Sony sounded brighter to me and really highlighted her voice. Soundcore blended the mix very well. I wonder which one was more accurate to the recording.
Which was more accurate...on their default sound profiles...neither really. You can get both of them to sound pretty accurate using EQ though. I think they're both going for that extended bass response someone would like if they compared two of them at a store.

I just got the soundcore life tune which as far as I can tell run identical hardware just the finish is matte black and the logo is smaller with the word soundcore. Aside from that they are the same: damn good sounding Bluetooth cans with functional ANC. Anker is crushing the sub $100 space when it comes to audio.
The value on these is pretty incredible. Way too bassy out of the box tho. I found the acoustic profile is pretty decent, but you can obviously make a custom one as well.

I am in no way an audiophile but I bought a pair based on your review (among others) and previously I was using AudioTechnica ATH-M50's which were great, but these are way better, and THANK YOU for the settings screenshot at 6:49, it really does sound much better. The OG settings for bass were a bit much for me and this comes out really clean.

I found the ANC a tad underwhelming on these. It seems a bit better in the "indoor" setting than "transport" in cutting out my space heater, but I have another budget pair called the Dyplay Urban Traveller 2 which is considerably stronger in ANC. I think those have better looks and build quality (the hingest rarely ever creak or crackle like the Q30S), but they are tuned brighter (maybe more like Harman target but maybe overshooting the treble). However, they have this annoying auto-power-off feature after 1 minute of inactivity, and also miss out in battery life (12 hours)as well as crackle in some tracks when using AptX. I'm also curious how the Tranya H10 compares to these and the Monoprice BT-600.
Great review...I am using Q35 for a couple of days now and decided to not buy the xm4s which were on sale but still 3 times the price....no regrets except that the hand on cup to change to transparency is clunky as you pointed out...also the multipoint connection to a windows laptop and Android device is not so smooth...

Well they just released an upgraded version, the Q35. If you’re on android it could be a better choice. Although it cost quite a bit more. Not much different for iPhone users I guess, unless Apple decided to go with LDAC or something.
I connected my phone to the Sonys at Best buy, there is no way the sony even on sale at 278.00 at the time was worth that much more. Sound can be a toss up depending on the song, the Sony were thicker in sound while the Q30 were clearer. The comfort is a tiny bit towards the Sony as the not a bulky feeling and if you are moving they are going to stay on better.

The problem with these is that the passive isolation is very bad... Hence the ANC could be actually better or on par. Yet I have returned them... Might have to revisit though

I haven't reviewed the Bose, but I think the best budget ones I've found are these Monoprice ones. czcams.com/video/7PBjCWY9gE4/video.html These Life Q30's are also good, but not as accurate as the Monoprice. The Sony has the best noise cancelling but not as clear as the other two.
I recently got to where I prefer my Q35 sound over my XM3s . This happened after I got my LetShouer S12s IEMs And I tried listening to my XMEs repeatedly coming to the conclusion the XM3s sound like garbage
For me, ANC is the most over-rated, over-hyoed spec when it comes to headphones. I never use the feature on my headphones or earbuds. Call quality is also something I am not concerned with, as I never use headphones/earbuds when taking calls. I am all about audio quality, fit, comfort and battery life.
Reason why the Sony's sound good is because of the price tag. In the end of the day, in society people relate higher prices to better quality. For me however i see people wanting to give their hard earned money to Sony because Sony needs their money. People have to distinguish between you pay for what you get and being conned.
Sound is very subjective, there are some headphones that just can't be eq'd at all to sound better (or to meet your personal needs). These can get the job done. I compared mine to most of the way more expensive sets at best buy. For 80 bucks, and check around for a coupon BTW, you cant beat them. The logo sucks! They should not use the "d" or music note, it looks like the beats logo to me as well.
Sound is subjective but I think at a certain point there starts to be a point of consensus about what sound wrong and what sounds right. It's when we start looking too close at what sounds "perfect" where you start hearing a lot of disagreement.

Good review, thanks! But i have a question. I want the headphones for work. Using them mostly for conference calls. I look at them cause they say Q30s have ambient sound cancelation on microphone. I have 4 kids and thats my main topic. To have others in my room watching TV, but the one that im talking with dont listen another sound diferent than my voice. Do you know if Q30s are good doing that?
Why not just use earplugs to suppress noise? I use it all the time while riding motorcycles or on busy terminals and airports. You can't use these while drilling on concrete walls anyways.

Sony hands down when it comes to aural quality. The anker soundcore isnt bad. XM3 wasnt muddled at all. The soundcore was.

maybe this is a really dumb question but...if we can hear the difference between audio with "regular cheap" earpods (what I have) doesn't that mean almost any decent earphones can get to a very high quality audio of expensive products?

These Life Q30's are also good, but not as accurate as the Monoprice. The Sony has the best noise cancelling but not as clear as the other two.
I few more bass from Q30 but less punch than XM3...XM3 sound better ...by a lot , but keep in my Q30 only cost 80$
Interesting... the Q30 is brighter then the Sony. Sony has a wider sound field though.

I recently got to where I prefer my Q35 sound over my XM3s . This happened after I got my LetShouer S12s IEMs And I tried listening to my XMEs repeatedly coming to the conclusion the XM3s sound like garbage

For me, ANC is the most over-rated, over-hyoed spec when it comes to headphones.
I never use the feature on my headphones or earbuds.
Call quality is also something I am not concerned with, as I never use headphones/earbuds when taking calls.
I am all about audio quality, fit, comfort and battery life.
The sound quality on the Sony sound much better
Reason why the Sony's sound good is because of the price tag. In the end of the day, in society people relate higher prices to better quality. For me however i see people wanting to give their hard earned money to Sony because Sony needs their money.
People have to distinguish between you pay for what you get and being conned.

Sound is very subjective, there are some headphones that just can't be eq'd at all to sound better (or to meet your personal needs). These can get the job done. I compared mine to most of the way more expensive sets at best buy. For 80 bucks, and check around for a coupon BTW, you cant beat them. The logo sucks! They should not use the "d" or music note, it looks like the beats logo to me as well.
Sound is subjective but I think at a certain point there starts to be a point of consensus about what sound wrong and what sounds right. It's when we start looking too close at what sounds "perfect" where you start hearing a lot of disagreement.

Good review, thanks! But i have a question. I want the headphones for work. Using them mostly for conference calls. I look at them cause they say Q30s have ambient sound cancelation on microphone. I have 4 kids and thats my main topic. To have others in my room watching TV, but the one that im talking with dont listen another sound diferent than my voice. Do you know if Q30s are good doing that?

Why not just use earplugs to suppress noise? I use it all the time while riding motorcycles or on busy terminals and airports. You can't use these while drilling on concrete walls anyways.
