Hey Martin, great review on this Innov8 Racepac! Sounds like it's pretty much a Swiss Army knife of race vests. Love how you detailed the versatility with pockets and adjustments - seems like a magic trick fitting all that stuff in there! I totally get the struggle with fiddly bits when you're just trying to focus on the run. Can't wait to hear how it holds up for your marathon!

Thanks Mihai, I quite like that 'the Swiss Army of race vests' 👌 I think it'll do better than me on the marathon 🤣

Great review mate! Moray Marathon will be my first road marathon so I was thinking about a light vest to carry gels ect! Have a good race, maybe see you along the way!

Sounds like an excellent price point. A good price and size for a marathon. I'm with you, don't love the tiny front closure system but you pointed out the nice attention to detail securing the end of the cord and easy adjustment. It's a vest without sides that wrap around, which might be a price point saving but I find the side vest pockets handy because they are within reach. Good phone inner pocket suggestion (heavy items in a vest do like to bounce). That a situation where I would like a pocket over a pocket. Usually, I don't understand the pockets on top of pockets because the overlapping pockets interfere with each other (put stuff in the pocket in front of the water bottle pocket and that stuff interferes with putting your water bottles in their pocket). Sometimes I find an empty bottle pocket is better for phones because it's tighter pocket. It does look like 4L on the back plus the front storage, so maybe bigger than expected and big enough that you might be out long enough to want poles so now I'm curious about how well the pole carrying system works--will they stay put and are they out of the way. Overall, the price point means it will be a good seller. I hope it works well for your marathon!

Thanks Brian, aye, using a bottle pocket just as an extra pocket without the bottle is a firm favourite with me on lots of runs, if I'm not needing the extra liquid. I'll need to get out with it while using poles & see how it fairs with storing & removing several times, though I think it'll cope just fine 🤞It worked absolutely fine for the marathon yesterday, no bounce on the back & easy access to everything I needed during the run 👍

Hi. How would this compare to inov8 ultrapac range? These seem much cheaper but I can't see many downsides and the bungee straps at the front seem an improvement on the two buckles found on the ultrapac. Thanks.

Martin, very balanced review, thank you. Nice pack when considering the price, and as you said, any improvements would increase the price. I have mixed feelings about the poles being attached in the front. Quick to access (compared to pack that attaches poles in the back), but I would be concerned about freedom of movement with arms swinging when running. What's been your experience?

Thanks Reto, I'm a big fan of poles in the front, they've never hindered my movement & they are just so much more accessible, also you don't forget about them as you might if they're not in view 👍

The Ultrapac comes with the soft flasks included & the buckle clips are meant to be an upgrade to the bungee straps. I'd say if you like the bungee straps & already have some soft flasks, then save yourself a few quid & get the Racepac 👍
