Ms Dutt, to be sexually oriented differently in a country like ours, to be able to own up, to be able to add humour in all the insults thrown at you, to be constantly attacked by media and people, to be able to take charge of yourself, to be honest, IS a sign of bravery. Just because Karan Johar's struggles are different from Kangana or anyone else doesn't mean that he doesn't go through anything. Their struggles were different, how they dealt with it is different we can't applaud one and question the other. I think Karan Johar is brave too. His humour inspires me, it inspires me to add humour in the toughest of situations.
That's the difference between karan johar and kangana ranaut , he atleast talk about her respectfully and on the other hand kangana disrespects him each every time !!!!
Kangana ranaut is a foul mouth person. In all her interviews he drags several Bollywood personalities name shaming them!! I don't like this interviewer, as she interviewed kangana ranaut and applauded with her with what she said!!
I loved how the hall supported Karan Johar and showed respect for him! Because no matter what, his work and legacy is authentic and heart touching! They do make you feel every emotion! And we need films with talk about Emotions!!!💝
For the first time, Barkha pissed me off with the way she treated Karan. I love Kangana, I am a passionate feminist, BUT , I also see Karan Johar's side in this nepotism debate. Just because he's Yash Johar's son doesn't mean his life has been easy. Unless you have lived someone's life, you cannot assume it was easy. Nobody knows what battles someone has fought and what goes on behind closed door's in someone else's life. I'm not sure how Barkha can claim Kangana had no sugar daddy, when she herself has admitted to having affairs with several married men in the film industry.
To Mr Shivam from Huffington Post 'Yes, Karan Johar is indeed that 'sensible man' who understands the pulse of the audience, because the movies you call 'bad' are the most popular, go figure! ' . Barkha jee, I loved the show, thank you for doing this.
I really love Karan Johar's sense of humour..I think he is right on his point..no one can't force anyone to do anything..It is Karan's choice and his money that his father have earned hardly.. even Karan is working hard to keep the business a successful..so please guys don't blame for anyone..
Karan is clearly bothered by Kangana incident. If one of the big Khans or Kapoors had said what she said then Karan wouldn't react this strongly because it's bad for business. This guy will say anything thats good for businrss and everything he says has to be taken with pinch of salt.
He doesn't say "anything" that's good for business. He's indicating he is gay by choice and he gets trolled for it everyday. He speaks up for hiring Pakistani actors and he does make a huge difference in his own way.
Thankyou! Buissness world and Mojo story for a lovely evening at the 'Lodhi' with two spectacular and magnanimous orators! was fortunate to attend this event😊

I love his bold & beautiful outlook toward himself his life & children all the gloriously flashy work he has done in the industry...oh yes the greatest.. Coffee with the King Karan the original.
I love you Karan ❤️the way you are 🤝(It’s your life your decisions..be the same alws 😊)..let the people say anything about yr ??? I can 👍 very well wht reality is 😊and just brings a smile ..stupid people 🤣yr humour rocks 🤗
Karan's films are mostly larger than life and more dramatic than real life. so, people use their own words when they find any similarity or unfortunately any similarity which resembles someone's own worst experience. I think the most problem is people always tend to compare or relate themselves with film characters and mostly in negative things not any positive. Take anything inspiring and leave others if it does not really affect deeply anyone's life. who asks to relate each and everything with your and other's life?
Apart from karan johar, everyone constantly picked up on shivam to conclude eventually that all karan johars films have so far been sentimental and exciting. Although they kept saying we must respect shivam's opinion, at the end, it seemed as if people were correcting him in the pursuit of undoing what shivam actually said... Like, leave that poor guy for being honest. And i think apart from shivam, there was another man who asked a question of how he makes movie, from an entertaining or pragmatic perspective, that seemed almost close to what shivam wanted to ask
@@sapnaa6576 Oh yes absolutely. I felt so bad for shivam at that point. 😅 It simply meant, you'd have to ask a question in a safe or rather refined manner, to get some validation and of course, an answer😅
I agree and stand with Kangana on the Hrithik controversy. But I dont understand why she is creating this nepotism issue. In general, it is OKAY to seek help from family/friends. They help you get a job in real life, why is it a different scenario for film industry? How is it Karan Johar's fault that he was born in the fraternity? That doesn't make his journey less important than hers.
Dude she has not created she just said to karan on koffee talk show that he is flag bearer of nepotism , then after that media hyped it to extreme level , asking every celebrity there opinion , and dragging kangana into it, also the format of show of karan is such that they are forced to say controversial thing , and it's ok if she said her heart out, but media just made the mockery out of that talk, taking it to the whole new level , till now they drag nepotism in every interview of celebrity to know there opinion s
I think Barkha Dutt was being biased. If Kangana can have an opinion why can't Karan? Why should his status stop him from having an opinion? Hats off to Kangana for being a self-made woman but does that mean everyone is supposed to applaud her? Does that mean everyone needs to agree with her? If she is going to attack someone then be ready to be attacked by the other. If she has an opinion so could the other.
True .... so true..... I don’t know if you ever get a chance to stay updated on the trends on this side of the border, but a latest example of what you are saying was; last year. there was a slogan trending and sort of headlining the annual women’s day and the women’s March, 2020 “mera jism meri marzi” (my body my choice) and the entire sociopolitical fraternity was divided and polar opposite to each other with zero middle ground literally. So much so that there were heated debates in both houses. In the most prominent debate on primetime, a pro-slogan activist “marvi sarmad” interrupted the famed anti slogan screen writer “khalil Qamar”. And what he said in return to that was just disgusting. I mean to Stoop as low as getting personal and body shaming !! and I was just amazed at how there was a group of people that still had an ear and acceptance for his opinions how “feminist” and “pro-rights” he tried to make them sound...
It's fascinating how sometimes a bad question leads to such a wonderful debate. Thank you Mr. Shivam (Dil Se) :) and wonderful to see the 'build up' on it by Barkha Jee. Wonderful work altogether Barkha Dutt and her team. Very thoughtful of you to design such an audience based show. *ThumbsUp

