The English countryside is on my bucket list (I’m in Quebec, Canada) and everytime I watch one of your videos I want to read all the books you mention with the countryside in it! 🤣 Thanks for sharing!
The English countryside is very beautiful - I hope you're able to have a proper tour of it sometime! I think you'd love 'The Light Years' if you enjoy reading about town and country and life in an English manor house xxx

An interesting selection of reads! I need to listen to Tea and Tattle. I have read The Dictionary of Lost Words by Pip Williams, this was quite complex and covers so many aspects of life. There was a little to much detail in some areas but the portrayal of close relationships and friendships was well developed and some quite lovely. I found a quote for my commonplace book from this novel, "Words are our tools of resurrection." It is a story that stays with you. A completely different light read was D E Stevenson's Summerhills the sequel to Amberwell. Slightly Foxed's book I Was a Stranger by John Hackett was an appropriate read following Easter. And a children's book that I looked over again was Vendela in Venice by the same author of Linnea in Monet's Garden, Christina Björk . This book is part story part travelogue for children but equally good for adults. Oh to be able to visit Venice again if only I could be there when its quiet. thank you for your inspiring video!
Thank you very much! The Dictionary of Lost Words sounds like an interesting read, and I always love D E Stevenson. I adored the 'Linnea' books when I was little (and even had a Linnea doll!), so I'm curious to read Vendela in Venice. Thank you for the recommendations! xxx

Hello Miranda, I recently discovered your CZcams channel and instantly became a subscriber...from one of your Cozy Book Review videos, I ordered several of the books based on your recommendations..one in particular that captivated me from the start was “The Shell Seekers” by Rosamunde Pilcher, that I’m current reading now..This is my first Rosamunde Pilcher book and it is definitely not my last..your description of her writing style and the way she describes a scene was Perfect.. Thank you for such great content, 🥰 oh and lastly, I haven’t Started on the other books yet, like “Miss Carter and the Ifrit” or “Someone at a Distane” and “Business as Usual” but I can’t wait to read them too..again Thank You 😊

I’ve added a few of these to my TBR, so thank you. :) I do have “The Mercies” on hold at the library, but it seems pretty popular so it might be a while before I get to it. I listened to “Dark Salt Clear”, which was in one of your videos. It was fantastic - the writing is very lyrical and really works with how unglamorous the subject might seem. I also read “The Nutmeg Tree” by Margery Sharpe because I enjoyed “Cluny Brown” so much and found that it was just as delightful.

Hi Miranda! What a diverse reading month you had! How wonderful! It's nice to see a variety to appeal to all tastes. I just received Business As Usual, The Bass Rock and the The Light Years series. I am currently reading books for the booktube prize, so I'm not quite sure when I will get to them, but I am definitely looking forward to immersing myself in them. A few others that I must get for my library are: The Mercies, Hamnet and Love after Love. They all sound right up my alley. I so appreciate your videos Miranda, thank you so much!

I've never heard of Catherine Storr or Marianne Dreams but I#m definitely adding it to my list. I'll search Abe Books after listening to the end of this video. I'd also love all the descriptions of food in Love After Love! Food in Literature is almost an obsession - I have to find the recipes for dishes I like the sound of and then try them out. Have you read the book Fictitious Dishes by Dinah Fried? I loved looking through 'Literature's Most Memorable Meals' (the book's tag line).

Hello Miranda, lots of great reviews which I enjoyed hearing. I read Hamnet and found a lot to agree with you about the book and the character of Agnes. I would really class this as a young adult fairytale and as such I thoroughly enjoyed it. There was nothing I could relate to how I already imagined the character and life of Shakespeare's wife Anne and that was the problem, for me, with choosing such a famous person to write a fantasy about. As I said, though, I did enjoy reading this book. I'm sure you have read Dear Mrs Bird and The Chilbury Ladies Choir but I would recommend the audible versions and very timely with VE Day being celebrate this month (May). Excellent reviews. I found your channel while looking for reviews on Hamnet because I wanted to know how others felt about it. I wasn’t wowed although there is much to appreciate and admire,. I I rarely felt fully engaged or involved in the story. Still trying to work it out 🤔 Enjoyed your comments though.
