multi-colored universe of tried and proven AR15 mags makes me lean towards STANAG mags. There's no way that plastic waffle mag is better than every single AR15 mag ever made.

      You need the USR, which is extremely rare. They only imported 3000 of them. I personally own #334.
      Thumbhole stock, which I don't find ugly anymore. I actually like it, although the "shark skin grey" stock is certainly different, the barrel has no suppressor, there is a barrel pin to prevent changing to a standard barrel, which is replaceable with the quick barrel release, which I bought, and it comes with a "9+1" magazine. Also no bayonet lug.
      Great rifle, but they sold for more than the current AUG models.
      The only issue I've heard of is the quick release scope/picatinny setup. Apparently, if you switch back and forth a lot, it wears due to aluminum on aluminum and your zero isn't zero anymore.
      Newer models removed the quick release in favor of screws and thread lock.
      If you find one, you want to make sure whoever had it didn't keep messing with the removal of the scope, or, if they put a piccatiny rail on, they only did it once and never went back to the oem scope.

      Rod Coxswell thank you for the response. When you said USR I had no idea what you were talking about. But after a quick google search I see it’s based off of the AUG A2 receiver but made to get around the 922(r) policy. I’ve seen online AUG A3 M1’s that were CA compliant but idk if those are the same as the USR’s that you mentioned. I’ve looked on Steyr’s official website for more info on AUG out of curiosity and they let you configure one to your liking which then redirects you to dealers in the local area for shipping I’m assuming? But being in the state that I’m in, I’m not sure if it’s even possible with me since I have to account for CA laws and there wasn’t an option for a CA compliant version. There were Steyr dealers in my state so I contacted them regarding this process.
      At this point idk, I was debating between the AUG or a PTR-9R. I’m currently working to save up for one and I’m leaning more towards the AUG. If I can even find one for sale that is lol

      @@Paralyzed-rm6vc you are on Steyr website ? Ordering one correct...
      The Steyr optic is a opinion and I believe you have to call/E-Mail them for that.. as for you wanting to put you Vortex on it , I would get the Long rail. The next thing to are go too have to think about are scope rings , bullpups are a bit different from a AR or Bolt action setup. You will have to see 1st how much of a rizer you will need to get the correct eye relefe , and then learn Hight 0ver bore . ALL OVER AGAIN !

    If the Nato could switch ejection side I would get it.

    • @TnSteyr
      @TnSteyr  Před rokem

      It is capable of doing so but you have to Mill out the ejection port in the stock and then change the bolt over they just do not come pre-drilled that way

    Is it true that the Nato AUG does not have last round bolt hold open? I heard that somewhere

    • @TnSteyr
      @TnSteyr  Před 3 lety

      Yes that's correct . the Nato Aug does not have a bolt release besides engaging the charging handle . We're the Standard AUG has the bolt release button and you can use the charging handle.

    • @TnSteyr

      You can run a left handed bolt in any of the Aug's you just have to have the ejection window in the stock. The Nato stocks need to be cut out for this option to work

    • @TnSteyr
      @TnSteyr  Před 3 lety

      YES. You will need a standard stock & Trigger pack , Mags.
      Then you can just swap the Barrel, Receiver & Bolt carrier group to either one.
      * this will ONLY WORK with the A3 SA 0r A3M1. Do NOT buy one of the old Military parts kits . The receiver and bolt Carrier group will not fit in the stock they are totally different models.
