Looks great, thanks for the video.
Great technique! Thank you for your demo!
Linda Taylor, thank you so much for sharing. Just about a week after I watched this video a woman came to me with an antique DWR top her grandmother had made. I confidently told her I could quilt it!!! Thank you!!
That's jst amazing how much fullness you were able to disguise in the stitches of a beautiful design. The quilting on this heirloom is just gorgeous. You are a magician with a sewing machine!
I think I would have cried if I was the customer! It turned out so beautiful!
Wow! Thank you, Linda! I held my breath the whole time you were working in that loose area!! Great job, and I appreciate your showing us how to handle areas like that!!
Incredible! For years I worried about how to finish an antique quilt top. I sat in a box under a bed. And was not enjoyed. The colors faded and yellowed. The fabric deteriorated. When I was given responsibility for it I was overwhelmed, and passed it on to other family. I hope it has been finished. This video gives be hope that it might be beautifully finished and reinforced, then used or displayed and enjoyed for its remaining life. Maybe I’ll find the courage to check on the quilt and offer to machine quilt it. I thought it should be hand quilted, but I see how machine quilting could be a very good option. Thank you!
That is amazing! It is no wonder she was so thrilled and excited.
Wow! This was making! I’m a new longarmer-not yet quilting for other people but hopefully in the future!
Absolutely WOW!
Always been intrigued by the longarm. Everything always appear to be so perfect and easy. This video brings realities to nightmares. Beautiful job! You saved the quilt.
I am amazed by the results you achieved on this quilt. It is truly one to treasure. Congratulations!
I have watched this several times and am amazed again and again at how beautiful it turned out and without tucks! What talent you have. You are an inspiration. Thanks Linda.
So absolutely wonderful that you could literally save that antique quilt and all the hard loving work that went into it. I wouldn't have thought it could be done. I am inspired! Thank you!
HOLY MOLY! HOLY COW! That is unbelievable! You are definitely a master at this!
Wow! Blow me over! As a beginner, it is fascinating to see how you addressed this issue, and the flexibility we have in quilting to turn such a challenge into a beautiful work of art. I'm so glad you accepted this challenge, and I know the family appreciates the blessing of your skill on their quilt. Truly a family heirloom now!
Absolutely amazing. You truly inspired me to try my great Aunts tops now. They have sat for 30 plus years waiting to have something done to them . Thank you so much!
What an awesome job. The way you tamed that inner circle was just fantastic.
Always love to watch you solve these quilting challenges. I learn so much from you. Thanks.
Wow you are awesome and amazing! This should be called "miracle quilt ". Cause you worked a miracle out of a tough one.
Wow no wonder there are some awesome designs on some of the quilts I've seen! A computer did them? WOW Amazing!
What a pleasure to watch this process unfold. Magical. Thanks for sharing.
That was wonderful to see! What a transformation. Thank you for sharing the Best of Both Worlds.
Absolutely amazing! I truly admire your patience and expertise as I'm sure the family does too. The amount of respect you had for the quilt as an heirloom and the determination it had to have took to get it finished is really remarkable. Such a joy to watch, thank you for sharing :)

That was fabulous! Wonderful job! I’m a newbie but have two antique quilts from each of my great grandmother’s. I’m excited to see what I can do with them now. Thank you for your videos!
Your quilting is amazing. The quilt is stunning.
Thank you for an awesome video... Great knowledge to have in the quilter's bag of tricks for those creatively pieced quilt tops.
Thank you!! I'm still pretty new to the longarm, and a customer brought me a double wedding ring. It has fullness in the piecing. Not nearly as bad as the one you demonstrate on here!! You really saved me. THANK YOU!!
I’ve seen some challenging DWR tops, but this one took the prize! Great job! So glad you were my first long arm teacher 18 years ago at The Quilted Rose in San Diego, CA. I’ll never forget your kindness, patience, and your hospitality in including me in your evening with your sister at a play. Still fall back on your books, patterns, and tutorials! Blessings to you and yours! Dee

That was awesome!! I didn't think it could be done.
I have a quilt top thats Double Wedding Ring that was pieced by hand by my great grandmother. It has the exact same problem. There is so much fullness that I didn't think it could even be finished without redoing the seams. I didnt want to donthat because it was done completely by hand. Now I see there is hope for this topnotch be finished. Thanknyou sknmuch! I would really like to have you do the quilt. I dontbhave the expertise to really take it on with confidence.
I am so impressed by your quilting! Have just started on my home sewing machine, and can only dream of such skills! Thanks for sharing!!!

You are amazing!!! Love this work and your technique is wonderful ;)
Beautiful job
Wow! Great work - thanks for this!
You are truly a genius! Mine was not bad but got ruined by the gamble quilter I took it too. So I patiently unlocked the lot, took me three months and took it to a different quilter and it looked so great that I actually kissed a strange woman hahaha!
Amazing job. I am envious of long arm quilters. Would love to be able to do it someday. Cuddos to you
Fabulous job
It looks great I would be happy with the results
That was so fun to watch
Thank you thank you thank you
Beautiful work and amazing, too.
Great job....
Very interesting to see how you handled the challenges!
I love the end results on this!
amazing quilting
Great technique. Thanks so much for sharing. 8-)
It's Beautiful!!!
Good fix!!
For a solution, I would of put a thick batting under the quilt. I think that would be the best choice. Then I would stich in the ditch, followed by a design to best fill in the open areas.
Wow!
That is so amazing that you could work in the excess fabric. I have inherited quilt blocks that my great grandmother sewed by hand. I'll be 73 next month so I'm guessing she made them in the 1800's. They are extremely fragile and made of a thin muslin type fabric, maybe feed sacks. I treasure them but have no idea how to safeguard them. I think I may just frame several of them behind glass. Any advice or comments will be appreciated.
beautiful
Amazing
I think I might have hit this with a little spray starch and a steam iron before that baste. Tha old fabric is saggy and the combination of starch and steam may have drawn quite a bit of it in. It's wonderful job.
Hey +Linda the client did attempt to iron it
Cloudy Wishes bummer--but she did a wonderful job on it.
unfortunatly their ironing it may have made it worse since ironing can stretch fabric. We quilters press our quilts but if you iron it can distort.
I agree with Linda that some starch and steam iron pressing may have taken some of that up.
A lot of great tips here. But, I am curious what you would have done in those large area's if you didn't have a computerized machine. Would you have used the starch and iron method to get rid of most of the fullness and then quilted it or what? Yes the customer ironed it prior to bringing it to you but, she did not have it on the frame. It was not mentioned if she used starch and ironed to draw the fabric up or if she just ironed it like we just iron our quilt tops prior to quilting them.
Wow
Fantastic work! What kind of long arm are you using? You are so skilled! Thanks for this demo!
This is a Statler by Gammill.
Airbrushing a beautiful antique quilt top with modern quilting?
I have a double wedding ring top that my Great Grandmother pieced out of flour sacks for my Mom when she was about 7 years old. It hasn't been finished and I would really like to have it completed. I don't want it to be destroyed by rotting away in a box now that my mom has gone to heaven too. It's such a beautiful piece of artwork. Any guidance on how I can get it done?
How can get this Gammill quilting machine in Pakistan.
Why are comments all positive? Previously I stated that to me, it’s airbrushing a lovely antique quilt with modern quilting, my comment was removed.
Wow