Love love Karan Johar. Hate the fact the Barkha is completely disregarding his efforts and puts Kangana across has this poor woman who's been done wrong. Kangana has disrespected Karan ad every given opportunity. She is not the only outsider Deepika and Priyanka are perfect examples but they didn't constantly play the 'poor me' card.

Only here for Karan Johar. You learn a lot when you hear him. Poonam just said what I strongly feel too. Kabhi alvida was actually very ahead of its time keeping the audience of that time in mind. If Karan Johar makes it today again with some changes. It's gonna work, the generation today is more accepting of themselves, others and the truths and they are more real. I want to ask both Barkha and KJO some questions. Why should someone like Shivam ask only questions that are pleasing to KJO's ears? Why was the guy Shivam picked on so much by the elite audience and made fun of ? Who is Barkha to instruct everyone to ask ONLY amicable questions right before the questioning began ? Really? He was hurt by "don't walk like a girl?" And he thinks no one should be subjected to conditioning???? Wtf was Kuch Kuch Hota Hai...??? Kajol was conditioned from being a sporty woman to "a feminine gentle teacher" - so stereotypical... for Rahul (the stereotypical macho guy) to fall for her.... GOD! Someone with this kind of a background, being the underdog (unable to be himself sexually, adopt a child and all that) doesn't get up against society's dumb standards...
I think kkhh suited the era in which it was made.People's views change with time. Are not many of us guilty of loving the movie then at the first place ?We are questioning it only now. Also,he nowhere said he got insulted by that line.He said ,no one is supposed to condition person of any gender to behave in a certain way. It is cruel how as a kid ,he had to face mockery and abuses. My very good friend from school committed suicide for the same reasons.
BANNER not closed captions keeps coming across the screen Diamond shape stats The Town Hall. Then banner scrolls out to the right with quotes from interview. Quite annoying as it never quite matches the topic being discussed. I know it's the Town Hall and I can hear the discussion; so I don't need the banner.
Karan is ridiculous in comparing himself to kangna. He is born with silver spoon and always rubbed shoulders with only Bollywood childhood chums.he gave chances only to bollywood croud and yet cliams to be common man

Someone with this kind of a background, being the underdog (unable to be himself sexually, adopt a child and all that) doesn't get up against society's dumb standards...
really good observation, I totally get your point.
He is amazing and funny respect to this gentleman
BANNER not closed captions keeps coming across the screen Diamond shape stats The Town Hall. Then banner scrolls out to the right with quotes from interview. Quite annoying as it never quite matches the topic being discussed. I know it's the Town Hall and I can hear the discussion; so I don't need the banner.
thank you for the feed back. we get mixed feedback on this. Quite a few people like the highlights to be on the scroll
Barka of u r reading my comment kindly can u request karan or sanjay leela bhansali to make movie on raja dahir of sind and his daughters thanks.
Barnhart bring Hritik to Townhall.
I like this journalist :)
Barkha, "Just say those 3 words". What if he turns around & asks you, "What about you ?" You are living in a glass house & throwing stones at him.
Karan is ridiculous in comparing himself to kangna. He is born with silver spoon and always rubbed shoulders with only Bollywood childhood chums.he gave chances only to bollywood croud and yet cliams to be common man
is it his fault to be born rich ?
poor shivam was rag dolled, he dint deserve that. all these people who think people should have opinions are the ones who least respect that
Well he was the second star of the evening by the end of it in terms of fame :-)
Hats off Karan. Welcome home to Australia.
Relate to mojo on the issue of nepotism because Mr kher reaches there too. D.
Karan Johar ji mere ko 20 years Ho Gaye 41 Meri age hai Sabko dekh chuka hun apni age ke anusar Sabko dekh chuka hun Baki main aap Logon ki language samajh Nahin pata dis ise my problem English veek
Barkha dear if Karan is your friend why you invited Nd asked kangana about nepotism Nd karan, friends don't do that. Nd y to give so much importance to sexuality Nd ask public figure to come out whereas media can make society aware Nd make it acceptable. As a journalist u must be knowing power of media.
It is Business Monopoly more than nepotism
